A long, winding dirt drive less than a mile from the center of Orleans, leads you to our rambling wooden saltbox, hand built with love and care by the Boas family and lived in by that family for over 15 years. You enter the house via a stone pathway. Knotty pine walls and floors, huge skylights, wooden beams, cathedral ceilings and friendly feelings await you within.
Our 3,000 sq. ft. home is situated on 5 acres that borders Skaket Marsh. It is built on a hillside with a walk-out lower level housing our resident caretaker and the indoor heated 12'x32' swimming pool. The main level and second story contain 4 bedrooms (3 up, 1 down with a double bed), 2.5 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, a dining area, large eat-in kitchen, 10'x24' sun room with a glass cathedral ceiling, a screened porch, raised deck overlooking the backyard, and two stairways up (one spiral and one straight) and both an indoor and outdoor stairway to the lower level. There is a futon couch that folds out to a bed in one of the downstairs living rooms. There is also a beautiful fieldstone fireplace and plenty of aged wood available for those cool mornings or cozy evenings. Upstairs is the master bedroom with cathedral ceiling, views of the marsh and a large eye-to-the-night through the 3'x6' skylight over the queen sized bed. Two other bedrooms with 2 twin beds in each, two full baths and a laundry area are also upstairs.
Bike enthusiasts will appreciate the convenient access to the Cape Cod Rail trail which abuts this property via a path through the woods. Once on the trail you can ride for miles and miles without worry about cars. Nickerson State Park is just a short distance away with all its beautiful lakes, hiking trails and activities. Skaket Beach is under a mile by road, an easy walk, drive or bike trip. Nauset Beach, the ocean beach, is 3 miles to the east. Shopping and restaurants in Orleans Center are less than a mile from the house.
Swimming enthusiasts will appreciate the heated indoor pool which provides year-round daytime/nighttime exercise and fun no matter what the weather is like outside. The pool is 6' deep all over. Young children are recommended to wear life vests when in the pool or pool room. Adults and older children can enjoy swimming laps, splashing, floating and relaxing in this unique environment. Two showerheads provide poolside rinsing, and sliding glass doors open the pool room up to the grassy back yard for sunbathing or play.
HOW CAN WE RENT IT?

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?
Once you have reserved your week(s) by calling Sherry or Ralph Boas, you will need to collect those things needed for your get-away. We would recommend the following items:
For the House: Towels (we provide linens but not towels), extra blankets (if desired), laundry products, groceries.
For the Pool: Life jackets, floats, masks.
For Fun: Bike helmets (the house comes with two adult bikes), binoculars, VCR tapes (we provide a TV with basic cable, VCR and DVD player), games, puzzles, favorite books (there are many, many books in the house for your perusal).
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THE STAY?
Relaxation, peacefulness and convenience await when you step through the door. Our home is furnished comfortably but not fancily. It has more of a lived-in feeling than a penthouse ambience. The kitchen appliances include a microwave, dishwasher, gas stove, oven, large refrigerator, and assorted small appliances. We have window air conditioners for three of the four bedrooms for those occasionally hot summer days. There is a washer and dryer (we provide sheets and blankets), 1 bathtub, 3 showers, TV with basic cable, VCR, DVD, barbecue grill, phone, CD/cassette player, and several clock radios. We offer a ping-pong table in the sun room, a piano to play, books to read, acres to explore, wildlife to watch, beautiful sunsets and gorgeous night skies to gaze upon from the warmth and comfort of our skylit rooms. If the experience of others holds true for you, then you will not want to leave. We hope that is how you feel too! We look forward to having you enjoy our home.
