The August thru October offshore fishing action includes:
Red Fish, Spanish and King Mackerel, Permit, Shark (Hammerhead, Lemon, Blacktip, Nurse, Reef), Mangrove Snapper, Dolphin, Gag and Red Grouper are further out (25-50 miles).

Winter months - enjoy the best Tarpon Fishing off Boca Grande, just 25 minutes away. Year round host to numerous tournaments, check the online Port Charlotte Sun Herald fishing section for dates and details.

You will find 28 local marinas, 13 boat ramps some with recreational areas offering kayak or canoe rentals, picnic and playgrounds. There are 16 fishing piers for the non-boaters and plenty of charter boats to get you to your destination.

Charlotte Harbor Center spans 840 acres porviding nature trails, picnic areas, a game preserve offering fishing, hunting, frogging and camping. Eco Tours has swamp buggy trips thru old Florida. There are 6 environmental parks for the nature lovers and a kayak adventure tour on the Blue Way Trail. There are 15 public beaches located along the 12.5 miles of the Gulf Coast. One is less than 10 minutes from this home.

Centrally located you have quick access to shopping, restaurants, Fisherman's Village for night life (Punta Gorda's just a shout away) and there are always plenty of weekend events and festivals year round. Disney is just 2.5 hours north. Take your motorcycle on a tour and drop by Gatorz which is just around the corner and a popular hangout for all the yuppie bikers.
