Quiet and peaceful retreat!
March 25, 2013
We spent Zinfandel Fest weekend at Shanagolden and it was ideally located and reasonably priced. The views are wonderful and the location is quiet and peaceful. Kristin had the fridge stocked with everything we needed for breakfast and also left us fresh baked scones - delicious! The home is comfortable and welcoming and we enjoyed listening to the old vinyl records and playing the games in the upstairs living room. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely quiet oasis in Paso area
March 15, 2013
4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shanagolden, complete with freshly baked scones, a fridge stocked with breakfast supplies ,and fresh fruit. We enjoyed barbequing our dinners, while sipping local wines. There are trails that start on the property and then continue if you want a longer excursion. There was no TV or internet, but for me it was a nice break from our constant connectedness. I can highly recommend Shanagolden as a very relaxing and comfortably place to stay, and hope I can return soon!

Girls' Weekend
November 5, 2012
Each year my the ladies of my family (aunts & cousins) get together for a long weekend. We do puzzles, crafts, play, sing, shop and solve the world's problems. Shannagolden was the perfect setting. Close to shopping, yet secluded and private. A good central location for my family. We had a great time and would definitely return. Thanks Kristin!

peaceful Serenity
July 8, 2012
This property is beautiful! We were a family group of 8 women and two babies and had so much space! all the bedrooms are large and beautifully decorated, as is the rest of the house. The homemade scones were the best I have had outside of Ireland!!! I cannot say enough about the beautiful, peaceful surrounding grounds. The patio area with the view, the peaceful lower deck, the remote, tranquil swing or the higher path bench, all offered beautiful views of the woods and complete peace and quiet! the location is perfect for exploring Cambria, Hearst Castle, Wineries, Morro Bay as it is smack dab in the middle of all, but so remote you think you are hours from civilization...when really it is only about 10-15 minutes! We all loved this place so much, we will be coming back again next year with our same group. It was great after a day of sight seeing and wine tasting to be able to come " home" and enjoy our wine and cheese on the patio, relaxing and bbqing some great veggies purchased at the farmers market in Templeton as well as some great steaks bought at Trader Joes! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to get off the beaten path and enjoy some beautiful nature. perfect for families as it has lots of room to spread out, nature trails for kids to explore and really get away from all the electronics! Great for groups or a few couples friends traveling together.

Wonderful Home Base for Wine Tasting!
September 7, 2011
Our group of five stayed at Kristin's property this past weekend. We cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had staying at Shanagolden! Kristin was an incredible host. She greeted us at the driveway and led us to the house. She then proceeded to show us around, at which time we noticed the little touches that make her the wonderful host she is. She had left us some goodies such as bacon, cereal, etc. for breakfast plus some freshly-baked berry scones for our tasting pleasure. The house had plenty of room for us. As I said, we were five adults but there was easily room enough for three more. One of the bedrooms went unused. Speaking of which, the bedrooms are very nice size, along with the living areas. So having 4 couple would be fine - plenty of elbow room for everyone. In addition, the backyard was so serene and quiet. There are no neighbors around and you truly feel like one with nature. Kristin's property truly is peaceful and a great retreat from anyone seeking to get away from the daily hussle and buzzle. The house is conveniently located between the Paso wineries and the coast. One day, some of us went to Cayucos (the coast) after some wine tasting. They made it back in plenty of time for dinner. Speaking of which, we had planned to have dinner in downtown Paso a couple of nights, but never did. After a long day of wine tasting and sightseeing, the property lended itself to just staying in. We bought some groceries and cooked every night. We congregated in the backyard while grilling and sipping wine. The weather in the evenings was great to go along with the beautiful setting of the backyard area. All in all, a wonderful vacation in a great house! We are already looking forward to visiting Shanagolden next year!

Very Special Property
August 1, 2011
We had such a great vacation at Kristin & Alan's property. It was perfect for us. So relaxing and the area is really beautiful. We ended up wine tasting during the day but arriving home in time for wine and cheese on the wonderful deck surrounded by trees. We would definitely come back to this property. It feels staying at a friends home, very comfortable. We spent quality time with our family and it was perfect.....best vacation ever!

Great price + family owned & operated = amazing!
July 6, 2011
No extra cleaning and "booking" fees make this place affordable, unlike those run by property companies. The owner is very accommodating, helpful and easy to work with. Right away these two factors took so much stress out of planning my trip. We were also very pleased with the place when we got there. The patio is amazing, plus walking trails, a creek plus breathtaking vineyards and wineries up and down the main street. The inside of the house is cozy and comfortable, not too fancy, like a family cabin would be. I'll be coming back for sure.

Home-like Retreat!
May 11, 2011
We cannot say enough good things about Shanagolden Ranch Retreat - we enjoyed our stay so much. The retreat possesses a balance of home, retreat and sanctuary. Nestled in the woods it is beautiful and modern, yet maintains that retreat-like feel. There is plenty of room for a large crowd, yet feels cozy for just one or two people. The house is laid out in such a fashion as to afford privacy, while providing room for everyone. It has a museum-like quality with beautiful artwork, books and decor. One could never be bored - there is so much to look at and explore - both indoors and out. We will definitely be returning to Shanagolden Ranch Retreat

We loved the home, the grounds and the total atmosphere of relaxation. The area is in the wine country with rolling hills around. Nice feel of country life, removed from city. The scones were hot and tasty too!

A wonderful escape minutes from Paso Robles
May 4, 2011
The relative seclusion of this wonderful house was lifting to the spirit from the moment we arrived. Kristen was amazingly nice, the house was perfect, my entire family and I wanted to stay forever. Less than 10 mins from one of my favorite breweries, surrounded by wineries, and just 20 mins from the coast. I have never found a more complete and wonderful vacation home in my life.

Peace and Quiet in Paso
November 15, 2010
There were 3 couples and a dog who stayed at the Shanagolden Ranch Retreat. We spent the days touring the wineries in the area and retired back to Shanagolden in the afternoon. There were great trails for walking the dog and ourselves. We enjoyed a fire in the evening and cooked our breakfast and dinners rather than going out. There was plenty of space for us all and the setting was just perfect.

We loved the Shanagolden Ranch Retreat!
October 7, 2010
I was in Paso Robles to attend a wedding with members of my extended family. We wanted to all stay together and the Shanagolden Ranch Retreat was perfect! The house provided a space for the kids to hand out together and a living room for the adults to talk. The surroundings are beautiful! We enjoyed our stay. And the scones were amazing! Kristin is a very kind hostess.

Wonderful experience
July 27, 2010
We had such a good time at your home. Everything was clean and there was nothing that we needed that wasn't in the house. Thank you for the yummy scones and leaving us breakfast. The views from the home were lovely, we enjoyed the quiet and breakfast on the deck was pretty sweet too! and it was SO close to the wineries that we barely had to go far to enjoy what Paso has to offer. Thanks again!

Kristin was very helpful and very accommodating to our large group. The house is very nice and in a very relaxing area off of the 46. It is very close to the wineries and we had no problem getting to them for tasting. Thanks for everything, I definitely recommend staying here!
