Home needs lots of updates to compete with others
August 9, 2014
I really hate to have to leave a bad to mediocre review but feel we need to say what we think so others can beware. We spent 3 months of 2014 at this house. Appliances have not been updated for years (perhaps not a big thing if you are there short period of time, but for 3 months, it is), no garbage disposal, bathrooms very old-fashioned, with cruddy old shower doors, etc. - none of the nice tile you find in most of the homes being rented. Worst part is not one pc of comfortable furniture in place. 2 bedrooms have what I believe are only full sz beds and all beds very uncomfortable, with mattresses & springs feeling like just a thin pc. of cloth stretched over a wood frame - pokes right into you any way you lie down. Living room has 2 vinyl couches that you slide right off of, due to no differentiation between the back & the seat cushions (cheaply made). Pool nice but decking coming up and ants getting up through those cracks and into house. Owners corrected some things but refused to have pest people back to take care of ants, etc. The property mgr did correct outdoor lights falling off house, etc., but refused to continue to fix things, saying owners come in July & fix things, which obviously did us no good in Jan-April. Other houses we have rented for similar rental fees, were in much better shape & had updated kitchens & baths. We were disappointed that we spent so much money on 3 months in a place that was so uncomfortable and lacked many amenities. To me, from years of dealings in Florida where it is semi-tropical to tropical, having a disposal is a basic that I could not believe they did not have. Having to tie up garbage after each meal & take it out to the garbage can where it will smell for a week in the heat is unacceptable. I was told this house was the owners' parents dream house 25 yrs or so ago. Maybe it was considered a dream house then - but it needs serious updating now, particularly if you want to rent it to seasonal vacationers & charge seasonal prices.

Enjoyable, spacious, beautiful area

We lucked out on this home. It was extremely clean, spacious and complete with all the amenities. The owners were friendly and very helpful. The area is beautiful and it was so nice to look out at the canal every morning sipping tea. We highly recommend this home.

I tried a few times to inquire about this home but did not get a response so did not stay there.

Port Charlotte visit

Very nice house. We loved the way it was arranged, opening the sliding doors added a lot of room. Of course the warm weather helped, we never turned the heat on. We enjoyed Port Charlotte as it is centrally located to all the places we were interested in. Would have liked to met the neighbors but they seemed to be loners. Wished I had more time there as there were several places and things we did not have time and I had to come back to the cold and cruel world.

We stayed in this house for a month but if we could have gotten our money back we would not have stayed 5 minutes! It was filthy and we had to clean the kitchen floor before we could even unload our things. The furniture was so bad that we went to goodwill and bought 2 chairs to sit in. No Internet service and the pool was so bad we were afraid to use it. We would never ever rent from Fenworth rentals again! They were not at all concerned because they had their money and was not going to be bothered by our needs!

We stayed at a similar villa in Port Charlotte. The stay was wonderful. We had excellent weather for biking, golfing and swimming in the pool. My husband and I definitely would recommend vacation home rentals to our friends and family. We would like to be on a canal or beach next year. Thank-you Marcia.
