Description of the Readfield vacation cottage rental

Lake front ranch style cathedral ceiling cottage with two bedrooms,one with a queen bed and one with twin beds sleep 4.There is also a full pullout couch in the great room. Large great room with a propane stove with viewable flames, enclosed porch with jalousy windows,a bath with shower stall and a kitchen with everything you need. An outdoor deck, sundeck and private dock with 14 foot boat tied at the dock which will accept up to a 10 hp outboard if you wish to bring or rent one locally. Enjoy fishing and swimming in crystal clear spring fed three mile long Echo Lake, which is well stocked with perch ,salmon and other tasty fish that you can cook up for dinner. The lake also has a public boat launch ramp if you wish to bring your own boat. After watching the spectacular sunset over the water, you will fall asleep to the lonely calls of the loons. You will leave here totally relaxed and refreshed. Many of our campers have been coming back year after year.

Area Information

A special place which gives new meaning to the term "peace and quiet". for the ocean and lobster lovers, quaint Boothbay Harbor is an hours drive from the cottage. You will find many gift, souvenier and clothing shops in the area,including the L.L.Bean headquarters where it all began in Freeport.For the hikers and mountain lovers Mt. Blues hiking trails and also the famous Sugarloaf Ski Area in Kingfield are about an hour drive.Augusta, the states capital city, is a 20 minute drive and offers shopping , movie theaters ,museums and there is some fine antique shopping nearby. Spectacular Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor where the mountains meet the ocean is approx a two hour ride from the cottage. In the fall the camp becomes a leaf peepers paradise with dazzling color outside your door.

Maine cottage at its best

This is a very serene and quiet location. The cabin is very clean and spacious. The sunsets over the lake were as beautiful as can be imagined. I am planning to return again this summer.

Loved our week at the lake. My 15 yr old grandson was in the water most of the time. Comfy camp with full kitchen, bath w/shower and full size washer/dryer. Good to do a load before getting home! The loons reminded me how much I love a Maine lake in summer. Side trip to Augusta on a rainy day was only a 20 min drive from camp. Private setting, could hear neighbors but did not see them except in the water. The boat was out of water so we did not know we could still use it; next time. There is only a charcoal grill so I brought my Weber Q portable grill so we were fine. Great deal for a Maine camp. Enjoy your stay. Former Mainer

A Lovely Visit

The cabin was clean and well maintained and had enough space for our family of 6. You will definitely experience a sense of peace and tranquility at this camp. Lovely loon calls in the evening and morning from beautiful Echo Lake. Do be sure to bring some bug spray as there were some biting flies around. Other than that, there were really no negatives about the camp... we would have loved to stay another week!!
