Description of the Reggio Emilia vacation b&b rental

THE B&B
Just over the Tuscan border (30 min) and a short drive to the major cities of Parma, Modena, Bologna, Pisa, Lucca, Verona, Viviana 's B&B puts you in the heart of the Italian Apennines.
It is ideal for those who want a real taste of Italian culture in a beautiful unspoiled setting, one of the best kept secret in Italy.

Viviana 's B&B is a delightful 2 storey cottage, ideal for couples, families or a group of friends, and offers a family atmosphere with Italian hospitality.
The rooms are bright, comfortable and quiet with high quality beds.

Area Description

Viviana 's B&B is in the quiet hamlet of Monteduro 5 min drive from Castelnovo ne' Monti and near to the State Road SS63 that joins the Po Valley to Tuscany. Coming from Milan, Verona or Venice (however from the North), this is the fastest panoramic route to reach Cinque Terre, Lucca, Pisa and Florence (without taking the motorway) crossing a territory with enchanting, natural landscapes.

This is genuine unspoiled Italy and can be likened to Tuscany, as it was 30 years ago “ without the tourists. Due to its central location, the major cities and lakes in Northern Italy can be visited as day trips with one-two hour drive, thus avoiding expensive hotel stops overnight. Use our house as a base, 40 minutes drive from major railway station and the A1 motorway.

Castelnovo ne' Monti is the main hub and virtual nerve centre in the entire Apennine Mountains of Reggio Emilia, you will find several supermarkets including big fashionable shops, banks, a post office, an hospital, a theatre which also provides a first class cinema, ice cream shops, but above all a great feeling of hospitality and a true zest for life. Whilst providing all the amenities you will need Castelnovo ne ' Monti has managed to remain a truly Italian town in one of the most stunning parts of the country.
The jewel in its crown is the magnificent Bismantova plateau which really captures the tranquil beauty of the Apennine Mountains.
Here, history is inexorably linked with the name of Countess Matilda of Canossa. Castles and parish churches are the sign of this history which can also still be witnessed in the local customs and events of the area.

Emilia Romagna is without doubt the region where Italy 's best food is produced.
The local specialities, famous throughout the world, include Parmesan Cheese (take a visit to the local diary 3 min walk from the B&B where Parmesan is made), Parma ham, lasagne, balsamic vinegar and tortelli staffed with meat, vegetables and herbs. Lambrusco is the most renowned wine produced from the local vineyards.
Eating in a good and healthy way in Reggio 's Apennine is surely easy! Moreover, for the culinary expert mushrooms can be picked up in the surrounding woodlands.

For the motorbike and car enthusiasts we are a short drive to Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati museum.

LOCAL SPORTING AND RECREATIVE ACTIVITIES :
The salubrious air and the mild climate, resulting from a position sheltered from the wind, make this land ideal for 'green , 'healthy and 'sport holidays. So it is perfect for walkers (there are many marked panoramic paths of different difficulty level), mountain-bikers, riders, climbers (Pietra di Bismantova with its sheer rock faces provide one of north Italy 's most important training ground for free-climbing).
- Castelnovo ne' Monti (4 km): centre of athletics, tennis, basket, volleyball courts, football pitch, bowls area, swimming pool, lakes for fishing, cinema/theatre, halls for dance, pubs;
- Cervarezza Terme (5 km): Spas, open-air-swimming pool, mini-golf, nature paths, orienteering courses, adventure park, disco-pub;
- Ventasso Laghi (15 km): horse-riding
- Cerreto Laghi (25 km): ice-skating ring
- Castellarano and S.Bartolomeo (near Reggio Emilia): Golf grounds - 18 holes
