Step back to a time of indulgence and Roman decadence as this exquisite and one-of-a-kind home beckons the most exclusive and discerning Palm Springs Vacationers.

The Estate was formerly owned by Hollywood film star Joseph Cotton who later sold a portion of it including 4 guest casitas to his good friend and colleague, award winning Set Designer and Architect James McNaughton.

James had a dream of designing and building a one of a kind home reminiscent of a time long gone. Although his original discussions with Cotton were not as elaborate, his ideas blossomed into an inspiration of architectural grandeur and decadence which he and his beautiful friends had grown accustom to enjoying.

His home was truly a retreat, an oasis, a salon. It was the regular gathering place for the known and unknown. Young designers came to listen and learn, the famous came to bask in the warmth of their wonderful host as well as the Palm Springs sun.

It was not unusual to find a curious mixture of guests including George Montgomery, Robert Taylor, Natalie Wood, Joseph Cotton, Johnny Mercer, Lloyd Bridges, Tom Bosley, Mr. Blackwell, Trini Lopez, Van Clyburn, Kate Starr, Bruno Bernard, Earl Wild, Bijon, Michael Dante, Kirk Douglas and his family, Hermione Gingold, Patrice Munsel, Olympic Champion Ronnie Robertson, Margaret Whiting, and many other glamorous figures.

As with the traditional Architecture of Pompeii, this home was built with a serene pool (in lieu of a garden) and fountain that is all situated in the center of the home and within its peristyle. Adjacent to the main entry into the home are 2 private guest suites. As you enter the front door, you are captivated by the home 's grand staircase that has been meticulously hand painted. As you reach the top of the stairs, you will be drawn into one of the home 's many gathering areas to include the Living room to the left, the dinning room and kitchen to the right, the pool, or the outdoor living room that includes a wood burning fireplace.

The Master suite, 4th guest suite and an additional bedroom all open onto the pool area, while the Master may be entered through the home as well.

The home has been professionally decorated and boasts every amenity to make your stay most pleasurable at Villa Pompeii.
