We loved our one week stay at Gene and Deborah's apartment on Blvd Bourdon in the 4th A. The apartment was walking distance from all of our favorite neighborhoods including the Isle Saint Louis, the Marais, Notre Dame, Bastille and Saint-Germain. There were 4 Metro stations all within 5 minutes walk, and many good small restaurants in the neighborhood. The Boulanger 50 meters away had the best croissants and baguettes for breakfast and lunch. The kitchen was compact but was supplied with everything we needed, plus things we didn't think we needed, like an orange juice squeezer and espresso maker. There was an airy sun filled living room with comfortable armchairs and sofa for reading or watching TV, and a sunny dining area where we enjoyed our breakfasts. On warm days we could have tea or coffee on a little veranda overlooking the Canal Saint-Martin. The wi-fi and phone service were great and there was a washer dryer which made it possible to travel lighter. All the plumbing worked great, including a nice shower/bath. The separate toilet was a bit tight. Gene provided lots of good written orientation materials and restaurant recommendations to make our stay easier. The owners were also happy to offer advice by phone if needed. All in all it couldn't have worked out better for the three of us (married couple plus single friend). This was by far our best visit to Paris, thanks to the lovely apartment and our helpful hosts. We recommend without reservation. It looks even better than the pictures!
We stayed in Eugene's lovely apartment on the canal for a week at the end of May 2013. It was the perfect choice for our family of four, with 2 kids aged 8 and 11, during a week of unseasonably cold wet weather. On a couple of days, defeated by the elements, we were very pleased to beat retreat to our charming accommodation, to sip wine and relax, and feel that even though we weren't on the boulevards or in the museums we were still enjoying 'la vie parisienne'. The apartment is very spacious, with 2 quiet and good sized bedrooms (even with exploding suitcases spilling onto the floor) and an excellent shower and hot water system. The lounge and dining rooms are flooded with light from the pretty French doors, and are tastefully furnished. The kitchen is tucked away in a small room, with charming blue and white tiles, and all the equipment and crockery you need. We didn't cook anything while we were there, although I'd planned to after watching 'Julie and Julia'! Instead we ate a big lunch or an early dinner at one of the nearby restaurants. The Ile st Louis, a 10 minute walk away across the Seine, has some very atmospheric restaurants down a cobbled lane way, which we kept returning to. Place de la Bastille is a 5min walk in the other direction, and there you can pick up great food at the Richard Lenoir market and hop on the metro to just about anywhere in Paris. St Paul and the Marais, with its meandering medieval streets and gorgeous little shops is a pleasant stroll away too. The boulangerie (bakery) just around the corner fulfilled all my dreams of the Paris life - popping down there in the morning to pick up some pain au chocolat and baguettes, to eat at the sun soaked dining table by the French doors, while gazing across the canal. It doesn't get much better than that! The apartment was very clean, with fresh linen on the very comfortable beds, and lots of spare towels. Eugene was very helpful in organising the key handover and provided detailed instructions that ensured we got into the apartment without any hiccups. We connected to the WiFi without problems and it was fast enough to keep my techno geek husband happy. Overall, I would highly recommend this place, and wouldn't stay anywhere else if I'm ever lucky enough to return to Paris.

If you want a spacious apartment to call home for your time in Paris, this is it. It is just as the owner, Gene, describes. Close to Bastille and Marche Aligre (a "must do" on Sunday morning for fresh produce). Living and dining rooms facing directly to the Arsenal Canal. Quiet bedrooms across the hall from the LR/DR allow for a peaceful sleep. Secure access. FREE internet AND long distance phone! Three minute walk to Metro. My wife and I were very pleased with everything about this apartment, especially the separate dining room which made mealtime quite enjoyable. Bookcase with lots of Paris info books in case you don't bring yours. Kitchen is small but very efficient and cooking was never a problem. We thoroughly enjoyed our Paris "home" and would definitely return. Gene is an easy owner to deal with, which is an added plus. Highly recommended.
