Stunning views of majestic Pu'u Wanawana crater, Ha'upu mountain range, the Pacific, rainbows and sunrises without leaving the resort, Poipu Kai, right from your own yard bordered by bird of paradise flowers and the spacious lanai above. A short walk to excellent snorkeling, boogie boarding, and babies-only beaches of Shipwreck and Poipu, the all-included Pool/Spa/Tennis of our resort, PGA Poipu Bay Golf, as well as elegant restaurants and lounges nearby.
Area Description
Poipu is arguably the best place for vacationing in Kauai, Hawaii. It is almost always dry in Poipu even when it is pouring on the North shore and the trade winds keep the temperatures mild year round. Poipu Beach is rated as one of the best beaches in the USA. You can get to Shipwreck Beach, Poipu Beach and Baby beach from our rental home with a short five minute walk through the lush green belts of the resort Poipu Kai.

Poipu : Vacation homes and hotels in Poipu cover a quarter mile wide strip paralleling the Poipu beach which is made up of several connected and reef protected crescent lagoons stretching about three quarters of a mile from the Baby Beach ( Brenneke beach) to the front of Sheraton Hotel. There is a playground as well as a very shallow and well protected children’s lagoon. Snorkeling is excellent in very shallow waters. Baby beach is great for boogie boarding and Sheraton area is a favorite with surfers. Hyatt hotel and the Shipwreck beach in front of it are at the very east end of the Poipu area. Shipwreck beach is a beautiful beach and a favorite among boogie boarders and surfers but is good for swimming only if you are a good ocean swimmer. Towards the west end of the Poipu area there is another excellent snorkeling beach, Lawai beach, on the way to spouting horn. For locals and repeat visitors the best beach is Mahaulepu, which is about three miles on a sugar cane road from Hyatt Hotel parking. At Mahaulepu you can watch kite surfers, windsurfers and have your private shady corner. Mahaulepu beach stretches for about a mile and if you continue walking east for another mile and half there are two other secret beaches you can hike to.

"While the pictures and description of Bird of Paradise seemed very inviting and beautiful, I was not quite expecting the breathtaking views from the spacious and airy living room of this home. It was the perfect place to pray, meditate, gather one's thoughts and contemplate. The layout of the home flows and it is quite spacious, equipped with everthing a person or persons might need to be comfortable. There is really no need to go to any four star restaurants, as the dining accomodations also showcase a spectacular view of the mountains. The gourmet kitchen and a trip to the local farmer's market could inspire any number of culinary adventures. The cozy bungalow off to the right of the house is simply charming and provides the feeling of being in another time and place. It is conveniently located by the wonderful Poipu and Shipwreck beaches which beckoned me to rise early and experience indescribable sunrises (a mere 5-10 minute walk away).
