Description of the Rainbow Bay vacation home rental
This charming, comfortable 1,800 square foot vacation home is privately situated among tropical gardens with mature palm trees on a bluff with marvelous sunrise views over the ocean on one side and sunset views over the sea on the other!

You will find dozens of beaches of every description and most of them utterly empty of people. Several are just a pleasant walk on quiet little lanes from the villa. There are peaceful little villages with some great casual restaurants short drives from the house. Activities include swimming, snorkeling, cliff jumping, eco-exploring, tennis, surfing, fishing, and long dreamy walks on endless beaches searching for that perfect shell.

If you are seeking casinos, huge hotels, bustling seaports and lots of shopping you will be disappointed. If you prefer peace and quiet for an idyllic family vacation - or perhaps the honeymoon of your dreams - you have found it!

Area Info
The villa is located in the Rainbow Bay region of Eleuthera, one of the most scenic parts of this sparsely developed rural island in the Bahamas, a world away from congested cruise ship destinations like Nassau and Freeport. The island is very narrow here, less than a half mile from the deep blue Atlantic Ocean on one side, and the turquoise, placid Caribbean on the other. You are high on a hill overlooking both sides so you can gaze at the sun rising out of the ocean and setting into the sea right from the house! There are several beaches within walking distance of the house, and dozens more short drives away. The Bahamian villages of Hatchet Bay and James Cistern are about 4 miles away to the north and south. The closest restaurant is about a mile and the nearest food store about 2 miles. Our caretaker will meet you at your flight upon arrival and bring you to the house. You can stop at a food store en route so you can enjoy a sojourn in solitude with no need to drive. Having a rental car, however, makes it easy to go to more remote beaches, shops, restaurants and other scenic areas so we recommend having one, which we are happy to arrange for our guests.

Great Caribbean Hideout

February 11, 2009

We just returned from six weeks at the Hideout in Rainbow Bay, Eleuthera, Bahamas. This is a great house for friends and/or family. It is within walking distance of three beaches and has long, beautiful views of two seas. There is a huge yard for games as well as many movies and books. This is a lovely family home in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Eleuthera does not have a lot of nightlife and "tourist action", but it has beautiful, uncrowded beaches and wonderful locals that you would expect (and often not find) on a Caribbean island. Thank you, thank you, for sharing your home and island with us! Kelli and family

This place was GREAT!!!! What a wonderful vacation. it is so quite here, It is a head-turning big deal when a car go by. The house and surrounding grounds were stunningly gorgious, and well kept. Banana, mango, lime, and coconut in the front yard. Every day we went to a different beach and each was better then the last. Most of the time, we were the only ones there!!. Great places to go snorkeling or shelling. took a day trip to harbour island to see how the other half live and had some great food. The people on this island are honestly happy to see you. We can't wait to go back.

just a quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay in your lovely home. Although the weather did not cooperate, we still had a wonderful time. We especially loved your caretakers Billy & Brenda Stubbs, as well as Freddie Ferguson and Israel Johnson and their families. I do not think I have ever met so many nice and helpful people, it really made our trip very special. When time allows us to make a return trip, we hope your place will still be available.
Thank you again and I hope you have a happy and healthy new year,
