Description of the Saco vacation cottage rental

Cozy Maine cottage with ocean views. Short walk to private, sandy beach .. maybe 100 yeards. Large, grassy back yard .. deemed the best in the neighborhood .. with BBQ, picnic table, lounge chairs. Dining porch has views. Listen to the ocean waves!
Quiet neighborhood .. off-the beaten path but close to everything .. shopping, amusements, night life, culture.
Can walk the beach for miles, bike, ocean or river kayak.
Cottage is small but charming. Two bedrooms .. one with a double bed on the ocean side and a second with trundle bed .. twin with a second twin that slides out. Second bedroom is very small .. perfect for a child. Queen sleep sofa in the living room.
Front sitting porch.
Nicely furnished, well-stocked with pots and pans, comfortable!
Also willing to "swap" a week for western ski resort or other interesting destination.
NO pets without prior approval of owner.

Area Information

Quiet spot on Maine coast ... but within a half hour of major attractions. Long, sandy beach you can walk for miles. Kayaking, fishing, clam-digging, boating, bird-watching, biking. Within a half hour of Portland and its museums, bustling old port, islands, restaurants and shopping (including LL Beans).

great vacation

This cottage was nice and clean and very sweet. A little small but for a family of four it was fine. We wish it had a tub for our youngest child but we managed fine with the shower. The yard was great and the beach was absolutely perfect. The beach was a simple short walk away and so quiet and private. We had the beach to ourselves many mornings. The whole cottage neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. We had a perfect vacation with two young children.

We stayed for a week at the cottage and it was indeed very charming, nice and clean. We were a family of two adults and one baby. The main bedroom was nice and airy, we could hear the sounds of the sea at night. The other bedroom was quite smaller but since our baby slept in her portable crib, we cannot rate the two trundle beds. It's ideal for a family of two adults and one or two children, but anymore would be somewhat cramped in our opinion. The kitchen was nice and furnished, even though it would have been nice to have some basic food items to cook with (oil, sugar, pepper, aluminum paper for the bbq). The only thing we'd have to say would be that the vacuum cleaner and mop that were available to clean before leaving were quite old and worn down. It was hard to do a thorough clean with such poor tools, but nevertheless, all in all a wonderful experience! The beach is nice and really close, and very quiet (not hoards of people on it), the neighborhood is friendly and Camp ellis is just a short stroll away with other amenities a very short drive away. Nancy the renter is very friendly also and kept in close contact to make sure we were ok. We would definitely rent it again :)

Oh .. I will definitely be replacing the vacuum and the mop! I love guests who want to leave my cottage clean and am happy to help out by buying the proper equipment!

the cottage was cute and clean however although it said 2 twin/single beds the second bed was under the first and the room being so small the only way to get out of the first bed was to step on the person in the second bed! Not cool! We did have a good week though but would not rent it again only because of the bed situation, everything else was wonderful!

Very nice cottage, clean and well equiped. Nice quiet neighborhood, nice shady yard. Only a few steps from tne beach. Will be back!
