Area Description
Palm Island, known also as Don Pedro Island, is located between Sarasota and Ft. Myers. Palm Island is a seven mile long, sandy beach, private island. The normal mode of transpotation is the golf cart or you can bring your car over on the ferry. The island is very natural with many birds fish and turtles. The waters in this area provide some of the best back water and gulf fishing in the country. Because the island is 'private', the beaches are never crowded. As you walk along the beach, looking for sea shells, you'll probably not see more than a few people. This is a quiet getaway. If you're looking for the wild, crazy, crowded beach scene, THIS AIN"T IT!! There is one general store with one restaurant and an ice cream parlor on the north end of the island. Enjoy!
