Description of the Orient vacation cottage rental

Older but comfortable cottage with full kitchen, large living room, porch, large back yard leading to water with dock. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom with shower/tub downstairs, sleeper couch. Weber grill. One bedroom has a double bed; the other has a double bed and a single bed. Kitchen has gas cooking range, large refrigerator, microwave; no dishwasher. Washer and dryer. Located on small international waterway (Canada is on the far shore!)Small boats, canoes, and kayaks can be launched off the back lawn; larger boats can be launched nearby on Canadian side of waterway. If you cross into Canada, you'll need a Passport. Water access to East Grand Lake (17 miles long) and North Lake via the Thoroughfare, which is a mile long and great for canoeing and kayaking.
Shortcomings: Water from tap can be used for everything but drinking; drinking water is available next door at Customs (many campowners get their water there). Also, we don't have a sand beach for swimming.

This is a rural, wooded area with abundant wildlife. There is a general store three miles away. The nearest town with good shopping is Houlton, 27 miles to the north. There are nice views of the lakes from Weston, the town to the south.
