It was a very nice place. But to close to main road. Didn't feel like we were on vacation. And no trees around cabin. One of the roll out beds was broke. And no gas in the gas grill.

My wife and I just spent our honeymoon at this log cabin, and it was perfect! We both love the mountains, so were able to enjoy the scenery and "small-town" feel, but also return home to air conditioning, satellite TV, two full bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a kitchen with everything needed for a great stay. And, as a log cabin, the smell of the wood just added to the whole experience! The owner, Patrice, even gave us a wedding card! My wife and I can't recommend this place enough!

The cabin was great! It was absolutely beautiful, and even the littlest amenity was taken care of. It was just like home away from home; it was so comfortable that we hated to leave. We could live there!

The lodge is spacious, comfortable, and has many comforts of home with a cozy, country feel. Within a stone's throw was Raystown Lake, a large shopping center, a small market with an ice cream shoppe, and a large grocery store. The swings on the pavilion were so relaxing you could envision yourself sleeping there by the fire pit. The owners are extremely nice, and even though there is a nominal deposit, a person would have to do something ridiculous like breaking the couch or making a bonfire that would bring the fire department and melt the fire pit! Needless to say, this was an extremely pleasurable experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle.

The cabin is gorgeous, well placed, and has everything you might need for a stay. We had 4 adults, 3 children, and a baby and not one of them was uncomfortable in any way. The cabin is warm and inviting and the pavilion for cooking and relaxing by the fire is second to none. Do not hesitate to stay here- it's a stones throw away from Raystown lake and easily accesible. You'll love it and won't want to go home. Thanks so much, Patrice, for opening your home to us!

We had a great time staying at the lodge, we didn't want to leave. Raystown lake is so close it only took 5 min to get to. Someday we hope to have a place just like that, that we can call home!!

The cabin was so beautiful, clean, spacious and very nicely designed. I felt right at home the minute we pulled up to the cabin! We really enjoyed our stay there! I will definitely stay there again and will recommend this lodge to anyone who will be staying in the area. The owner is very friendly and very easy to work with. Always prompt in answering my questions and overall a very nice person! Stay there!! You will not be sorry!!!!!

My wife & I were celebrating our 1st anniversary together & wanted to to go someplace that we could also take our dog. It had been a few years since we had visited the Lake, so we were excited when we found a cabin that allowed a small pet to stay. Bittersweet Lodge was the perfect place for us to stay. Everything about the cabin was a perfect fit for all of our needs. We had the best, most relaxing anniversary stay at Bittersweet Lodge.

We loved Bittersweet Lodge. The log construction is wonderful and the furnishings lovely and comfortable. Patrice added a lot of nice touches, like hand soap in the bathrooms and bottled water in the frig. The location is perfect for riding the Allegrippis Trails, but is equally great for the marina on 7 Points Road. And it is only a short drive into Huntingdon for dining. But the gas grill is so convenient that we bought groceries and cooked dinner instead! And the flat screen TV was perfect for watching DVDs at night, after a relaxing swing on the porch swing. The only thing bitter about this place is having to leave.

My aunt & uncle are the owners of this beautiful lodge. Once we knew they were building it we knew we definitely wanted to make a visit with our friends & family. As the year went by our calenders filled up, but fortunately were able to set up a trip with about 3 weeks notice for this past weekend. We knew based on their work it would be nice, but everyone was blown away how nice the cabin, all the amentities, & the whole area was. Everyones reaction was the pictures do not do it justice. It was also nice to be so close to the store if you needed anything. The short distance & easy drive to the lake was also a big bonus. Everyone was sad to leave but mentioned about definitely putting it on our calender to visit the lodge again.

The owners of this cabin WILL stalk you while you are staying there. The owner knew everything that we did, down to our kids washing their feet off with the hose after walking in the stream. The furniture in the cabin was ultra cheap, I am a big girl and apon sitting on the couch a leg broke. The owner contacted me after we were home speculating that the kids broke it rough housing on it. We built a fire in the "fire pit" that was made out of retaining block, which is not fire rated. It cracked, according to the owner because we were building bon fires. We had to take an air mattress with us, due to my dad needing his own bed due to a broken hip, she questioned us on why, because she found the box in the trash, CREEPY!!!! The owner also complained that we used the kitchen, why would I rent a cabin with a kitchen, if I did not intend to use it? The owner also knew everytime we came and left from the home I found this out due to a conversation with her...WEB Cams????? DO NOT GO!

I ran out of room on my previous review, and I wanted to add a couple things. First, this site did not allow me to post my e-mail address, so if you would like to contact me about my stay, I have given Patrice permission to give out my e-mail address to those who would like a reference. Second, I just want to also compliment Patrice's husband and two sons who constructed the beautiful lodge. Their craftsmanship is second to none. If I ever have the money to build a custom log home, they will be the first people I contact.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Bittersweet Lodge. It is a real log home, and it is absolutely beautiful inside, but I was most impressed with the owner Patrice. She went to great lengths to make sure our stay was a wonderful experience. The home has all of the comforts of your own home, and everything inside and out was top notch. You can tell that they spared no expense to make sure everyone that stays here will have a great time. They even provided firewood for their guest to build fires in the fire pit. I can promise you that you will not be disappointed. I just can't say enough about our time there and the quality service that Patrice provided. I have already recommended Bittersweet to everyone I know! Thanks again Patrice for all that you did for us, and we can't wait to see you again next year! I am displaying my e-mail address for anyone that might have any questions about my stay, so feel free to contact me if you would like a first hand testimonial.

Very nice place. However there is no pots for cooking a full meal. Plastic plates that can not be used in the Microwave. Hot water for 1 person to shower about 15-20 min apart. Neighbor's spy's on you like a hawk and tell everything you do. Don't use the fire pit beacuse she used landscaping blocks not heat resistant blocks their for they will cack and you will not get you deposit back. No power in the pavilion. Not allowed to drive on the grass so it will be hard for you to turn a boat or camper around. Spyed upon gotta be the worst. I have never stayed in a place where you walk outside and you are stared down. This has got to be the worst place I have ever stayed in. It's like your paying for your own Jail..
This cabin is beautiful. Nice and cozy and peaceful. Nice place to come and relax and enjoy. I was so glad my husband brought us here to celebrate my 60th birthday. Our friends from Maryland came up and we enjoyed and they enjoyed staying here. We will be back. Loved it!!! 1/9/10. Judy & Terry Cummnins with Guy & Nancy Lombardi
Thanks so much, we just "LOVE" your place. This cabin is our dream house (We would have loved to see it being built). The logs are massive, it's just wonderful! Enjoyed our stay, despite the rain. Great location, close to the Lake. We'll be back! Chuck & Rose Hein, Bechtelsville, PA, Oct. 16-19, 2009
Very breath taking; this was like a long time dream come true for us: "A LOG CABIN CHRISTMAS" and it was awesome. Your home made a lot of it feel like that. Being from the area, we already know the surroundings of the countryside, you brought it inside. The set up and layout is great. We will definitely do this again. Thanks for all your hospitality and what a great time we all had; very satisfied. 12/26/09. Jeff Harker & Sherry Henry, Huntingdon Area.
This past week has been extremely enjoyable. First, thank you for all your time and help. Your hospitality is very apparent, by making Bittersweet Lodge feel like a home away from home. We have spent many hours this week sitting on the front porch talking and relaxing. We will be back to enjoy your home again. Staying here has made us realize how much we would like to live in a log home. Mark & Pat Pinder, Phoenixville, PA, 8/16/09
WOW!! Your lodge is wonderful!! We are so blessed to have found it and have been able to stay in it. You have built an amazing place and these memories will stay with us a lifetime. Thank you for having us. Ben Harris, Akron, OH and Lisa Hager, Philadelphia, PA
We cannot thank you enough for making our Wedding Day and night so perfect. The Lodge is beautiful!! It was such a relaxing place for me as the bride to get ready fo my wedding...I wrote the vows here. We have a 3 year old little girl and she kept calling the Lodge "Snow Whites Cabin". I truly felt like a princess and so did our little girl. All the special touches you did to make our wedding romantic and special were greatly appreciated. We are already making plans to come back. Stacy & Aaron, Our Wedding Day, 9/6/09.
Thank you so much for letting my friends and I stay at your wonderful lodge. The memories we had here will be in our hearts forever. We woud love to visit again. We all realize where the "Bittersweet" comes from as we were all hoping the week would never end. Christine, Jeff, Peter, Dave, Liz, Scott & Steve - from the Philadelphia area, 8/09. Note that this was a group of friends getting together before heading off to college in different directions.
Your cabin is absolutely beautiful. We had a great weekend. The weather was perfect, the area was so quiet and then the cabin added to our comfort. I can't wait to come back. You were most helpful in making our stay easy and comfortable and we thank you. Shantae, Daniel & Baby Savannah, NJ, June 2009 PS - thanks for lending us your playpen for Savannah!
I can't thank you enough for your wonderful assistance and hospitality. Staying in your home was a true pleasure as our every need and comfort was met beyond expectation. I can't wait until next year's Creation event and to stay in your home again. Please book us for the Creation dates next year. Thank you again. You must be a wonderful person and I hope to meet you in person next time. Randy L., North Greece, NY, June 2009
May 10,2009. Thank you so much for opening your lovely home early to us. Between the new trails (at Raystown Lake for biking, hiking and cross country skiing), and the new home, this has been a weekend to remember. Frank & Elizabeth, International Mountain Bicycling Asociation.
What a wonderful place to relax between laps of the Allegrippis Trail network. The rustic feel with all the modern conveniences you want, made this cabin perfect after a long day in the saddle. I'm not sure where the "Bitter" is; this is all "Sweet"! Thanks for a wonderful couple of days. Mike Kuhn, Mountain Bike Team, Pennsylvania.
