Description of the Rotonda West vacation villa rental
Our home on Rotonda near Port Charlotte boasts an envied tropical location and offers all you need for an utterly relaxing holiday. Southwest Florida enjoys a near perfect climate, in which extreme summer or winter temperatures are mellowed by the presence of the Gulf of Mexico
The villa is light and spacious, beautifully furnished and equipped, air-conditioned (even the walk-in cupboard!), with cathedral ceilings, spacious well-equipped kitchen, utility room and ceramic-tiled bathrooms, the larger of which has a Jacuzzi-style bath. It sleeps 6 in luxurious comfort.
Poolside bedrooms overlook the sparkling heated pool and hot tub, set in a peaceful tropical position in an area famous for tranquil and unspoiled beaches. On the opposite shore of the lake there are pine trees and tropical plants and the beautifully manicured Pine Valley golf course. The villa is in a very private and secluded location and this means you have the opportunity to view exotic birds and local wild life while sipping a cold drink on the deck. The pool faces south west so is beautifully light all day round and in the evening gives you have a ringside seat to the most spectacular sunsets.
Area Description
When you tire of sitting by our private screened-in pool, there are boundless places of interest to visit including attractions, museums and cultural opportunities. Apart from the beaches, the boat-trips to islands and the wonderful shopping, the region abounds with State Parks where this wonderful sub-tropical Eco-system is being preserved. These parks usually incorporate nature trails, boat tours, canoe rentals, and those on island have, of course, mile upon mile of sandy beaches with great shelling. The wildlife to be enjoyed includes pelicans, egrets, pretty scarlet cardinals, red-cockaded woodpeckers, raccoons, bobcats, alligators, manatees, bald eagles, and the now sadly rare Florida black bears and panthers (though we don’t see many of these last two in our back yard!).The nearest beaches are Englewood about 10 to 15 minutes drive away and the beautiful island of Boca Grande, a millionaire's playground.
There is excellent shopping in Englewood, and you are sure to find everything you need locally. For food, the Publix supermarket is only minutes away and open until very late at night and 24 hours at certain periods of the year. They have a vast range of food and wine and a deliciously inviting delicatessen. There is a superb fish counter..........and you can have your lobster steamed, ready to eat! They also have a Pharmacy and Bank facilities.
Port Charlotte has a new shopping mall, the Port Charlotte Town Centre. Many a satisfying afternoon can be whiled away in here should your Bank balance allow it! The most renowned of Sarasota’s shopping areas is St. Armands Circle, an island of exquisite boutiques, restaurants and galleries.
This park-like circle is home to over 100 shops and restaurants, which, it has to be said, are generally pricey (observe Sarasota’s seriously wealthy pull up in their chauffeur driven limos!) however, it is wonderfully atmospheric in the early evening to wander around and can be combined with a trip to Siesta Key’s white talcum-powder sand beach
If, like us, you love dining out, you will have come to the right place. Renowned for fresh local caught seafood, there is a vast choice of places to eat. Every kind of cuisine is catered for from Continental to Japanese. Many restaurants are at the water’s edge, portions are huge and, importantly, inexpensive, so that eating out really is a pleasure!
Make sure you take the short boat trip to Palm Island Resort Restaurant one evening. Palm Island is a private community with a lovely beach – which us ordinary mortals are not allowed to use!
For golfers we are right next to the Long Marsh Golf Club.
Long Marsh's gently rolling fairways meander through 450 acres of natural Florida scrub. Its fairways and greens invitingly framed by native pines, oaks and palms and is Rotonda's newest golf courses. This Ted McAnlis-designed course opened in February of 1999, and it's newest 9 Hole addition in 2007 and is enjoyable for golfers of all levels. At Long Marsh Golf Club in Rotonda West, each hole has its own distinctive character, set amid natural bunkers, lakes and marshes that are haven for wildlife. Four sets of tee boxes provide course distances ranging from 5257 yards to 7120 yards.
We know you will love this unspoiled area of Florida’s Gulf Coast as we do. Clearwater and St.Petes Beach are the more famous holiday destinations, as is expensive Naples and Fort Myers, but in between these is a less well known stretch of glorious coastline, with long beaches, turquoise seas, lush green landscapes and vivid sunsets. The South West Gulf Coast has miles and miles of natural pristine beaches and clear water, with an average temperature of about 75 degrees year round and an ocean temperature of around 80.
There are many lovely shells to collect, and looking carefully you will find sharks teeth as well. Lots of beaches are shallow for quite a long way out, making them ideal for small children. Most will have car parks and may also have picnic tables and Barbecue facilities for your use.
Our home is about 10 minutes from Englewood, this being close to shore. Take the Beach Road in Englewood, turn right at Englewood Beach and you come to Middle Beach on Manasota Key – our personal favourite. This area is still largely undiscovered by Europeans who still tend to go where the package operators point them. Consequently it is much less commercialised, less developed, and less frantic.
The coastline comprises a series of keys or islands. In effect, giant sandbars, which have matured into a chain of islands running along the entire length of the coast. High- rise hotels are few in number and instead there is a mixture of small motels, small apartments and private residences set in lush vegetation

"Of all the places we have visited in Florida this had to be the most relaxing and peaceful. Everything was close by, great restaurants, beautiful beaches and main roads still within easy reach should you wish to explore. The villa was very clean and well maintained and I would not hesitate to recommend it."

We had wonderful relaxing time, pictures do not do this property justice, The lake to the rear is beautiful, and wildlife abounds. everything catered for at Villa including bikes, fishing rods, even chairs to take to beach, Add internet access for checking in for flights on line, Pine Valley Ct is only about 20 minutes from Boca Grande and Manasota key beaches which are fabulous, Many places to eat within short distance, However we chose to use the Gas BBQ grill and eat on sun deck, utilising the wonderful quality patio furniture. Hot Tub and pool also a great bonus. All in All TOP NOTCH HOLIDAY. Many thanks for allowing us to use such a lovely home."

"This was a beautiful peaceful luxurious retreat in the sun. The villa was absolutely wonderful with a great pool and relaxing jacuzzi looking out onto a creek with visits from numerous kinds of birds and wildlife. It was lovely and clean and had everything we needed for our relaxing holiday. The beaches were only 10-15 minutes away with shops and restaurants a short drive also. Thoroughly recommend it to family and friends and would be more than happy to return again in the near future. Many thanks Jill"

"Do I need to say more? This is a beautiful house, nicely decorated and well looked after. Very comfortable and a nice haven to return to after a day at one of the many beaches. We enjoyed it a lot and will certainly recommend it!"

"Dear Jill, We have rented several villas over the years, and yours was among the very best. Everything was great. and we have already recommended it to our friends. Most enjoyable and advantageous over other properties, is the fact that there are no neighbours overlooking the pool! It is beautiful, peaceful, and totally relaxing. We had a wonderful time. My eldest daughter learned how to swim, and the heated pool and Jacuzzi were a constant delight. I'm sure that comes as no surprise to you. Best regards. Etienne Franck "
