Area Information

Rockport is a sailor's haven and a vacationer's paradise. There are excellent marinas and fantastic fishing, hunting, and bird watching opportunities. There are some 17 art galleries along a one mile route through town along with many other kinds of interesting shops. The beach is clean and not too crowded, and there are interesting things to see in the surrounding parks and the nearby Aransas Wildlife Refuge.

Four Generations Fishing

What a wonderful trip, one we will never forget. My brother and I wanted to take our dad, 78 years old, fishing in Rock Port one more time before we turn around and it's too late. Dad use to take use there when we were kids. My brother wanted to bring his 17 year old son and I thought that's cool 3 generations, then it hit me I have a 6 year old grandson who has never been fishing if we take him that would be four generations. Wow, it was the best fishing trip we have ever had. Not because of all the fish we caught, we didn't catch much be because of all the memories we will have forever. This little canal cabin was perfect. when dad got tired he'd just walk back in the cabin and when Trevin, my grandson said "I'm thirsty" he just when inside for a drink and right back to fishing. As far as fish caught, well we caught 2 10-12 inch sheephead the first day and a couple of hardhead but it was early morning on our last day when we got a real thrill, I hooked what turned out to be a near State record size sheephead off that "little pier out back". It was 24 inches long and wt was just over 13 lbs. The state record is 26 inches and 15,5 lbs. It was great and Trevin just couldn't believe it. After lots of photos we let the big fella go back into the canal. As for the cabin, it was VERY WELL outfitted with everything we needed. From cooking supplies to comfortable beds, 3 different TVs, movie library, none of us could complain. Would I stay there again...Oh Hell Yeah!

Dont know why there has been any negative reviews for this place. The canal is clean and gorgeous, not to mention full of life. You may not catch the huge red here but the ducks and herons will keep you entertained. The property management is top notch as is the house. This house has all of the space you could need, and the comfiest futons we have ever experienced. My parents came to visit on one weekend and they agreed that we had scored with this rental.The deck out back hosted us many a sunset, and the neighbors are great. If you have a bicycle bring it, the light traffic and fun neighborhood makes for an enjoying ride. Everyday we would comment about how we lived in paradise. With the open windows and cross breeze you may not even need the A/C. Simply put, we loved this house and Rockport so much we now live here.
