Our apartment building is just at the corner of the rue de Grenelle and the Boulevard Raspail. It's 1 minute from the subway station (Rue du Bac), and 3 minutes from the "Le Bon March" (Paris's equivalent of Saks Fifth Avenue).
The apartment is in a "Directoire" style building, approached by entering through a long courtyard, decorated with green plants. There is no elevator, but the wooden stairwell has been well maintained, and spacious to climb up to the third and the last floor easily.
The apartment is 220 square feet, charming and cosy. It has been completely renovated in the spring of 2003. There is a big window looking out onto the courtyard and the little garden next door. Modern conveniences include a small but well-equipped kitchen, bathroom with spacious shower, washer-dryer, and electric heating. As for the furnishings, they are also new as of this year (2003), and include a top quality double bed, a television with English language channels, etc.. We could also supply a comfortable folding bed upon request. But the apartment cannot accommodate more than two adults, but could possibly suit a couple with a very small child (there would be an additional charge). Naturally, we supply towels, sheets, duvets, and other necessities.

As for more practical concerns, a two-minute walk from our front door takes you to the intersection of Boulevard St. Germain and Boulevard Raspail. Here, there are bus-stops (leading to virtually everywhere in Paris), a taxi stand, and a Metro station (Rue du Bac). There are several banks, a post office, numerous cafes and restaurants, as well as a variety of other useful shops. These include bakeries, a butcher shop, a fish market, an excellent "traiteur" (selling superb take-away food), and a grocery shop open 24 hours a day.
If you plan to have a car with you during your stay in Paris, there is a public underground parking garage beneath the Rue du Bac. If you would like to rent a car for a day or two, there is a Renault Dealership right next door to this apartment. They offer a complete range of vehicles to rent, from tiny compacts to minivans.
For Shopping:
For those who are more interested in shopping than sightseeing, the immediate area is also full of famous designer shops (Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton...), as well as lesser known but equally chic Parisian boutiques. The high-end department store - "Le Bon Marche" is 2 minutes away from the apartment. And because Saint Germain des Pres is home to so many of the city's most fashionable people, the streets themselves provide a glimpse of elegant Parisien style.
For Gourmets:
Within a five-minute walk of the apartment are two major attractions for food lovers: La Grande Epicerie de Paris, and the Organic Market. Gourmet magazine (March, 2001) referred to La Grande Epicerie as "The ultimate grocery store...the first place we stop when we arrive in town". The same issue of Gourmet describes the Organic Market (an open-air street market held every Sunday morning on Boulevard Raspail) as "by far the best-known and trendiest of Paris's outdoor markets".
Whether you are visiting Paris for the culture, for the shops, or for the food (or all three!), our apartment on the Rue du Bac is the perfect place for beginning and ending each day's adventures.

We would recommend this for the location but, we would not recommend for the following reasons: We paid as much as a 4 star hotel but received 1 star service. 1. We were told to ask someone on the street for directions to the apartment when we were lost. 2. When we arrived we were tired from transporting our luggage around and trying to find the apartment with no help, only to find that we had to hike back down three flights of stairs to buy toilet paper and paper towels. 3. The pictures look much bigger than the apartment actually is. It is no bigger than a standard hotel room. 4. As hot as it was, there was only a down comforter and no sheet to cover ourselves with. 5. There was a 1' by 1' hole exposing wires in the bathroom ceiling. 6. We were told that phone calls within France were free but ended up having to pay to call the owner herself. Read this review and decide for yourself.

We absolutely loved the apartment ! It is so cozy and comfortable, in a fantastic location. The detailed instruction book was most helpful. Having so much space compared to a hotel room was a real joy, and my niece and nephew felt like real Parisians as opposed to tourists on their first visit here.
Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. We would love to stay here again soon!

Hi Yinying! We had such a great time, despite the problems with my feet. Your apartment was truly lovely and very comfortable. You have very nice furnishings and decor. Thank you for your hospitality! I hope I will be able to return to beautiful Paris again someday!

Dear Yinying,
Your apartment was perfect! Quiet, safe, comfortable, tastefully decorated, thoughtfully equipped, including great bed reading lights, walking close to the Louvre, Marais, Latin Quarter, Notre Dame, outdoor food market, and, best of all, only two minutes away from one of the best boulangeries in Paris. Your personal help made it extra special!
Our visit at your apartment could not have been nicer. If we can get away to Paris again, we will be contacting you for certain. Ann and I really appreciated your help- the morning cafe conversation, your help connecting with our friends, your suggestions, and our visit with you and Chris in our Paris home.

Dear yinying,
Just wanted to let you know that our two weeks in Paris were a complete success, thanks to you and your wonderfully comfortable apartment. The apartment and neighborhood was special, allowing a truly rich and relaxing vacation.
We will certainly recommend your apartment highly to anyone we learn is looking for a place to stay. We had such a great time that we really not ready to come home last week. We wanted our holiday to continue forever.
Patricia, Sadie and I particularly want to express our appreciation for your wonderful hospitality during our stay, making sure we had everything we needed. We all hope we have a chance to see you again in the near future, either in California or Paris.
