Area Description

Only an hour to the north of Salvador, in Bahia/Brazil, Praia do Forteis located in an environmental protection area with a 12-kilometer nearly deserted beach, surrounded by a lush coconut palm plantation, and with a pleasant tropical climate. Average annual temperature is 28° C.
It enjoys a privileged location. Close to ecological reserves of Atlantic Rain Forest, lagoons, beaches where sea turtles lay their eggs, and areas for the observation of humpback whales and coral reefs. There is also a charming Fishermen's Village and ruins of the only medieval-style construction of the country, the Garcia D'Ávila Castle.
Praia do Forte is one of those small niches of Brazil, where local people still put their chairs on the sidewalk to chat under the moonlight. There, you can experience a little bit of the lives of the fishermen, artisans, and local inhabitants, who hold tight to their traditions.

Among the many entertainment options that you will find at Praia do Forte, the beaches, with their warm water and exuberant landscapes are certainly among the best. In front of the House, you'll find Tatuapara Bay, a perfect option for those who seek calm waters. Excellent for swimming, both for adults and children, the bay is also very good for water sports such as windsurfing.
However, there are other beach options, such as Papa Gente, which is located 1.5 km from the house and features natural pools more than 6 meters deep � perfect for diving. 2.5 kilometers from the hotel, waters are rougher, and waves make this place perfect for surfing.

Turtles also prefer Praia do Forte. According to studies carried out by Tamar Project/Ibama, these creatures, which were almost extinct from the Brazilian coast and the planet, come to the area to lay their eggs, in a higher concentration than anywhere else in the world. This distinction was responsible for the choice of Praia do Forte as the site of the Headquarters of the National Center for the Conservation and Handling of Sea Turtles, a.k.a. Tamar Project.
