Description of the Orcas Island vacation home rental
Sitting atop a knoll nestled among majestic douglas firs and featuring a spectacular view that sweeps over a meadow of tree tops, look down the waters of Upright Channel to the Olympic Mountains, from this charming, private, 2 bedroom, 2 bath, Craftsman-style, cedar home. It's a great get-away retreat from the frenzy of everyday life. The Orcas Tree House allows you to lounge on the main deck or balcony off of the master bedroom and enjoy watching the distant ferries pass by and deer browsing or napping on the lawn. There are wood floors and comfortable furnishings throughout the house.

The entire upstairs is the master bedroom suite with a king sized bed and a foam, fold-out love seat that sleeps one additional person. Also upstairs is a bathroom with an over-sized tub/shower with a skylight above and twin shower heads with dual controls. French doors open onto a private balcony looking out from the top of the Tree House.

The main floor has a bedroom with a full-size bed, bathroom, and L-shaped living room/kitchen/dining room. French doors in the living room open to the main deck and view.

The owner is a long time island resident, teacher and pastel artist, who will easily leave her home anytime you wish to rent. The house is fully equipped, with everything you might need during your stay including linens, spices and condiments in the kitchen. For those who need to stay in touch with the outside world, there is High Speed Internet available for your use and free, long-distant calling to anywhere in the US. There is also a washer and dryer and an electric grill at your disposal.

Located halfway between Olga and Doe Bay, the Orcas Tree House is away from ferry and town traffic but within a few miles of Moran State Park, Obstruction Pass DNR Park with public beach, and the Artworks and Cafe Olga.

No smoking or pets allowed. The Orcas Tree House comes with two sweet cats you can leave outside during your stay.

We have rented lots of different homes and cabins and this was the best! The bed was so comfy and the place is so thoughtfully and lovingly cared for and decorated. We felt comfortable from day one.

Roberta and Craig, Seattle, WA

From the setting's grandeur to the smallest detail, we loved your home! We were in awe from the second we arrived to the moment of now departing. Thanks for sharing your respite with us. Your art is magnificent! I would buy every piece if I could. We hope to return someday, but we'll always treasure our time here in eternal memories. Our kids loved Gator and Geeza, the deer were precious, the view spectacular! Thank you for the suggestions in our blue book!

Doug and Stacy, Portland, OR

We're enchanted by your charming home and beautiful setting. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay on our first trip to Orcas. Thanks for opening up your home to others like this. By the way, we love your artwork, the paintings the quilts, stained glass, weavings and pottery. They all make your home very special.

Barbara and Bill, Henderson, NC and Amanda Murphy, Beaverton, OR

You have the absolute best spot on the island. Your home is so calm and comfortable and gives a renewed sense of peace and energy.

Tara, George, Hilary, Pepper, Ft. Knox, KY and Seattle, WA

Christina and I were so happy to have a kitchen so well equipped.

Susan, Palos Verdes Estates, CA

Your home is very comfortable and beautiful. It is much more inviting and comfortable BECAUSE it is a home, with loving touches and creature comforts, rather than a B and B or a hotel room. Your artwork is beautiful, as well.

A few random offerings about the Tree House experience:

As we bask in the reverie of our final, flawless evening here we realize we're leaving a sanctuary of sorts, a place that offers more than it's share of pure happy moments where there is not longing to be anywhere or to do anything else. You deserve great credit for creating such a place.

It's the first time we've ever experienced an extended stay in someone's home without them being there. Especially a place that offers such an intimate glimpse of its owner. You've employed great taste in making this, your home, as we appreciate your sharing it with us. It's made for a richer experience.

A single deer spent most of the morning seeking that elusive, sunny spot in the back yard. Three joined it that evening.

The ultimate accolade is that we would do this again in an instant, pay more money doing it and recommend it to those friends who would appreciate it.

Russ and JoLynn Williams, Grand Junction, Colorado

Our first steps through your door left us breathless as the serenity you've created soothed away the worries of our workday lives. I don't think we could have asked for a better oasis, a better getaway spot to seal our friendships. We will remember this weekend always.

Alan, Janni, Mark, Wei, Paul, Gautam and Suz, San Francisco, CA

Surely the Tree House has cast a spell on us. Oh, that we be so bewitched again soon!
