Reviews for this vacation home rental in Ripley, Maine

The Howard Family
Maine
Best Vacation Ever !
May 20, 2013
Our family had the pleasure of staying here during the last week of August 2012. We were hoping to get away and unplug with our kids. We got what we wanted and much more. The property is very beautiful, private, and quiet. The house was spotless and had everything we could possibly need. We did go on a few day trips, but the majority of our time was spent at the water, fishing, kayaking, swimming, etc. The owners are friendly and easy to communicate with. They called us when we arrived and at the end of our week, just to make sure everything was good. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away from it all. We left with amazing memories, and our kids often ask us when we are going back ! Thank you for sharing your beautiful spot with our family.

Very peaceful
August 17, 2012
We had a great time! The water was very warm, the kids loved the rope swing and the dock to jump off of. We all enjoyed using the paddle boats and kyacks. What we enjoyed most of all was just being together in a beautiful house on the lake. The only draw back was it got a little stuffy at night, but everything elese was wonderful. Would rent again!

Heaven on Earth
August 6, 2012
We arrived and entered the house.. and it was perfect! Comfortable layout.. and SUPER CLEAN! The true allure though is the outdoors! We swam, we kayaked, we sipped wine and read books, we snuggled with our son in the hammock and watched our dogs swim... late in the day or early evening we'd have a campfire and make smores. We all slept like a rock every night! . If you're looking for family time or couple time this is the place to be... It's like "Chicken Noodle Soup for the Soul".

Great Place to Relax
July 18, 2012
This home was beautiful and clean. The owners were great with communication and even called to welcome us. We were able go out in the kayaks, relax on the hammock and enjoy coffee on the deck overlooking the lake. It was 45 minutes to Bangor and less than 2 hours to Bar Harbor where we went on an incredible whale watch. The only thing I suggest is to check the weather forecast before you go...our first night was pretty hot! Wish we would have brought a window fan. The rest of the week we had perfect weather and with the windows open...it was perfect for sleeping!

Back to nature
July 8, 2012
We stayed Saturday to Saturday at WW&T house on the lake and it was way too short. We felt we could've stayed for the summer ! Fantastic setting, wonderful, comfortable house with everything you could need for your stay. If you ever wanted to venture from the property you'll find so many things to see and do, too many to list. We definitely would go back again and again. Its a great place to rent !

relaxing by the lake
July 2, 2012
This Ripley lakeside rental was a joy and a welcomed respite for our family vacation. The house was spotless and very comfortable, with a modern kitchen and beautiful views of the lake below from the living room. The grounds were wonderful, with plenty of space and seclusion. This house was near the end of a wooded road, and had a nice dock, hammock, kayaks, and paddle boat to enjoy the water. We had a nice bonfire every night in the large fire pit provided. The owners were a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to renting with them again!

Peace and Serenity
June 16, 2012
Just spent the last week at this Ripley rental...could not have been any better. The house is spotless, and has anything that you could need except your clothes! The owners are great, and strive to make your vacation stay fantastic. The house, the lake, the loons, the peace and quiet....all you could ask for! Also a good starting point for day trips to Moosehead Lake area, Bar Harbor, and up to Millinocket for Baxter state park. My family and I are currently traveling home from the house, and already can't wait to come back again next year. Maybe for two weeks instead of just one! Definitely will be back! We have been coming to Maine for over 20 years for vacation, and this trip definitely makes the list for one of our best visits yet! Tom, Sandy, and Olivia Smythe

Fabulous week away!
September 22, 2011
My family had a wonderful week away at the lovely house on Ripley Pond. We loaded up the car with my in-laws out visiting from Australia, my two boys (10 & 14), my husband & I, and our dog. We all had a wonderful time - relaxing, reading, walking, biking, kayaking, and so many other activities. We played horse-shoes and fished for hours! The pond is so peaceful, especially early in the morning and late at night - it was lovely to see and hear the loons! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for both excitement and relaxation!!

Ripley Pond Revisited
August 22, 2011
We made a return visit to Ripley Pond for two weeks (one week wasn't enough in 2009). The house served our puposes well -- just right size for our children and grandchildren to join us for the first week and as a base for exploration for the second. The location is convenient for exploring the Maine Highlands as well as coastal attractions, especially Acadia National Park. Kayaking around the pond is a delight (loons, water lilies, beautiful sunsets) as well as roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. The peace and quiet gave us an opportunity to read and remove ourselves from our work-a-day worlds (invaluable). For those who truly wish to "get away from it all," we highly recommend a week or two on Ripley Pond.

Wonderful vacation !
August 8, 2011
We truly enjoyed our week at your home, thank you! We had all the comforts of home while in the woods and on the lake. We also did a little fishing in lake Wassookeag, hiking in Greenville, took a drive to Birch Point Beach State park, had lunch in Camden and we also visited the Moosehead lake region. Such a great family vacation!

We just stayed at this beautiful home and trust us, we didnt want to leave! The pictures on this site do not do this location justice. It is everything the owners state and more. We loved the open floor plan and the setting. The pond is more like a small lake. We brought up kayaks and had a lovely time exploring/fishing (there are two on the property if you dont have one). Due to cooler weather and a bit of rain during the last two days we only swam one day. The dock/location are perfect. There was never a dull moment. If you are stuck inside, go for a run on the treadmill, watch some tv or play a game! We had a blast inside and out! We cant wait to go back! PS. The kitchen has everything you need. We made big dinners each night and never searched for a untensil or pan.

Maine mini vacation--2 couples
October 12, 2010
This rental house was just as described. It was very spacious, cozy and located in a quiet, secluded wooded area on a lovely lake setting. It was just perfect for 2 couples looking for accomodations while visting friends in Dexter (15 minutes away). The 2 full bathrooms (1 on main floor near master bdrm and 1 upstairs w/2 bdrms) were the draw for us as we wanted to have a private bathroom for each couple. It was cold so we did not swim or boat but having the option in warmer weather would be a plus. We definetely would rent this home again. The owner was very concerned that our needs were met and called us upon arrival and before departure which was much appreciated.

Maine Vacation

The house was just as promised. It was spotless and very spacious. The grounds were beautiful and the lake was absolutely gorgeous. It was great having the paddle boat. This is a perfect house for family vacations. Lots of room. The owners were great to work with and wanted to make sure that you had everything that you needed. It should be noted that the house does not have A/C. For the most part it is not needed with the beautiful weather but we had a very hot week and would have been nice to come home to a cool house. There are fans that were a great help. The house was so well equipped that all you needed to do is unpack and start having fun!!!

Exactly as pictured and then some. We felt like we were back in time, relaxing on sacred land. This is a exceptional home and place to gain peace of mind and listen to the loons and sounds of mother nature and watch the stars at night. We loved the country roads.

We enjoyed the woods, the water, and the tranquility immensely. This is an exceptional vacation rental -- we recommend it highly to those who want to "get away from it all."

Get away from it all!

If you want to get away from it all this is the place to be! Very nice house on the water. Very quiet. It's a bit of the "beaten path" so if you intend to visit other area's make sure you check the distances. If you intend on visting Bar Harbor and Moosehead Lake area it's a good "in between" place to stay. Cell phone service limited and no wifi. Nice surrounding property and no close neighbors!

My girlfriend and I came looking for a vacation getaway to remove ourselves from the hustle and bustle of city life and that's exactly what we got. Not only was the house spotless and well-maintained but it afforded us all the daily necessities (pots/pans/washer/dryer/etc.) as well as simple luxuries like waterfront dining, fire pit and scenic views. Highly recommended for anyone looking for seclusion and tranquility - we'll definitely be back again next year!

Home Away From Home! (Arrival Date: July 15, 2011)
This home was the perfect place for a family of four (two children 11 & 17) and a Golden Retriever!! There was so much to do at the home that you didn't think about being bored!!! Paddle boat, two kayaks, tree rope swing into pond (kids loved it!!) air hockey table, swimming, enjoying nature, listening to the loons, laying in hammock (watching kids swim) and seeing beavers and fox! We spent a day at Lake Moosehead and took a 4.5 hr steamship boat to Mt. Kineo - breathtaking (1 hr away) We also saw a moose and family of deers on the back roads! The house is modern, fully-equipped, clean, well-maintained. The owner was very nice and helpful. The town is about 15 minutes away for anything you need. It's a perfect place for re-connecting with your family - we had so many laughs!!!! Thank you once again for letting us stay in your home!! We already wish we were back there!! Family Vacation
I was nervous that the pictures were deceiving and the place was smaller once there. We were not disappointed, dare I say I was even more pleased when we walked in. It was clean and spacious, the perfect getaway. There is a desk that you can read what past travelers say and things to do, this was interesting and a great help. I liked that Anna called to see if we got there ok and called on the last night to see how the week went and to see if there was anything to be improved upon. We were at the lake every morning, it was so private. The water was great to swim in and we Kayaked around the whole lake. I have been to a lot of places like Hawaii,Florida and North Carolina and have loved them but I think this spot was a gem and I couldn't have been more pleased with our first trip to Maine.

LOVED THE HOUSE!
My fiancé and I greatly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home on the lake. We had never visited Maine before and after staying here were thinking about buying a house there. It is so peaceful and relaxing. We were able to take our two dogs (Pomeranian and Shiba Inu) for the week and that was wonderful. We got them life jackets and took them out on the kick boat and other than the wicked sunburn I received it was great! It was a little too cold to swim but we sat out on the lake and put our feet in and just did a lot of relaxing. We went up to Moosehead lake and spotted several moose which was awesome and took the dogs on some trail walks (our little one, the pom, was not really wanting to do all that walking so I mostly had to carry her) but it was really neat seeing all of the different kinds of birds and wildlife. We saw a lot of foxes up near Moosehead and some pretty cool loons on the lake at the house. Also, there were lots of mosquitoes, bring the OFF for sure! We visited Bar Harbor and did not feel that it was too far - we had checked the maps before coming and knew what to expect as far as distance goes but we also enjoy longer rides in the car - we were able to see more of Maine that way. We also went and saw Stephen Kings house which was awesome!! So all in all - we had a great time, the house was amazing and clean and the owners were unbelievably helpful as I had one million questions before we rented their home. Thanks and hopefully we can go up again soon!!

GEORGEOUS
No complaints, the only regret we have is that we couldn't stay another week. We will sure try to return next year. This place is absolutely beautiful! We had a great time playing in the water, kayaking at night (we even saw shooting stars), telling stories around the camp fire which we will never forget and hiking Borestone mountain. This is the best! Date of arrival: August 8, 2009 Benders
Isolated Beauty
Off the beatin' path. Great grocery store in town. Moosehead Lake really nice, Bar Harbor farther than anticipated.Enjoyed the pond alot. Date of arrival: July 25, 2009 Reynolds
Wonderful Time!
we had a wonderful time, both in this immaculate home and playing in the water. We look forward to returning some day. Hint to others: "take the back roads, it's much quicker to most destinations" We don't think we could have found a better place for the money! The peace and quiet were just what we needed to "get away" for some meaningful family time. Thanks again... Date of arrival: July 18, 2009

AWESOME SPOT
The home was exactly as described, only the pictures don't depict the beauty exactly. The scenery is incredible and the home had everything we needed! The owners were responsive, easy to deal with and very welcoming. We created many wonderful family memories here. Sure to return, thank you for a great time!
