DAWN OF TOURISM

Vista do sol de pondo no horizonte, a partir da praia, produzindo um degradê de cores do laranja ao azul no céu de Armação dos Búzios, no fim da tarde

In the years 1940/1950, when the city was limited to a small fishing village, began to be appreciated by representatives of Rio and São Paulo elites, who first houses appear. These visitors received in their homes illustrious friends, including politicians and artists, many of them foreigners. With this, the fame of the city was growing among upper class people from different countries.

The town really started to develop as a tourist from Argentine invasion of the city in the late 1970s. Fleeing the economic crisis in their country, many Argentines arrived in Buzios with enough money, bought many properties and established homes and businesses. Even today, a significant fraction of trade and hospitality is held by Argentines.

Today, the population is mainly Brazilian during the low season, with approximately fifteen percent of foreigners.

BRIGITTE BARDOT

Estátua de Brigitte Bardot, de frente as flores, na cidade de Armação dos Búzios In 1964 the town received a famous movie actress: French Brigitte Bardot, who at the time was dating Bob Zaguri, a Moroccan living in Brazil. The two stayed in the house of the Russian André Mouriaev then representative of the United Nations in Rio de Janeiro. They came strolling and exploring the city and admire the beauties of Brazil more. At that moment, the world press has directed attention to the isolated fishing village, watching every step of the actress through an informant installed there. The impact was such that there are references to celebrity today anywhere in the city, the tourist and dissemination in local life.
