Description of the Pahoa vacation home rental
Enjoy watching the whales breach and the turtles play in the waves during the day. At night, let the sound of the waves lull you to sleep in this beautiful private home located in Pahoa. This custom two story oceanfront, east-side of Hawaii, home is so close to the gorgeous Pacific Ocean you’ll feel like you are on a cruise ship. This house has 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths and 180 degrees of unobstructed views where you can watch colorful sunrises and marine life like whales, dolphins, and turtles play in the ocean. Have an enjoyable Hawaiian vacation where you can listen to the waves and feel the ocean breezes. The home is located near the most eastern tip of the Big Island and due to tradewinds and seabreezes is almost always free of VOG (volcanic Haze) that affects the air quality in other parts of the island.

Our home has been lovingly prepared and will make even the most discriminating traveler happy. This home offers peace and relaxation in a dramatic setting with panoramic views of the ocean. Listen to the songs of myna birds at sunrise and sunset. Refresh yourself in the pool or go on a leisurely stroll in the nearby forest.

We are located 30 minutes from Hilo airport. Check-in is from 3:00PM. Check-out is at 10:00AM, unless other arrangements have been made. Directions will be e-mailed to you upon confirmation.

Rental far exceeds pictures and reviews

Date of Stay August 13, 2013

This house is amazing. You can not beat the views. We looked at other houses on the same street and once we got there we knew we chose the best one. If you want to experience "real Hawaii" this a great place located in a quite neighborhood. Perfect to relax at night and enjoy the ocean. There are many beaches and sights that are close by on a scenic coastline road that travels through tropical forests and old lava flows. The owners have a great binder that has all the places mapped out.

Tropical Storm Flossie

Date of Stay July 27, 2013

Hi, We had a wonderful time in this house. It was exactly as the pictures show, comfortable and clean. We saw spinner dolphins close to shore at sunset on our first night and the Sunday framers market was great. Thanks for all the suggestions of things to do in the area. Puna is a special place. Our visit overlapped with the approach of Tropical Storm Flossie and we especially want to thank Melissa for keeping us informed, being in touch and available. The idea of having to evacuate at 4am was a little unnerving but knowing she was nearby was comforting. Fortunately it passed by in the night with just some high surf and lots of wind and rain. Kinda exciting. All in all a beautiful stay! Thanks.

Be sure to consider this rental

Date of Stay July 5, 2013

This was an awesome location on the water. Very spacious. We couldn't have been happier with the rental and would definitely rent again. Owners were very easy to work with and very professional. If looking for a rental property in this area, you have to consider this one! Lava boat tour was great! We also took the bike ride down Volcano Natl Park and thought that was a great way to see the highlights of the park and get some narrative as well.

Great House, Great Location

Date of Stay June 21, 2013

This is a great house to just relax and visit all of the sights on the eastern side of the big island. Jen (owner) and Melissa (caretaker) both went out of their way to help us on our trip as much as possible. There is no air conditioning in the house, which at first scared me. However, the moderate temperatures in Hawaii and the trade winds off of the ocean make the temperature inside just about as perfect as can be. The ocean view is also simply beautiful and can be enjoyed from the living room or the two upstairs decks. All of the rooms are nice and spacious, bedrooms and bathrooms included. The kitchen has a large number of utensils for a rental and there are even a good amount of dry spices at the house. The pool is very nice and offers a great view of the water as well. The location of the house is on a very quiet, residential street. I was there 10 days and can honestly say I never saw another car on the road besides ours. The next door neighbors are pretty close so you won't feel totally secluded, but they were never a problem either. The house is about 10 minutes outside of the town of Pahoa, which has a grocery store, a few restaurants, and a little bit of shopping available. Nothing fancy...just a cool little town. Here are a few places we visited with the amount of time it took for us to get there: Volcanoes Nat'l Park - 45 minutes Punaluu Black Sand Beach - 75 min Akaka Falls/Honomu - 45 min Ahalanui Hot Pond - 30 min Lava Tree State Park - 20 min Hilo Zoo - 30 min For the money, I really don't think you can beat what you can get with this house. If you've never visited the island before, the eastern side is very rocky with very little in the way of beachfront housing. If you want your own private beach, the eastern side is not for you. If you're ok with a great ocean view and swimming in a nice pool at a very reasonable price, this house will not disappoint. The only real missing aspect of the house that I could find is that it could be more child friendly. The house does not have a crib or a high chair (though Melissa was able to borrow a high chair for us). Also, I was a little concerned about the cliff/rock wall, having a 2 year old and a 1 year old. However, it was not at all a problem, partially due to the rocks around the pool which acted as a bit of a barrier to the older one venturing off on her own. All in all, awesome house and in a great location. I highly recommend this home.

Great place to spend quality time with family.

Date of Stay June 6, 2013

We had such a wonderful time here. The house and property had everything you could need and more. The set up of the house house was amazing right down to the last detail. Having the pool was such a bonus, our kids swam from morning 'til night. We could sit upstairs on the lanai and relax, visit, and read while the kids swan all day. An amazing place for a family to spend some quality time together. We had such a great time, we are looking forward to going back next year. Thank you Jennifer!!!

Perfect getaway

Date of Stay May 26, 2013

The perfect setting overlooking the beautiful ocean! The home was very comfortable and clean! It included all the amentities and then some; The private pool, outside shower, the views, and even snorkle gear and ice chests! We found the snorkles and ice chests to be very useful on the days we spent driving and exploring the island! The foliage all around the neighborhood and Hio area was spectacular, to say the least! Very much like driving through a tropical forest! The weather was perfect and sunny most every day that we were there! I loved how it rained at night, which would be why the foliage was so green and beautiful! Also, to our surprise, the refundable deposit arrived the very week we came home! Thank you for a fantastic vacation and we cannot wait to come back hopefully next year!

Beautiful oceanfront home on lava cliffs - Perfect for site-seeing and relaxing

Date of Stay May 2, 2013

This was our first trip to the Big Island. I am so glad I stumbled across this home while on Vacation Rental By Owner/Home Away sites. Something just looked right as I read the listing and communicated with Jennifer. Turns out that my sense was right as this was a wonderful place for us to call home for our time on the Big Island. I brought with me my wife and 2 kids (20 & 14 yrs old) as well as my 71 year old Mother-in-law. We ended eat much there as we were too busy seeing everything there is to see on this island but the meals we did have were no problem including the night that my 20 yr old son wanted to BBQ for us all. The pool also wanted used much but when we did use it the temperature was perfect and the size was good. I think the thing I enjoyed most about this home (out of many things) was sitting on the wall in the morning watching the sunrise over the ocean and taking some time to be still and take in the wonders of God's creation. Thank you Jennifer and Melissa for everything you did to make the arrangements easy and the stay wonderful. Little things like the binder with suggestions for everything from Volcano viewing to Restaurants was used and appreciated very much. There were so many things you provided that we didn't have time to use including the snorkeling gear, boogie boards, music system in the main area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be contacting you again if we ever are back on the Big Island.

Amazing home on the big island!

Date of Stay April 26, 2013

the pictures don't do this place justice, must be seen in person to be fully appreciated! Spacious, clean, and has all mod cons. The pool is an added bonus and the view is spectacular. The nearby town of Pahoa is super cool, and the restaurants are very, very good. Melissa the housekeeper has put together a really comprehensive binder full of local knowledge that's really helpful. If you're coming to see the lava flow, take the boat tour at dusk, truly a "bucket list" experience!! We're already planning our return trip!

Great time in Hawaii

The house was spectacular! Clean, roomy and the ocean literally out the back door....well, just past the pool. The owners have done a wonderful job of providing pretty much anything you may have a need for during your stay. I've highly recommended the house to family members and friends.

Great place to stay

Date of Stay March 15, 2013

Beautiful home in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again. Owner was welcoming and went out of her way to make sure the home fit our needs. The home was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. We found fresh fruit and chilled wine glasses...a very welcoming touch. Melissa met us at the house and briefly went through with us to let us know how things worked. She gave us tips on places we might enjoy seeing. The house worked well for my husband who uses a wheelchair. No problems getting around the house or down to the pool area via the side walkway. Jennifer and Melissa, thank you so much for helping to make our vacation wonderful!
