Description of the Playa del Carmen vacation condo rental
Xaman-Ha Grand Penthouse 7209 is a beautiful beach front condo in Playa del Carmen's exclusive "Playacar" section. Xaman Ha is on the beach just a short walk (aprox. 300 meters) south of the ferry dock to Cozumel in Playa del Carmen (just south of Palace Resort).
The Grand Penthouse at Xaman Ha offers a Chef's kitchen and an open dining and living room area. Each room has cable TV and DVD - VHS players. The BEST balcony in Playa is just off the living room and dining room and offers a spectacular view to the Caribbean and a chance to enjoy the tropical breeze. The Premier Penthouse unit features the most remarkable views from it's incredible balcony. While other units offer lovely views, this penthouse offers a balcony and view that can't be matched in all of Xaman Ha.
Down by the water, the pool deck is very large with lots of room to sunbathe. An elevated shade pavilion between the pool and beach gives a perfect vantage point for viewing both while comfortably out of the sun. The Xaman Ha pool is tremendous, with a bridge span. Snacks and drinks are served during busy times at the tiled "bar stool" seats built-in and plenty of shallow area for young swimmers. 300 meters north along the beach is Senior Frogs, Carlos & Charlie's, Johnny Rockets and La Bodega de Media from Cuba restaurants, shopping, the ferry; essentially all of "Playa del Carmen" is at your feet.
Area Description
Playacar is a manicured up-scale secure gated residential/ hotel area that defines the southern part of Playa del Carmen. It was designed from the ground up to create a sophisticated environment for the tropical lifestyle. Some points of interest within Playacar are small Maya archaeological sites located thru out the area. The Xaman Ha tropical bird aviary has many of the more spectacular bird species to be found in the Yucatan. Sporting attractions include world class fishing, an 18 hole golf course (it includes all drinks and meals), tennis courts and club house.
Beach front and 2 min walk to Playa's 5th avenue
All the rooms were nicely furnished and well maintained. The queen beds in the third bedroom were a bit hard (according to my daughter and granddaughter). Four T.V.'s with dvd and video players and loads of books, dvds and videos. The kitchen was nicely equipped - we only ate breakfast there. There was plenty of room for everyone. The balcony was great. Several lounge chairs, table and chairs and all with a fantastic view.
Pool and grounds were clean and well taken care of. We've been to the property twice (both times in May) and haven't had the opportunity to experience someone working the swim up bar. However, some people staying on the property brought a cooler and a radio to the bar area several days. It was nice to have some music while hanging out at the pool. The beach was in this time. Last year there wasn't one. Water was great - some great waves for our grandkids to do some body surfing. Spa services were offered.
The location was fantastic. We were minutes from downtown. The majority of restaurants we ate at were very good - a bit spendy though. We came prepared. Los Rancheros was highly recommended, but we had a bad experience there. Received two meals we didn't order and when checking our bill we were over charged by $65.00 (American). Although the food wasn't too bad the service wasn't the best . I'm not sure we'd go back. We ate some great Mexican food for lunch - and chips and salsa varied from place to place so we never got sick of eating them one or two times a day.
Walmart Super Store was within walking distance. We had to take a cab back once after a mega shopping spree (mostly food and drinks) - it cost $5.00 - not bad. When we arrived we bought some alcoholic beverages down on 5th Ave. and we found the same items much cheaper at Walmart. If you're in to ice cream Baskin Robbins was way, way over priced. After almost having to re-mortgage our home we discovered McDonalds ice cream cones and sundaes were under a $1.00. A trip to McDonalds and some fresh Churros from a street vendor became a daily event.
We really enjoyed our trip to Playa Del Carmen and would highly recommend the Grand Penthouse for a family.

the only thing is the ferry ,it's smell a lot when the live the quay
but except that we had e very nice week at the xaman ha grand condo
we recomande for all of you.
John, the owner, was always available to us by phone. But
Esperanza, and Juan, who manged the property, and Mary who cleaned our unit, were helpful above and beyond the call of duty. Juan was like our private concierge and he and Esperanza immediately addressed and fixed any little problem that came up. Besides always being available to us, they are just really nice
people. I’m glad I met them. Mary wanted to cook a typical Mexican supper for us, which was very special. Mary surprised me with flowers for Valentine's Day. Such a memorable experience.!! The Mexican people we met were wonderful. It rained a few days during our stay, so we just watched some videos on the VCR. John has lots and lots of videos to choose from.
We found great food at the Italian restaurant, Casa Mediterranea on 5 avenue between 6 & 8 streets on the right side of the avenue going North. We ate there three times.
We had great food at Los Rancheros. The service was great and the waiters were fun. We did our grocery shopping at Soriana’s, a beautiful huge department store/ super market. We drove to Soriana’s on Route 307 going south, just past the second Playacar sign.
Try not to miss Xcaret. We saw the Maya pre-historic dance in the Maya village and then went to the show in the theater. The show was beautiful, and powerful and unforgetable.
We will definitely go back to Xaman-Ha. I think I’ve convinced my niece to come to Xaman-Ha for her honeymoon.
