With two bedrooms and a sleeping loft, ours is a very sweet family-owned beach cottage located in a quiet neighborhood of Rockaway Beach Oregon. The beach access across the street has a paved path to the shore of the Pacific Ocean.
Completely renovated a short time ago, it feels like a new home inside a quaint turn of the century structure. A pleasing blue and white color scheme throughout with light colored wood accents. Sleeping loft, skylights and vaulted ceiling in the living room keeps this 1200 sq ft. home feeling open and roomy. Wireless access available for those who like to stay in touch. A side terrace has been added with an outdoor chimenea. It is so well equipped that you need only bring a bag of groceries to enjoy this vacation getaway!
Winter or summer, this is the place to stay. A seven mile stretch of sandy beach is sparsely populated with a view of Twin Rocks jutting out from the ocean. The Oregon Coast is a great destination whether it is a stormy winter night or a clear blue kite-flying day.
Take a short drive south to the docks of Garibaldi and buy your crab or fish dinner directly from the day's catch of the local fishermen. The artists' community of Cannon Beach is also a popular day trip from the house.
This house is limited to 8 people.

Oasis at the beach

My famiy of 3 stayed at Saltair Cottage for three nights. Everything about the house is relaxing, thoughtfully planned, clean and well-maintained. Rather than staying at a vacation rental, it feels like you are staying at a tasteful friend's second home. We cooked one night and found everything we needed in the functional kitchen. The yard and patio are beautiful, as is the connecting path (across the street) to the beach. The beach at Rockaway is long , peaceful and uncrowded. The city is fairly sleepy and doesn't offer a lot of choices for dining out, but Nehalem and Manzanita aren't too far away. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and will likely return.

Saltair is a great base location for restaurants and other attractions both north and south along the coast, and as you found out, equipped to let you stay home and cook your own meal. For those who have rented any other place in the past with one small pan matched with one large lid, two forks and fourteen spoons will find the kitchen utensils you need for many fine meals.

A wonderful seaside vacation

Our entire family had a fantastic and relaxing time at the Saltair cottage! The cottage was very clean and furnished way more than we expected. You can't ask for better access to a more private part of the beach and it comes out right at twin rocks. Combine all that with a short walk to downtown Rockaway or a short drive to Tillamook and we had all we needed for a memorable vacation.

The perfect retreat

My husband and I selected this beautiful cottage for our vacation from the internet, and the actual experience didn't let us down. The cottage is as clean and charming as it looks, with plenty of room for families (even though it was only the two of us) and everything you could need for added comfort. We had plenty of dishes, towels, blankets, appliances and even some cupboard basics were there. Internet and phone connections (if you really want to stay connected) were perfect. The garden was beautiful and the patio a nice place to dine outside. Best of all was the beach, which was a very short walk via a paved path from the house. There is a perfect view of the twin rocks, and there is plenty of room to feel like its your own private beach. We woke every morning, grabbed a cup of coffee and went walking on the beach... Fresh seafood is readily available in nearby Garibaldi, and there are plenty of shopping, restaurants, parks and hiking trails a short distance away. This is a base camp for a coastal vacation and a perfect retreat. We would love to return some day. Lastly, the cottage owner deserves praise for a beautifully decorated and maintained home. It was a pleasure to work with her.

A great place to stay

We were delighted to find this cottage in Rockaway. We've just begun exploring this area of the Oregon coast and were delighted to find Saltair. We enjoy the Rockaway beach and were thrilled to be so close to trails to the beach. The cottage was just the right size for the 4 of us. Our 15 year old granddaughter liked claiming the loft area as her own! We will definitely plan on returning.

Saltair Cottage is considered in our family "Our home away from home." This is our 3rd year to spend Spring Break here and even though the weather was storming we didn't notice because this is such a wonderful place to stay. So warm and cozy with everything you could possible need for a trip away from home. I would highly recommend staying here if you have the chance.

A perfect Oregon Coast experience

Saltair has a cozy cottage feeling without being small at all. It is warm, comfortable, and has a great layout. The kitchen, dining, and living rooms opened up to each other nicely, which made it very enjoyable to spend time with other guests while cooking, playing games, reading, or watching some tv. It was incredibly close to the ocean, on a quiet road, and with all the amenities we needed. It was also immaculately maintained. And as a bonus, the owner was very easy to communicate with and amicable too. Will definitely be coming back!

One of our Best Vacations

We spent the last week of September at Saltair. The place is immaculate. The owner has obviously put much thought and care into making it comfortable, cozy, snug, inviting, homey, attractive. I could go on, but you get the picture. With the exception of fresh food everything you could need is there, even down to sharpened pencils! The pretty cottage garden is a really nice touch. Not to mention location: a short walk through a lovely wooded path and you're at a long, clean stretch of beach. Our stay at Saltair was well worth the long drive from Billings Montana, and we are already making plans to return in 2012. Janine and Roger Pryor

Amazing house, wonderful weekend

I am from Eugene and had a friend visiting from Colorado. We wanted a cozy little house as a home base for a weekend away over Memorial Day, and I am incredibly glad that we ended up at Saltair. The house was clean, tastefully decorated, quiet, and fully stocked. The two queen-bed bedrooms were great - we both slept better than we had in weeks. The loft would have been great if we had a larger party with kids. We like to cook, so the kitchen was delightful with good utensils and a wide variety of spices/oils/etc. It was a short walk down the path to watch the amazing sunset over the ocean, and we could hear the waves crashing from the front porch. Jeannine was incredible - very quick to respond to questions. She had clearly listened to the requests of previous visitors (as evidenced by the visitors' log in the house) and had made small but meaningful improvements on an already great house. There were a lot of little touches about how the house was stocked and arranged that made the stay even better. I've already recommended Saltair to coworkers and friends, and I will definitely be checking its availability the next time I go for a coast getaway.

Beyond our Expectations!

This cottage can be described with one word: PERFECT. Every single thing we needed was there. I absolutely could not believe it. The place is super clean, wonderfully decorated and located right across the street from beach access!! The cupboards are stocked, including spices and other pantry items, the linens are plentiful and the kitchen appliances and washer/dryer allowed us to feel right at home. The beds are VERY comfortable, including the mattresses in the upstairs sleeping area where I slept with my grandkids. The double bath layout is exactly what we needed with 3 generations of females! This is a charming, well lit, extremely tidy cottage with MUCH more room than the description online conveys. The layout is fantastic for both privacy and enjoyment with a small group of people. I felt like I was staying in someone's home that they had allowed me to use on a very special trip. To make our perfect stay complete, the weather for the entire week in late December/early January was sunny and clear every, single day. We drove across the country to meet my mother and spend a week with her at the coast and I selected this cottage sight unseen. I could not be happier!

Five of us "thiry-something" women rented this house for a little R&R and a break from the kids for a few days. It was everything we hoped for and more! The house was adorably decorated, clean and cozy. It had all the amenities we needed too, even a little food processor. We used the grill to cook both nights and would have used the chiminea to roast our marshmellows had the friendly neighbors not invited us to join them in their bonfire. We loved having the beach just a half block away. We watched the sunset both night and enjoyed the seclusion. It was a wonderful, much needed respite. I will definitely rent this house again with the family. It's also the very nicest house on the entire street. The garden blew me away. So very beautiful!!!

My mom (86 years old) and myself just spent 5 days at Saltair. What a cute and cozy little cottage. I loved having a thermastat in each room and the heated bench in the kitchen. It was a perfect spot for exploring both north and south along the coast of Oregon. We stocked up at Fred Meyer on our way from the Portland airport and were able to make fast, easy suppers at the end of full days of exploring and picnic lunches to take with us. We had terrific nights sleep on the most comfortable beds. There was so much to enjoy right at the cottage, but we were on the go most of the time. We had great weather and our pictures turned out fabulous. The coast is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. The 3 cape scenic loop drive from Tillamook was fantastic. A volunteer was at one lookout with a telescope to show us birds nesting on the rocks. Oregon is beautiful and the people are very friendly.

Loved Saltair!

We stayed at Saltair Thursday night and left Saturday morning during Mid-October. The weather was amazing all weekend and the cottage was wonderful. The cottage is kept in great condition and the lawn is immaculate. In my opinion, the best looking cottage on the street. The cottage was very clean and included all amenities and then some. We would definitely stay here again. Overall great experience.

My selfish side wants to keep Saltair our own secret, but the truth is, our second trip to Saltair was even better than our first...which was wonderful! The garden was gorgeous,the path to the beach was magical and convenient. The cottage is very clean and well cared for, with such a lovely and tasteful decor. Everything we needed was provided, even a juicer for fresh squeezed orange juice! The kids loved it as much as my husband and I. This place was absolutely wonderful for our 25th anniversary. We were here for an entire week and not a disappointing moment went by. You made our stay here absolutely the best and we have spent some time at the World Mark in Depoe bay, Seaside, Newport, Yachats, Bridal Veil and so on inland as well. This was the best. I would definitely recommend this place to any one that would want a nice place to stay. We found the beach a quiet and wonderful place to go. We also appreciated the quiet street that it was on and just a block from one of the busiest highways in the Western portion of America. Thank you The Zimmerman's

The cottage is quaint and wonderful. Very clean and cozy. Just a short walk to the beach. Wonderful for a family or just two. The owners were easy to work with. We will be back.

We had a great long weekend at the Saltair, two families with children. The room upstairs is perfect for the kids, and the two queen bedrooms were great for parents. We were happy with how clean and neat the house was, also a very short walk to the beach. Overall i would recommend.

If you want a sure thing, this is it! There is no one I wouldn't recommend this perfect vacation house to. It is large enough for two families to share, with two equal bedrooms and a loft with enough room for all the children, while also being small enough for a romantic weekend with a loved one. This home doesn't lack for anything, including Shout it Out, kites and charcoal, and to top it off the fabulous beach is right there, literally, after a short walk down a meandering paved path. I'd recommend you go, and I suspect you'll go back again and again just as we have.

Saltair is a charming, peaceful retreat, inside and out! Whether sitting on the patio enjoying the wonderful landscaping and a nice cozy fire, or relaxing in the open and airy livingroom, Saltair is sure to please everyone. My daughters enjoyed having there own space upstairs in the loft and we all loved having two bathrooms. The eat-in kitchen is a bonus and everyone loves the 'heated' bench at the table! The is a very well appointed house, it has everything you need and is a stones throw from the beach. You won't be disappointed.

Cozy,clean,light,airy,a treasure. This sweet cottage is well cared for and in turn we felt well cared for during our stay. We found many extra touches that gave us delight and warm feelings. The short path to the beach is beautiful, as is the beach itself. Our nine and ten year old girls loved the sleeping loft,window seat to sit on and play games or to read,the kites and beach toys, and we all loved having two bathrooms. The quaint kitchen was charming and well stocked. We are looking forward to a return trip!

My staff conducted our retreat at this beach house in May, and it was absolutely perfect. The house had everything we could possibly need and then some. We cooked, listened to music, watched a few films, flew a kite on the beach... We will definitely be back.

Saltair is just lovely - spacious and bright with the sounds of the ocean lulling you to sleep. With the water a stone's throw away you can spend time on the beach, patio, or the cozy kitchen all within the same hour. This is the perfect place for a personal vacation or work retreat. Tastefully decorated in shades of blue it feels like the coastal cabin you have always wanted. Rockaway is a great town with the summer jazz festival, kite festival, friendly people, and so much to do at your doorstep. I highly reccomend Saltair.

I don't have enough good things to say about this place. It is spacious, brand-new remodel job, excellent decorations (so beachy!) literally next to the beach, well-stocked kitchen, everything you could possibly want. It rained while we were there and we hardly noticed. The cabin heated up quickly and had a heater in every room, and two bathrooms which was key since the rain didn't stop us from going to the beach. I would highly recommend this place to anyone- we are in our 20s and loved it, and I know if my parents were to come they would love it too. Definitely planning on going back!
