A Beautiful View
In addition to providing a relaxing park setting, Andrew Haydon Park has a spectacular view of Britannia Bay. First time visitors and residents always enjoy the breeze of a warm summer day. That is the best time to view the larger number of sail boats that are from the adjacent Nepean Sailing Club or passing by while traveling along the Ottawa River. The sailing club is located at Dick Bell Park which provides for an expansive space for people to run, walk or just enjoy the great outdoors. Andrew Haydon Park provides all the necessities with a picnic area, washrooms, and tree cover to keep cool and ample parking.
A Busy Entertainment Venue
Andrew Haydon Park has numerous entertainment activities on during the year. Its Canada Day celebrations are widely appreciated for their quality fireworks and provide a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the hectic pace of the national Canada Day celebrations downtown. Get outside every summer during the outdoor music and theatre series at Andrew Haydon Park. It is a great spot to enjoy some of Ottawa 's talented performing artists in the beauty of the great outdoors. A band shell helps ensure a quality sound while a small pond adds to a visually appealing atmosphere. Admission is free. For many years the Nepean Concert Band has played summer concerts at Andrew Haydon Park. The park has also been home to The Ceili in the Park. It offers a day of fun and celebration of the vibrant Celtic culture with dancers and musicians drawing from Scottish, Irish, Welsh and English traditions.
Relax with Abundant Wildlife
The Canada Geese and shore birds are attracted to this park, but the numbers are not a distraction to enjoyment of the space. The park is also along the Ottawa River Parkway bike path. It provides a nice rest stop as the lengthy bike path stretches from downtown to Kanata.
