Description of the Praiano vacation villa rental

The Villa, a cottage, was the dependance of a big estate and was used by its current owners, an interior dsigner and an artist, as their studio. The house, the terraces and the gardens are situated on a separated plot with private entrance. The approximately 100 sqm cottage provides room for 4 guests and has been built pratically around the old olive trees on three garden levels completely integrated in the surrounding nature.
Approximately 20 private steps down from the street you will reach the first garden level with roofterrace with full sun until 2.30 pm and then half shadow.
Further 8 steps down you get to the living area with a spacious living room, a balcony which gives you the impression to look from a railing on to the deep blue sea, a small bathroom and a nice small well equipped kitchen just to make light summer meals.
On the same level you will find a stone terrace with a shaded open air dining room and a little blue veranda.
Down a few more old stone steps you reach the lowest garden terrace with one bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a bathroom and a second bedroom with two twin beds and shower and a small breakfast kitchen.

The living area and the upper terrace have an enchanting view of the open sea. The 600sqm of garden overlooking the blue sea create an almost subtropical impression with the sunlight filtering through the silvery leaves of the old olive trees in the vibrating hot and humid summer air.


The "Villa La Barchetta" is located in Praiano at the marvelous Costiera Amalfitana, named "divine" because it is one of the most beautiful coast of the world, declared world cultural heritage by UNESCO, protected from the building boom by its very strict regulations.

Praiano is one of the few villages which kept its charm as fishing village and at the same time has some exclusivity because of its closeness to Positano and the artists who always preferred to live here.

The area is surrounded by famous places such as, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, Sorrento, Capri, Paestum, Pompei and Harcolaneum.

Very close to the house you find the bus stop and a private taxi service. Three minute walk from the Villa there is also a very good, family owned trattoria-ristorante "Open Gate".

The near beach (shingle and rocks), La Praia, is only a ten to fifteen minutes walk. It is equipped with deck chairs and umbrellas to rent. There are also a number of little restaurants.

In the village (ten to fifteen minutes walk from the Cottage) you will find all the necessary stores and some very nice restaurants.

A list of restaurants is provided in the cottage; possibility for site seeing to important archeological sites, e.g. Pompei, Hercolaneum and Paestum; several hiking tours in the close vicinity e.g. "The Path of Gods"; boat trips from Amalfi or Positano to Capri, Ischia, Nerano or Naples; cultural events such as concerts in Ravello, painting exhibits in Praiano and Positano etc.

• Deposits: A refoundable security deposit of Euro 300 will be collected by the key holder at the arrival and returned less any breakage fees. Phone units (local calls only) will be calculated when you leave and deducted from the security deposit.
   
• Other Fees: Final cleaning : Euro 100 has to be paid to the key holder at the arrival. Available upon request: parking Euro15/day; maid Euro 10/hour.

One of the most beautiful places on earth w/ one of the best hostesses on earth! We LOVED the house, as charming and magical as we expected, GREAT location, very comfortable, extremely clean and affordable. The biggest treat, though, was the time we had the privilege to spend with Contessa Marion, the owner. We will be back!!!! Valentina, Marcella, Maura and Daniel from Los Angeles, California.
