Description of the Readfield vacation cottage rental

Planning a peaceful vacation in Maine? Looking to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage or abundant fishing that our lake has to offer? Stay at our cozy, lake front, three bedroom camp. It has one large bedroom with full-sized bed, closet, and dressers, and two small bedrooms with twin beds and night stands. There is also a full-sized, pullout couch and an extra cot. There is a fully equipped, eat-in kitchen, a living room with cable tv,VCR, and DVD player, local telephone service, and a monitor heater, and a bathroom with a standing shower. Relax and enjoy the view of the lake from the spacious, screened-in porch, which is furnished with a table, chairs, rocking chairs, and a porch swing.

Outside, there is a dock, picnic table, glider swing, propane grill, paddle boat and lifejackets, horseshoe pits, and fire pit. If you have a boat, you are welcomed to bring it. There is a public boat ramp close by.

Torsey Shores is a quiet lake, great for canoeing, kayaking, and enjoying the fall foliage. Fish for bass, white & yellow perch, and pickerel. See ospreys, ducks, heron, otters, and hear the calls of loons in the evening. You will not be disappointed!

Area Information

We are 15 minutes west of Augusta, where there is plenty of shopping , restaurants, and rainy day entertainment such as bowling, movies, museums, etc. We are 40 minutes from L.L. Bean and 1 hour from Portland and various beaches.

If there is less than 30 days prior to your arrival date, payment in full is expected. A signed rental agreement is required as well as a $150.00 security deposit,which is refundable if the camp is left clean and in good condition.

Great value

June 10, 2013

We stayed on the lake but fished all other lakes in the area. This is a basic cottage with all the needs you could want for a peaceful week. The cottage itself is in a quiet spot on this very quiet pond . We caught over 100 bass on the lake mostly fishing a few hours a day at sunset . All of the Belgrade lakes are full of fish and this cottage is right in the middle. The owners were easily accessible and we had no issues ! I was there just to fish with my brother but am coming back in July with my kids!

We enjoyed our week long stay at this cute cottage and would certainly recommend it to others. The owners were friendly and helpful, and the cabin, although simple, was clean and stocked with everything we needed. It was also much more spacious than we expected, which was nice. The lake was beautiful and just a few feet from the cabin, and we had access to the dock and boats. The best part was how close we were to Winthrop (5 min to heart of town), Hallowell (15 min) and Augusta (10 min). For the price, you can't beat this cottage!

Our stay at the St. Hillaire camp was wonderful. The camp was perfect for our 3 kids. We enjoyed reading on the screened in porch, loved the privacy of 3 bedrooms and played out in the water and on the docks all day long. In the evening we built fires every night in the fire pit and were pleasantly surprised that there were NO mosquitos! The lake was so quiet, all we could hear were the loons. I highly recommend this camp to any family!

The owner, Michelle Ballard, was great -- very helpful. I found the value to be good and the cost reasonable. We really enjoyed the lake, the front porch and the canoe. Although the cabin was an older property, we liked having three rooms with doors for privacy. We were very comfortable there and had a great experience.
