Area Information
Historic Newburyport, an easy 5 minute, 2.5 mile drive or bike ride, offers a wide variety of shops, antiques, a river walk, museums, live theater, cinema, pubs, seasonal events, and fine restaurants featuring fresh local seafood. There is a Commuter train to Boston. Plum Island is a 40 minute drive from historic Boston/Cambridge on major highways, and has immediate access to the New Hampshire seacoast, mountains and lakes regions, the Maine coast, and points north, south, and west in New England, and Canada.
The world renowned Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and Wildlife Sanctuary is located on Plum Island for birding, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, and casual walks on the beach. The Tidal Basin is less than a 1 minute walk and the main beach is an easy 6 - 7 minute walk. Merrimack River cruises and deep sea fishing trips leave from Plum Island daily in the summer.

Peaceful, comfortable cottage

The cottage is clean, comfortably furnished and offers just about any amenity you could want. I loved walking about Plum Island with my dog while my husband explored on his bicycle. If it were earlier in the season we could have brought our kayaks too. Newburyport is a lovely seaport with many interesting shops and restaurants. I would definitely rent this cottage again.

This is the quietest, most peacful place I have ever lived! I love walking the beach. The ocean breezes are fresh and invigorating! Beautiful and historic Newburyport, with its many amenities, is only 10 minutes away.
