Description of the Poipu Beach vacation home rental

Aikane Kauai is one of the closest homes to Poipu Beach and is central to Kauai and ideal for families, couples and small groups. The home has 3 bedrooms and 3 baths and sleeps from 2 to 7. It is fully equipped with snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, free high speed internet access (WiFi) and lots more. It is also one of the few homes with air conditioned bedrooms (wall mounted a/c). Aikane is Hawaiian for "friendly" which best describes this delightful beach house. All new in 2001.

Aikane Kauai was just listed as Editor's Pick in the new Kauai Lonely Planet Guidebook.

The house is one of the closest to Poipu Beach Park with its protected lagoon, wide open grassy areas and playground equipment over a spongy ground surface. Poipu was voted the best kids' beach in the state by readers of Hawaii Magazine and the best beach in America (2003) by Travel Channel TV which selected Poipu for its beauty, sandy bottom lagoon, sunsets, warm people, safety, climate, creature comforts, and other area activities. The shallow sandy lagoon is excellent for the smallest babies. Since this is a family vacation, also consider the superb snorkeling in the adjacent bay, and for the more advanced, body surfing and boogie boarding at Brennecke's Beach and surfing on the outer reefs.

Families are welcome at Aikane Kauai. I tried to be mindful of the creativity and natural inquisitiveness of children so parents can have a relaxing time. The house is equipped with a baby gate for the stairs, a high chair, day crib, board games and a collection of Disney videos. Best of all there is no need to pile into a car, drive, look for parking, etc. Just put on a swim suit and walk around the corner to the beach. See the map.

Travel Light. No need to rent, buy or lug gear. The house comes equipped with about everything you might want for the beach including masks, snorkels, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, beach towels, cooler and sand castle building equipment.

Rates are based on occupancy and length of stay:

Stays longer than 7 nights are pro-rated at the weekly rate.

Holidays (December 15 to January 6): $2400/week, 1 week minimum.

Add Hawaii state tax (12.42%) and cleaning fee ($150 or $195).

Policies:

Reservations: Phone or e-mail to confirm availability. Courtesy reservations can be held for 2 days by your phone or e-mail request.

Deposit: A $250 refundable security/damage deposit is required to confirm your reservations.

Occupancy: Limited to confirmed guests. Not sure about who's all coming? No problem. Your confirmation can be updated any time.

Payment: Requested 90 days prior to your arrival. Traveler's, personal and business checks preferred. Visa and M/C accepted.

Cancellations: Must be in writing by email. Deposits and payments are fully refundable less a $50 fee if cancellation is made at least 90 days prior to your planned arrival. Cancellation notification of less than 90 days may result in forfeiture of the rent. There will be no forfeiture if I am able to re-rent to another party for the period affected by the cancellation. Trip insurance is recommended.

Check in 3pm / Check out 10am. Let me know if you need some
flexibility on these times. I will always accommodate if possible.

Keys: Kept in a lock box by the front door. The current combo will be sent with your payment confirmation.

Master bedroom: Cal king size bed
Bedroom #2: 2 twins OR convert to king
Bedroom #3: 2 twins OR convert to king
Family room: Queen size sofa sleeper

For the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms, we have special doublers consisting of a lambs wool center piece and sturdy strap that goes around the twin mattresses horizontally to keep everything snug making for a very comfortable king size bed. Let me know your preference prior to arrival.

Enjoy the convenience of staying so close to several great sandy beaches. No need to drive, just walk out the front door past 2 houses to the ocean then along the coast past 3 more homes to the first of a string of beaches. Brennecke's Beach and Poipu Beach are the closest.

My home provides a nice balance of convenience without being in an overcrowded area or too remote. It is among the handful of homes by the beach. The hotels in the area are about quarter mile away. There are very nice coastal hikes in the immediate area and spectacular secluded beaches a mile or so east. Very nice to walk from the house to a series of beaches. There are also couple of restaurants within easy walking distance. The larger grocery stores and farmer's market are 1 to 3 miles away.

Something also to consider is staying on the sunny side of the island and where the ocean is far calmer most of the year. The north shore gets the huge waves.

Further Considerations: The county has been cracking down on illegal vacation rentals operating on Kauai and Maui. Aikane Kauai is fully permitted so there is no chance of having your reservation cancelled at the last minute by the county.

 Perfect Kauai Vacation on the Beach, October 8, 2009

We had one of the best vacations this past Sept,2009, in a perfect setting on Poipu Beach in Kauai. We rented a ocean view home that was everthing we could ask for. All you had to do was open a drawer and you had it. We had all the kitchen spices, towels,soaps, shampoos, hair dryer, beach chairs, masks/snorkles,boogie boards etc,etc. My family including our 22 month old grand daughter was in love with this home. She had her own high chair, a security gate and the freedom to safely run about the house. Thank you for providing us with a "5" star family vacation. Diane DeNisi & family, Irvine, Ca

We had a fabulous Vacation in Kauai staying at this house. It was everything that it was advertised to be. The house itself is beautiful and clean. We enjoyed sitting on the Lanai and watching the ocean. The house is equipped with everything you need: coolers, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc. Would definitely stay there again if possible.

We all enjoyed our stay. The house is perfect for all our needs. Clean and very conviently located. Rooms are big enough and able to accomodate all of us. Children have room to roam and play around the house and we all love good ventilation and excellent view from the lanai. Thank you so much for the good accomodation. We had a perfect vacation !

We arrived to find the comfortable home lit up and welcoming. All of the amenities were provided for, and nothing was left out. A large plus was the abundance of beach toys and chairs for daily use. The house was spacious and clean, and we enjoyed the downstairs "apartment" as a retreat from the rest of the home. We have visited Kauai in the past, and would highly recommend this property for a large group or family looking for a great place to spread out and enjoy Poipu Beach. This is an excellent location, an easy walk to the beach, and to the Koloa Heritage trail. Be sure to explore the are to the east on foot, as there are hidden treasures to be found. Mahalo.
