Suprise Birthday Aboard the Slipaway
July 9, 2013
I was looking for the perfect getaway to celebrate by boyfriend's 40th birthday and I found that incredible experience on the Slipaway. There were some communication snafus with booking the stay itself, but once we were on board none of that seemed to matter any longer. The boat was gorgeous, the location impeccable (right on Shelter Island by the Bali Hai) and the captain we had (W.C.) was absolutely fantastic. We all loved him! We had a 2 hour sunset cruise on our first night and a 4 hour day cruise the next day. All in all, it was a success.

We stayed on the Slipaway for our 30th wedding anniversary. What a gem!!! We loved every minute of this too short trip. Shaun recommended some fabulous restaurants and enjoyed each one. Better then any five star hotel. Very quiet and having coffee when the sunrises on deck was spectacular. We have already booked our return trip. Can't say enough good stuff and you won't be disappointed.
You can't Ketch me. I slipped away on the Slipaway

EXACTLY what I was looking for! I needed a quick getaway and the thought of a hotel with all of the stuffiness, noise and structure was just not doing it for me. Shaun was so responsive & helpful in recommending the Slipaway Yacht for our stay. The beautifully varnished woodwork makes this yacht exude pure charm. It felt like a hideaway being bunkered down in there. The Slipaway is clean and tastefully decorated and not at all cluttered. It's equipped with a small old fashioned cooler and separate ice box, toaster, microwave, stove, gas grill, coffee maker, dishes, kitchen utensils, glasses and cutlery. They provided juice, yogurt, coffee, fresh fruit, oatmeal and complimentary ice. The boat has fresh linens, blankets and a comfy bed. There are fans, portable heaters, cushions, flat screen tvs and a radio. There was plenty of little cabinets, drawers and cubbies to store everything and keep the yacht from feeling cluttery. It was so relaxing to be gently swayed to sleep and then to awaken and sit outside in the fresh sea filled air with NO hotel noise. We didn't even mind the airport noise. It was nice to watch the planes take off over the ocean. The facilities on site were very close and fully equipped with shower stalls, restrooms, a laundry facility, rec room and fitness center. Everyone we encountered were friendly and considerate. Parking is free in the middle lot. There was never a need to leave the premises. It was perfect. I even scheduled a massage from Mobile Exquisite Massage. Not having seen the boat, I didn't realize there wasn't enough room inside. The two therapists arrived and with quick thinking, they set us up with two massage tables right on the deck. We had a couples massage at 8:15pm in the cool night air under the blanket of stars. The Slipaway was absolutely PERFECT for that relaxing experience! The yacht was like an antique treasure with all of the modern comforts. It was the best experience and as much as I'd rather keep this little gem 'our little secret', I know it's only fair to share. Thank you again! You guys really did think of everything!!!

We stayed on the Silver Cloud. What a great weekend - everything we wanted and more - great location, great boat!!! Thanks Shaun for everything!
Truely a wonderful experience. Best Ever!
February 27, 2013
We wanted the boating livaboard experience and this boat was just the ticket. It is nice and roomy. The main sleeping area in the stern is to die for. We could hear the fog horn way off in the distance. That was about the only sound that we could hear. Not a hotel, with having to listen to those around you. You can feel the boat move, once in a while, and that just adds to the experience. It was everything I had hoped for and more. The staff were helpfull and friendly. We will do this again.
The Slipaway was wonderful!
October 16, 2012
My girlfriend and I came over from Goodyear, Arizona, for a quiet weekend together. The Slipaway was different then the usual hotel room, and with the way it's set up, was so much fun! The staff member was great getting us checked in, and the boat/facilities were clean and nicely maintained. Staying on Shelter Island was neat with all the dining options within walking distance! We'll be back!!!

Relax and let your stress "slip away"
September 23, 2012
What a wonderful experience. If you are stressed out and need a break, I would suggest renting the "Slipaway". It is a beautifully restored 45' sail boat with lots of polished wood and sparkling clean from top to bottom. The boat literally rocks you to sleep. I have never been transported so quickly to a new reality. Every thing one might need has already been thought of ans is provided. Just a short walk and you are sipping Mai Tai's at the Bali Hai. If you only have a few days and want a relaxing experience, The Slipaway is what you deserve. Thanks for a wonderful time!
Loved It !

The absolute best vacation. My 6 year old son LOVED the boat. He woke up early every morning and had his breakfast next to the Captain's wheel. Many pictures were taken and we enjoyed every minute of this trip. We will definitely book again next year.

So much better than a motel room. There is always something interesting to watch whether it’s the sea birds diving for something to eat, the yachts coming in for the evening or the fishing boats headed out to sea. Clean and a short walk or drive to many restaurants. Will go back!! Oh and the boat is super cool!

We love to "Slipaway"
July 3, 2012
We've stayed twice now--once for our anniversary, which was very relaxing and romantic. Then we thought our 9 yr. old daughter would think it was really cool so we did it as a family this year. She DID think it was the coolest thing ever ; ) It's so much fun to be in that environment for a few days, and pretend like you're one of those people who do the boating thing full time! The boat itself is so charming and has almost everything you need. A well-equipped kitchen and a little grill on deck, dining area, comfortable master room. Granted, it's a little compact, and ceilings are low so you have to watch your head, but it's worth it! They even stock the fridge with yogurt, juice and fruit so you can have a nice, lazy breakfast on deck. The only minor drawback is that you need to shower up at the clubhouse, so be sure to bring a shower kit and rubber flipflops. Overall, it's a delight to stay and have the gentle ebb and flow of the marina rock you to sleep each night!

A Great Vacation Weekend!
July 2, 2012
We loved Slipaway. It is a great boat and the hospitality of the owner was suberb. We loved hearing the pelicans and seagulls in the morning and loved watching the boats come and go all day long. It was the perfect staycation for us and much better than any local hotel stay!
Exceeded all expectations!!

Simply a delightful experience! The boat is beautiful. The location perfect for any sightseeing you might want to do, along with several fantastic restaurants within walking distance. Shaun & staff were professional, courteous, and helpful. The attention to detail as to the comfort of their guests was above and beyond. Would definitely recommend the Slipaway to anyone seeking a unique, tranquil & romantic getaway, and will definitely be coming to stay again! Thanks Shaun!!!

What a perfect get away for my daughter, grand daughter and I. Slipaway was wonderful and Shaun and her staff took excellent care of us making sure we had everything we needed while we were there and provided valuable information on the area of where to go and what to do. It was a special treat to go sailing on the same boat that was our oasis as well. I will defiantly be back to stay on Slipaway again.

Gotta love the Slipaway!
May 6, 2012
I was looking for something different when I booked an eight-day roadtrip in Southern California, so I was pretty excited when I heard about the Slipaway. I spent three days on board and was not dissapointed. What a treat! There was a lot more room than I expected and the boat is very well maintained. We got to enjoy eating fresh seafood on the deck with a sunset as the background. And the boat has all the amenities, like cable tv, a bag of ice, a kitchen with everything you need to cook and even a selection of DVDs. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to San Diego!

Beautiful retreat. We celebrated my birthday in style with guests. And there's no better way to fall asleep than on a gently rocking bed! The support staff was nearby and made sure we had all we needed. The internet connection was a bit unreliable, but you should leave your work at home anyway.

Spent nine days on Slipaway and had a wonderful time. The staff and facilities were great and very accomadating. The Slipaway is very charming and full of character, very relaxing. Waking up on the water with that fresh air and sense of being part of the Marina community was enjoyable. I would certainly recommend it and hope to go back for another stay. A much nicer feel than a boring hotel room!

Great experience on the Slipaway
January 2, 2012
Service was superb with very friendly people who provided anything we wanted. We loved the location which provided us with a great place to run, many good restaurants within walking distance and an easy drive to San Diego. Breakfast is very light. Nice, comfy bed. We had a 3-hour cruise which was enjoyable but would have liked an actual sail not motor cruise and didn't realize we wouldn't be sailing until the captain came aboard. It's obvious how much love and attention has gone into the Slipaway and we appreciate that care.

The weather in San Diego did not cooperate for our special weekend getaway; it was rainy, wet, and cold. Yet, this was the most wonderful weekend we have had in a long time! All of it was thanks to our "B & B"; Slipaway! The yacht was GREAT and romantic. The staff at the marina was superior. All of this before our trip to the vineyards; WOW! I would recommend Slipaway to anyone and everyone who is looking for that special getaway.

Perfect Romantic Anniversary Weekend
September 1, 2011
We stayed on the Slipaway for two nights in celebration of our one year wedding anniversary. The boat was absolutely beautiful and spotless! It's been restored and is a piece of art! Shaun, the marina manager, took her time to give us a detailed tour of the boat. She stocked the boat with fruits and goodies. We brought our own SUPs and bikes so that we could go out and enjoy San Diego, but we had a hard time even leaving the boat. The marina was impecable and and quiet! We would much rather stay on the Slipaway than any 5 star hotel. It was better than we had imagined it would be. We will definitely return!
Charming and Unique
August 25, 2011
Slipaway was a wonderful experience from the moment we stepped on board. Staying aboard the boat made our trip so unique. When we arrived, we received a tour of the boat and realized we had a cozy little home away from home. The first night we got to grill steaks right on the deck and enjoy a home cooked meal with the sun setting over the marina. It was so peaceful on the water. It was indescribeable to wake up in the morning and sip a hot cup of coffee while watching the boats set out for some fun on the water. Management went out of their way to ensure our needs were met. Whether you desired to sit on deck or relax inside with a good movie, everything was at your fingertips from deck mats and chairs to flatscreen TV's and DVD players. We were even provided with food, such as fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee and orange juice. This experience could not be matched by staying in a hotel room. Staying on Slipaway just melts your stress away, especially with a glass of wine and the peaceful waters. I highly recommend anyone who wishes for a vacation unlike any other to stay aboard Slipaway.
Vacation on board "Slipaway"
August 19, 2011
We really enjoyed our time on "Slipaway" It was perfect for the 2 of us--comfortable bed!! the marina was amazingly quiet, which really surprised us. the boat was very well maintained, and we loved all the teak. Kitchen had everything that we needed. enjoyed morning coffee and wine in the evenings on the deck. We opted to use the shower facility just steps away at the marina---a very nice and clean bathroom/shower facility,...instead of showering on the boat. Loved the close proximity to downtown San Diego. Ate at the Red Sail Inn (just a short walk from the boat) --really delicious and would highly recommend. Barbara (in the marina office )was really helpful with any questions we had.

My husband found this ad through Craigslist and thought it would be a unique accommodation for our stay in California. We had never thought about staying in a boat before. When we arrived, the rental agent gave us a tour of the property and boat. Wow! We were pleasantly surprised that there were more amenities included than we thought. The condition of the boat was amazing. We loved that there was a kitchen and grill to do cooking in. We enjoyed the kayaking and relaxing. We would definitely recommend this to anyone. Thank you for the wonderful time! Perhaps we'll return again real soon!

An Adventurous Getaway
March 22, 2011
We were looking for a unique getaway, someplace by the water, someplace with a good view, and a place that felt like a little "home" instead of a borrowed hotel room. We found every bit of that search in the Slipaway Boat Bed and Breakfast. It was wonderful and memorable. We were able to enjoy the beautiful blue skies of San Diego one day and the stormy seas and howling winds the next. Both of them were fabulous and wonderful to enjoy on the boat. We plan to return with our children again as it would make for a fun family weekend of playing games, eating snacks and going for walks along the beach. Far better than staying in a traditional hotel. We highly recommend it!

When faced with a conference in SD and either a hotel or the slipaway I am so glad I chose the boat. I will do it again in a heartbeat! Will definitely bring my SO back with me! Everyone was great! Despite a day or two rain it was very quiet, minimal motion. Great location
November 18, 2010
A bit like camping on the water, but the foam bed and very gentle rocking makes for a great night's sleep. Plenty to do and great restaurants in the neighborhood.

Thanks Shaun! Everything was great. I absolutely recommend the Slipaway! When faced with attending a conference in SD either a hotel or the boat I chose the boat. It was beautiful, everyone was great and despite a day or two of rain the boat was relaxing and in a great location. Many people have asked how I found it since. WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK!!
