Description of the Saco vacation home rental

DEWITT - Ferry Beach, Saco

New to the rental market 2013. Cute 2-bedroom cottage located on the corner of Seaside Ave. & Fairhaven Ave. Just walk down Fairhaven for beach access, about a minute walk or less BED SETUP: Master has 1 full bed; Bedroom #2 has 2 built-in twins. Sleeps 4 in beds. There is also a cot which could be used on the front enclosed porch. Room to bring air mattress if you need for extra person. There is parking for 2-3 cars in the driveway. Interior is knotty pine wood. Bath has a shower (no tub). Home has a apartment size dishwasher, full kitchen, microwave, enclosed front porch, patio in rear with gas BBQ grille and a large yard, all fenced in. Pets are permitted with approval. Only $1,200. Off-season rates vary.

Area Information

At the Saco beaches, when you go to the beach and have to go back for lunch, etc., you will not need to bring your blanket or chairs back. No one will touch them when you’re gone. It’s that type of beach and areas catering to families and are great for little kids. Families return here year after year for vacations.

From Ferry Beach in Saco it’s a short walk to Camp Ellis where the Saco River meets the ocean. There is great fishing in both areas. Old Orchard for the famous pier, shops & amusements is only 3 miles away.

There is a bike path from this area to the Old Orchard line. This is a great central location and a community which caters to families, unspoiled by high rises.

Ferry Beach State Park is a short distance away at Ferry Beach with trails to walk

Camp Ellis is a "Fishing Village" area….now dotted with newly-remodeled. Located where the Saco River joins the ocean with a mile-long jetty in the canal. The dock is open year round, is still an active fishing area for commercial lobstermen & fishermen. You can go over to the dock and watch both fishing vessels and pleasure boats. Whale watching, paragliding & fishing charters operate out of the docks in Camp Ellis.

Saco & Old Orchard exits are #36 on the Maine Turnpike and are half way between Kittery & Freeport for outlet shopping; 20 minutes to South Portland to a major mall and 20 minutes to Portland. There are also many shops along Rte. 1 for antique stuff between Wells & Scarborough. The Old Port in Portland is at the waterfront with shops, 25 minute ride. We’re about 1-1/2 hours or so from the Boston area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:Can I bring my 4-legged friend?

A:Yes, dogs are permitted. Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be leashed and of course "picked up" after. Home has large chain link fence. Yard must be kept clean at all times as children do play in this yard.

Q:How far is it to the beach?

A:Just walk down Fairhaven Ave. for beach access. Will take a half minute or so.

Q:What do I need to bring on vacation?

A:You need sheets, towels, beach chairs, paper goods and soaps. All else is at the house you'll need for your use.

Q:Listing says sleeps 5 but only 2 bedrooms?

A:Owner has a cot on the enclosed front porch. Room to set up there and if you have 6, bring along an air mattress. (more for the kids). With cot will sleep 5.
