Description of the Saco vacation home rental

Architect designed and built luxurious beach house located in lovely southern Maine. This house is located at one of the few beautiful sand beaches in Maine - Ferry Beach.

Camp Ellis restaurants and Marina are within walking distance. A very short walk is Ferry Beach State Park (117 acres). Great for walks through one of the best Tupelo Swamps in New England. Raised wooden walkways through huge blueberry bushes are one of the best kept secrets on this lovely beach community. Ocean Park, Kinney Shores, Old Orchard Beach, Portland and LL Bean are also very close.

20 minutes to Portland Maine. 1.5 hours from Boston. 5 hours from NYC.

Area Information

This house is located at the "private" end of Ferry Beach in the sense that there is no public parking and parking along the streets is prohibited. You can walk for miles along this sandy and scenic beach. Many attractions are just a short drive away but several hyper-local places are a very short walk from this house. You can grab breakfast, lobsters, ice cream or household items at the Camp Ellis General Store 0.5 miles away.

Don't feel like cooking or driving? Then just walk to Huot's or Wormwoods in Camp Ellis for exceptional seafood and very friendly staff and eat with the locals.

Are you a city person and need fine dining? Then make reservations at Street&Co, Fore Street, The Salt Exchange or may others in Portland a short drive away.

Want the freshest lobster? Then contact Dean "The Fishin' Optician" in Camp Ellis.

Kids need sugar after dinner? Great idea, then head to the General Store (0.5 miles) in Camp Ellis or Garside's (2 miles) on Ferry Road.

Kids need to get their ya-yas out? Bring them to the Funtown/Splashtown or Palace Playland.

Well maintained, modern house steps from the beach

My family and I enjoyed this house for ten days in October. We wanted to rent a nice house that was close to the ocean. Its a well decorated, tri-level with great balconies and excellent views of the ocean. The house is 'turnkey' in that they provide linens, silverware, plateware, condiments, etc. Its nice not having to think about that kind of stuff. The bathrooms are modern with good water pressure, the heaters work (although its a little tricky to balance the temperature on all 3 floors), washer and dryers are in great condition and so is the dishwasher. The entire kitchen is updated and nice. The only complaint I had was the early morning noise the kids camp made across the street on some days - but it was a good excuse to get up early and walk to the beach. The house is just a one minute walk to the shore. We enjoyed sleeping to the sound of crashing waves each night. We really enjoyed the house and would return again if it was available.

70th Birthday at Ferry Beach

September 30, 2012

4 " young girls" rented Mike Wiley's Great Beach house at Ferry Beach in Maine to celebrate our "70th" birthday. The house is terrific and well stocked with just about any appliance you need.. Has great views from all rooms and being able to take a shower and watch the waves was a real treat. The house is a short walk across the road to the cleanest beach I have ever seen. The sun rises were terrific. 2 of us walked 4 miles on the beach every morning and took pictures of the sun when it rose and then walked it again at night. I strongly recommend this house to all . There is plenty of room and alot of stairs to climb but worth every step.

Great house in excellent location

We have rented this house several times over the last few years and have had a great time each time. House is always clean and well prepared, the kitchen is well equipped and very functional. The beach is right near by, you are in a quiet location but close to lot's of great southern Maine activities. The view from both decks is spectacular.

Great house and location

We spent a week there in August 2009 and highly recommend it. Wonderful house - very well equipped and comfortable, with splendid views. The beach was lovely for small kids as well as adults. Very quiet and family friendly. Kayaking on the Saco river was excellent, and Portland definitely worth a visit.
