Dolphin's Point - House on Copano Bay w/2 T-heads
|Per night:||$250 - $400|
|Per week:||$1,845 - $2,920|
Description of the Rockport vacation home rental
There are 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths upstairs. Beds include king, queen and 2 twin beds. The main living and cooking areas are upstairs. A suite with a 3rd bedroom, full bath with walk in shower is down stairs. It is equipped with a queen bed, 2 twin beds, flat screen TV, and a sitting area.
This home sits on a small point on the eastern shore of Copano Bay. You are right on the bay...not on a canal - not a "bay view" - not 'bay access". Step from the kitchen through French doors onto a shaded deck. The bay is at your feet. Down the stairs, a dozen or more steps across the yard and you are on the pier. In front of you is open water with the far shore miles away, barely in sight. It's the perfect family fishing spot - everything you need is right here.
You have your own private lighted fishing pier right in your backyard all to yourself. The pier has two benches, dual level platforms and a cleaning station with power and water. You have a 1200w high intensity fishing light which really brings in the fish at night! Access to a boat ramp is nearby at the causeway. Dolphin's Point is located right on the bay and in the heart of some the best saltwater fishing in the state.
The dual level platform on the pier allows for easy water level access, great for getting family in and out of the boat, and for kayakers. Beautifully landscaped with privacy in mind, this house sits on an extra large lot. Catch trout, flounder, redfish, shrimp and crab from your private pier. Feed the seagulls from the deck and watch the beautiful blue herons hunt the shallows.
Dolphin's Point has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and living room with cable TV and a DVD player. There are two bedrooms and 1.5 baths. There is one king and one queen bed, two singles and the house sleeps six comfortably. All cooking utensils are provided as well as bed linens and towels. Please bring your own beach towels. Central air and heat, free wireless high speed internet access. Bring food, clothes, and personal items and get ready to relax!
Drink coffee in the shade every morning and toast the sunset over the bay at night. The palm trees, the fishing, the view, and the soft air of the Gulf Coast will relax you. Our home is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Enjoy your meals out in the open overlooking the bay. Spend the day beachcombing Padre Island then spend the nights fishing our private pier under the lights.
Dolphin's Point is in the attractive Copano Ridge neighborhood, about 4 miles due west of Rockport. We are on the southeast end of beautiful Copano Bay. The water is 3-4 feet deep at our pier's end, perfect for bay fishing and boating - but no diving in! Copano bay is fantastic for fishing, but for swimming you have plenty of nearby beaches to choose from.
Annual events within the Rockport/Fulton area include: Fulton Oysterfest, Rockport Art Festival, Fiesta en La Playa, Hummingbird Celebration, Rockport Seafair, and Christmas Celebration or Lights. The Rockport area is world famous for birding, first class fishing, whooping crane tours, kayak adventures, dolphin watching. Nearby destinations include: Texas Maritime Museum, Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, Rockport Center for the Arts, Copano Bay Causeway State Park. About 30 miles away in Courpus Christi is the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington. The Gulf of Mexico is 45 minutes away on Mustang Island at Port Aransas, with Padre Island National Seashore a little further. Rockport has a calm, shallow sandy beach right in town and it the state's only Blue Wave Beach. It's perfect for smaller children since there is no current or surf.
Enjoy the serenity of the view from the back deck. Not only are the sunsets spectacular, but so it the birding.
Here's a brief of the first 6 month of the Rockport Calendar of Birds:
January- whooping cranes, sandhill cranes, snow geese, snowy and piping plovers, American Avocet and Marled Godwit
February- Harris's Hawk, cranes, Great Kiskadee, Green Jay, Cactus Wren
March-American Golden Plover, Sandpipers, Eared Grebe, hummingbirds
April- broad winged Hawks, Mississippi Kites, warblers, vireos, thrashers, buntings, raptors
May- over 140 species can be expected including warblers, tanager and more
June- Cassin's, White tailed Hawk, Crested Cracara, Greater Roadrunner, Ladder backed woodpeckers, Scissor-tailed flycatchers
Copano Bay is a nursery bay, and is permanently closed to shrimp boats throughout the year. As a result, the water is clearer, the fish more plentiful, and the fishing can be fantastic! If you don't catch your own, you can drive into town, over to Aransas Pass or down to Corpus Christi for some of the freshest seafood around.

Great home! We love the downstairs suite!
November 7, 2013
My wife, my 15 month old son, and I went for a weekend excursion, and stayed at this beautiful home on Copano Bay. It couldn't have been better. We arrived in time to see the sunset, then we had a nice dinner on the picnic table overlooking the water. We stayed in the downstairs room, which could be called the penthouse. Beautifully decorated, easy access to the pier, and very comfortable overall. It was especially nice since our son could "get away" from the group to nap when needed. Great location. Great amenities. Great entertaining with friends. Even great fishing. We usually go once a year to the Rockport area, but now that we've found this place, we will try to make trips more frequently. I highly recommend this property.
Great house, wonderful view of bay
November 5, 2013
We had a great time at Dolphin Point! We stayed in the newly remodeled 3rd bedroom downstairs and it was perfect - we could drink tea or coffee and look out at the bay from the windows in the room in the mornings, and we had a great breeze while sitting down there grilling burgers one night (before we caught our fish). We've been to this house a number of times over the years and there is often a fresh 'update' since the last visit - improved seawall, longer pier, new benches on the pier, better lighting. The Carsons really keep the house looking attractive and well-maintained . We enjoy watching birds, dolphins and other sea life as well - turtles! And yes, we do catch fish. We had enough to feed the houseful of us at our last visit. My little grand-twins are 3 and a half and just learning to fish, and this will be the perfect place to take them - having the separate bedroom downstairs will give us a nice mother-in-law plan for quiet naps for kiddos or grandma. Planning a trip back already.

We stayed before on Aransas Bay in Rockport, so we were facing east and the water was usually choppy when we sat outside. This house faces west, overlooking the bay and the water was so much more calm and relaxing. Plus, we got to see the sunsets instead of the sunrises (I see more sunsets)! We stayed in the downstairs "suite" and loved it. Its extremely pleasurable to get away from everyone upstairs for some peace and quiet. Nice neighborhood, the prettiest we've seen yet!
Love the sunets!!

We have been going to Dolphin’s Point for years and we go several times a year. The home is well laid out, clean, well kept and has a great view of the bay with awesome sunsets and a great pier. The recent addition of the 3rd bedroom downstairs was a really good idea. We are in our early 30’s and some of us have young children and some do not. The 3 bedroom is away from the rest of the house and has it own flat screen TV, sitting area and full bath. It also has 2 twin beds. An entire family can stay down there. It’s perfect for putting napping infants or in other times to separate energized young children so that adults can nap upstairs. The shower is also a walk in shower so it has easy access for young children or oler folks. Also splitting the daily rent between 2 families makes it more affordable and we are able to stay longer.

Love staying here !!!
October 11, 2013
We have stayed at Dolphin's Point several times, and it is WONDERFUL !!! Beautiful and comfortable home with great views. The new addition of a third bedroom with complete bathroom downstairs is perfect for additional family and friends. The new downstairs bathroom looks like a resort or spa. And we love spending time on the pier catching fish. This is our favorite place to get away for fun times, and we have already scheduled our next visit.

Great place, wonderful docks and loved watching the dolphins. The only draw back was a lack of beds ..the king, queen and a day bed were there, no other single and the couch did not fold out. Would stay there again....just bring blow up beds.

The house was just as adveriised, very clean and neat. We enjoyed our visit very much and would rercommed this rental to anyone (except a handicapped person who cannot climb steps). We loved being right on the water and the long pier for fishing, also having privacy for relaxing. It is in a nice quite neighborhood, Rockport is only a few miles away and has anything you might want. Sunsets were gorgeous, we hope to return some day.
Thank you for the nice review Ray and Harriette. I am glad you had a good time and enjoyed my home. Currently I am in the process of adding a downstairs room with a walk in shower, so even people that do not like to climb stairs will be able to go there to fish and enjoy the sunsets. I hope to hear back from you.

WHAT A CATCH!!!
November 19, 2012
We loved this place. The weather was fantastic! The vacation rental home (Dolphins Point) was very quaint, comfortable and an ideal place for a fishing getaway. There are two memories I will cherish for a lifetime. Let me explain: On Saturday night, my brother and I stayed up in the evening to do a little fishing. To my surprise, I was able to catch what seemed like a 44'in black drum. It was huge!!! It put up such a fight that after 20 minutes of struggling with this monster, I finally managed to get it close enough to the deck where my brother was waiting with the net. Well..unfortunately it went under the deck and got tangled on one of the deck pillars and snapped my line. I couldn't believe it ! The fish out smarted us. We were so bummed. Everyone got tired of hearing about it and well sometimes seeing is believing. lol But it really happened!! Day two (Sunday). My brother and my sister-in-law left early leaving me and my cousin Kathy alone to do the fishing. Well Kathy is animal and mammal lover... so go figure. She decided to take a nap upstairs and left me alone on the pier to do the fishing. Right about 11 am, my reel jolted once again and lo and behold there was a bull red (atleast 37-40 inches) at the end of my line. There I was by my little lonesome with this monster of a fish. What to do!!! He was just as tough as the one from the previous night!! "Well what the hell", I said to myself and continued to reel him in. After a good 10 minutes he started to wear me out. He was just too big for poor ole' me!! All of sudden, I heard someone yell, "Don't worry help is on the way"! Your neighbor (big tall man, Bob I believe) came running to help. He noticed how much I was struggling and wanted to lend a helping hand. He managed to coach me on how to reel him close to the deck without having him go under. He grabbed the net, layed down on the deck and grabbed the head of the fish with the net. Well guess what? My line snapped before he could get his whole body in the net. He got away!!! Your neighbor was just as disappointed as I was but it didn't matter, I was just grateful he came to help me. He was really nice. I thanked him again before leaving your property afterall, it was a great experience for the both of us. So.. that was my fishing adventure. I wasn't able to pull the fish up to the deck but I did manage to reel them in. It would have been a catch and release anyway but I would have loved to contribute to your website pictures. I did
Thank you Angela! I am glad you had a great time and enjoyed your stay. What a great story! Now everyone will be asking your secret for bringing in those huge fish. So I will ask the first question- what kind of bait were you using? We look forward to hearing from you again :) Yes- and Bob is a great neighbor!

Great place to relax
October 25, 2012
Dolphins Point is a very pleasant surprise as far as a rental. The house is located in a nice neighborhood setting and right on the bay. It is only about a 5 minute drive to any and all services you might need. The house is nicely decorated and everything you need is there. (We have never stayed in a rental that was so well equipped with dishes, pots & pans, linens, and extras that were great quality items.) The deck overlooking the bay is perfect and gives a really convenient and comfortable spot for lounging, watching the sunsets and relaxing. The private pier is more than adequate and the fishing is excellent. The only constructive comment might be that the king size mattress in the one bedroom is very soft and for anyone with back problems, not the best! Maybe time for updating! This was a truly wonderful experience and we recommend Dolphin's point to anyone. It is a great value for the modest price and you'll really enjoy your stay. Thanks Tami, we'll be staying with you again soon! Cyndi & Joe,
Thank you Joe and I hope to have you and Cindy back. Speaking of backs :0), my husband has a bad back too and I struggle to find a mattress with a pillow top that is frim enough for him and not too firm for others. That mattress is only 3 years old. Maybe I will consider a mattress with a removeable pillow top in order to please everyone.

My parents and I really enjoyed the house it was very clean, first time I stayed in a rental home on the bay and did not feel like i needed to wash all the dishes before i used them!! The pier was very well layed out for the avid fisherman, which i am, the fishing was a hit and miss but that is every where!! We really enjoyed it, and I do have plans to come back. Rhonda Howell

Their was 4 adults staying from 9/6/12 to 9/9/12. The place was really nice and clean. Loved the pier we stayed their most of the time we fished all day and part of the night. We caught a 15" Speckled trout on Thursday night. Friday we caught 20" Speckled trout. Saturday we caught several Speckled trout and Bass but they were to small to keep. We will be back. Thanks for a Great time.
Fishing & Relaxing on Copono Bay
July 31, 2012
We truly had a great time on our recent stay at Dolphins Point. The weather was perfect, the house was nice and clean with plenty of room for our family of 5. The fishing was fun and we managed to catch 25 -30 speckeled trout , not quite keeper size as the time before but lots of fun action. The sunsets were beautiful and the kids were able to see some dolphins swim by near the light at night. Dolphins Point is a great place to sit back, relax and clear your thoughts. Thank You for the great time.

"Home Away From Home"
April 11, 2011
Over the (early) years, we have stayed many places on the Texas Gulf Coast, but none have given us the feel of "home away from home" as Dolphin's Point...that is why we have been staying in the Carson's family vacation homes now for over 20 yrs. Dolphin's Point has all the amenities you could want, plus the fact it is situated in the lovely & quiet community of Copano Ridge, on the pristine Copano Bay. Photo opportunities are endless with its beautiful sunsets as well as the variety of birds...and for those of you, like us, who enjoy a good thunderstorm now & again, the show over the bay can be spectacular! And the fishing...some of the very best the gulf has to offer ...from the private pier right at your back door!! We have, on several occasions, "limited-out" on consecutive days. With town of Rockport/Fulton literally just a couple minutes away, you have everything you need...public boat ramps, bait stands, shops galore, & an eclectic variety of restaurants (not to mention the movie theater that runs current movies & still has free popcorn/bring your own bowl every Tuesday). AND the fact that not only is the home well maintained, very clean, & quite lovely, Tami & Jim are two of the nicest "hosts" you'll ever deal with, making the experience even that much better.

Lovely home with great deck and pier!
March 11, 2011
This home was lovely and well - maintained. It was about 5 miles from town, so our run to restaurants was a bit long, but the home has a complete kitchen, which we could have used easily with a bit better planning. The 4 Hansens.
March 10, 2011
In spite of record breaking cold weather and ice, we enoyed our stay at Dolphin Point. The home is clean and well maintained in a nice area of Copano Bay and the neighbors were great. The kitchen is stocked for about anything you want to cook. The home is close to many attractions and Tami and her friend, Tara, were most helpful in making our plans for the trip. We were fortunate enough to see the endangered whooping cranes as well as hundreds of other kinds of birds and the (fresh) fish markets were wonderful!
January 1, 2011
Lovely house, well equipped and well kept. Fantastic fishing opportunities, tons of birds, beautiful view. We will be back.
August 15, 2010
Enjoyed the trip. I have no complaints about the rental. It wad as advertised. The owner was extremely helpful and courteous! Plan on staying there again. Only reason that I rated it a 4 Star trip was the lack of fish that we caught, which was probably partly my fault.

dolphin point paradise
July 20, 2010
The dolphin point property was divine! And aptly named for it's breathtaking view of dolphins frollicking in the bay!! We had a ball! Crabbing and fishing off the beautifully lit pier was so fun for adults and kids too. The amenities were extremely nice; luxurious bedding, well stocked kitchen, wonderful Rockport dining and activity ideas were provided. We just enjoyed every single minute of our stay at Dolphin point.

My wife and I enjoyed stay very much. Inconvenient for boat as launch and bait house is far away from location. Had boat problems so enjoyability was hampered, however, neighbors were very helpful in directing me to a close boat launch that I could use on emergency basis. We still had an enjoyable time.

The dock and lighting setup were great = fishing was nice - the home was clean and well equipped. Very nice quite area. A dolphin came into the lights at night as well as Great Heron on the fishing pier. The ducks were fun as well. Had a nice time.

Sunset was lovely, and sitting on the deck looking out over the bay was very relaxing. Fishing was great too. Home is comfortable and well outfitted for cooking in.
