Description of the Playa Grande vacation villa rental

Villa Olivia is a deluxe two story oceanfront vacation home rental located on the pristine sandy beach of Playa Grande. The mediteranean style architecture of this Costa Rica beach house emphasizes open spaces and large verandas. Furnishings and decor are contemporary and comfortable, many custom-made from local hardwoods. Tropical gardens, banana, palm and coconut trees create an intimate atmosphere.

All bedrooms are furnished with air conditioning, private bathrooms and safe boxes.

Room 1: 2 twin beds
Room 2: queen bed
Room 3: queen bed
Room 4: 1 twin and 1 double bed

Studio: queen, twin bed, and single futon bed. It is equipped with a kitchen and features a spacious countryside deck and wet bar.

Include in the rental rate is room cleaning every third day and nightly evening security. Daily maid service is available at an additional cost.


Villa Olivia offers a perfect and uncomplicated oceanfront vacation in Costa Rica, specifically designed for couples, friends, families, or groups. Along with our other villa located next door, Casa Mirage,we can accommodate up to 26 guests.

Playa Grande stretches over two miles along the magnificent northwest pacific coastline of Costa Rica, 30 min. north of Playa Tamarindo and 30 min. south of Playa Flamingo. This Costa Rica vacation rental sits on the northern end of Playa Grande near the big rock. Villa Olivia is in a secluded and undeveloped beach community of only a dozen oceanfront vacation/retirement homes and one oceanfront hotel with restaurant, the Las Tortugas. Inland there are 4 small hotel/restaurants, 2 restaurants, a pulperia, and surf shop. Two markets are only 5 minutes away by car, a pharmacy and emergency clinic are 20 minutes away.

Playa Grande is a national park protecting the nesting site of the Giant Leatherback turtles (Oct - Mar), Explore the tidal pools around the volcanic rocks and walk to the northern coves, ending in a black sand beach, Enjoy world-class Surfing, and golfing, Take a horseback ride, canopy tour, kayak in the estuary, sunset cruise, or snorkel/dive, Hike through Rincon De La Vieja or Palo Verde National Park.

Spacious outside dinning, kitchenete, wet bars, 2 extensive wrap-a-round oceanfront verandas, spacious countryside deck with rancho,and shaded courtyard. Air-conditioning, ceiling fans, safe box, and private bathrooms in every room. Enjoy hammocks, lounge chairs, & rocking chairs, outdoor BBQ, and bali shower. Room cleaning provided every third day, linens & towels are included. Boogie boards and surfboards are available to rent.

This was probably the best vacation ever for most of the 11 people in our group. Pros: Great oceanfront area. The prepared food was amazing. The villa is located on a great spot. Marianela, the caretaker, helped us plan some great activities...Catamaran tour w/ snorkeling/kayaking/open bar, Palo Verde River tour, Witches Rock Canopy Tour, Deep Sea Fishing, Boogie Boarding, full day at the Rincon de la Vieja, surf lessons, and massages. The night watchman made us feel safe. Cons: At night we couldn't spend too much time in the kitchen/living area because of the bugs and heat, but the studio was a great place to play games and hang out. We probably should have gotten a cell phone rental as there was no phone/internet at the villa for our use and we couldn't get a pay phone to work when we got lost. We hired a driver for the Rincon trip, but he took us to the wrong place at first and drove very very slowly.
