Description of the Raystown Lake vacation cabin rental
Step back in time, and enjoy the coziness that a log cabin offers.
Enjoy and relax on our front covered porch while enjoying the birds, deer and other wildlife pass through the woods surrounding the cabin.
At Night, relax in the cabin's Gorgeous finished basement - Authentic Barn Wood as a feature wall. Surround Sound in Wall Speaker System with 50' Plasma HD 3D TV & Blu Ray 3D DVD.
The cabin is located within 5 minutes of both Raystown Lake and the Juniata River.
The cabin is located at the Northern End of Raystown Lake, near the Dam.
The cabin sleeps up to 9 people comfortably in its three bedrooms and loft. A fully equipped kitchen makes family meals a breeze. Spices and bottled water are provided. We offer an outdoor grill and filled propane, as well as an outdoor fire pit with seating.
If you enjoy an active lifestyle, there are many activities to do within close proximity of the cabin during each season: Biking, hiking and walking trails, sightseeing within 2 miles at the Overlook where you could take in the breathtaking views of the Dam, lake and mountain range. You may even see a Bald Eagle at the Overlook! Fish, swim, boat or jet ski at Raystown Lake. You can rent a boat or jet skiis at the marina. The swimming cove is located 2 1/2 miles from the cabin, bring your rafts along and float and enjoy the scenery.
In the winter months enjoy cross country skiing and snow mobile on many of the scenic trails.
Canoe or fish in the Juniata River which is within 5 minutes of the cabin.
The Master bedroom boasts a King Size Log Bed hand made by Amish in Lancaster County. The mattress is extremely comfortable, and helps make for a great night's rest.
We are located within 10 minutes of Juniata College and only 31 miles of Penn State University.
Must have a 4 Wheel Drive Vehicle in Winter Months.

Graduation Weekend

We had a great stay at this cabin... we had a long weekend to relax and host family and friends during our weekend to celebrate our son's graduation from Juniata College... This cabin has everything you need... will stay again.

Perfect Retreat for a Week!
October 29, 2012
Our goal was to relax and fish at Raystown Lake -- this was perfect. The setting in the woods is fabulously QUIET. Located minutes from the boat launch, and just as convenient to Route 22 (Huntingdon). CLEAN!!! Everything we needed to feel right at home and close to Walmart if we forgot something. The owners were easy to work with and responded quickly to any questions. I would definitely revisit this cabin.

Great Cabin, Fantastic Time

The cabin is gorgeous and in a secluded, pretty location (the road to it is a bit steep but worth it)! The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the house was decorated very nicely. The cabin was close to everything we wanted to do (the longest drive was about 35 mins). The kids had fun riding their bikes and we loved the fire pit. The owners were very helpful and answered all my questions quickly. The information they had in the cabin of things to do in the area helped us plan our time. I would definitely return to this cabin if we go back to the area. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable time.

The Cook's country Cabin was beautiful, clean, and extremely comfortable. We will definitely return next year. Our only regret is that we didn't stay long enough!!There is so much to do in the area we couldn't do it all in our short stay. This was the perfect get away for our family. The Cook's were very easy to work with. The Communication was excellent. Noone would go wrong with renting this cabin.

This cabin is incredible, includes everything you could ever need. Very secluded and also 5 minutes from the local stores. Awesome vacation spot and we plan on returning in the future!

Hard to believe, but better than expected. Cabin was perfectly situated in the peace and quiet yet just close enough to civilization for any need you may have. Beautifully decorated and furnished with anything you might need(pots, pans, dishes, etc..). It was a very warm and inviting home that made all of us jealous of the ownwers. Patricia was an excellent hostess. She was extremely nice to deal with on the phone and via email. They provided a small welcome package and a scrapbook filled with local information and personal suggestions. We arrived a little early and even the cleaning lady was extremely pleasant and helpful. She also gave us some local info. We came with some friends and their kids and had a wonderful time. As suggested by the Cook's, we took them to the cove to fish and all the kids caught 4-5 huge(just kidding, actually tiny, but 3 year olds think they are huge) fish. The water park is only 20-30 min away and the kids loved it. Ok, the grown-ups did too. It had been years since we were at that water park. We also went to Trough Creek State Park and hiked the trail with the swinging bridge. The kids thought that was cool and all the parents were yelling "Dr. Jones, Dr. Jones" like Indiana Jones. We also did a campfire one night and roasted marshmellos at the fire pit. This would also be a wonderful weekend get-away for just the grown-ups. It is quiet, warm, and secluded. To say the least, this was a wonderful two-night trip for our families and much of the enjoyment came from the cabin. Thank you Cooks for amazing accomidations, your helpfulness, pleasantness, and effort you put into your cabin. It has certainly paid off. I only hope this review does it justice. We would definitely love to return someday and have saved all of the information for later use. To anyone reading this review, do not hesitate to book this rental, trust me. Just make sure to leave a week or two each year open for us to return!!!

Great, relaxing vacation cabin

Look no further, this was a great vacation spot. We had a awesome time there. It is isolated enough, but still close enough to stores if you run out. We had 8-9 people and it was not cramped at all. Sitting by the campfire, on the huge deck, or down at the lake, it was a blast. owners were very friendly as well. have fun!
