"Your photos on the internet don't do Hirondelle Farm justice. The photos show a lovely cottage, but we arrived to find a beautiful home, lovingly restored by Doreen & Dave. We have had a very comfortable stay, and the children had a wonderful time in the garden and pool. Thank you for all the little touches: nice wine in the fridge, flowers on the table, plus all the books CDs and DVDs.
This area of France is very beautiful and full of things to do and places to explore .... we will definitely come back. Merci bien pour votre hospitalité!"

"We came in search of peace and relaxation and we certainly found it here in your beautiful gite. It truly is a home from home where we received a lovely warm welcome from Doreen and Dave. This is certainly the best gite we have ever stayed in, in France. A clever and beautiful restoration. Congratulations Doreen & Dave on your achievement. We wish you every success with the work you are doing on your own house. Thank you also for providing perfect weather. We also wish future holiday makers here as good a time as we have had."

"The gite has offered the perfect relaxing retreat - with the option of loads to do in the surrounding area. The renovation work is fantastic and tastefully done. All credit to Doreen and Dave for what they've achieved and for being the sort of hosts who let you get on with the holiday in privacy but are there, if required, to impart valuable and often amusing local knowledge. We look forward to visiting again."

"What can we say? The past week has been super. The FarmHouse provided a good base for us to return to every evening. Both Dave & Doreen have thought of everything. There's not one thing you'll want for in this FarmHouse. All the amenities are here. A picturesque homestead, complemented with cornfields and sunflower fields and a calmness that refreshes the mind, body and soul. Thank you!"

"A wonderful gite, really well equipped in lovely surroundings. The local French are great and really helpful with the language, which is just as well as we only know three words!! We've had two packed weeks with plenty to do, visiting the local market and the lakes, and the Atlantique shopping centre in Nantes, a must for all you shoppers! "It is with regret that we come to the end of a relaxing week. The gite has been a wonderful oasis of calm and rest, set in beautiful countryside that we have only begun to explore. Coming back in the evening to sit by a blazing log fire has been really enjoyed and appreciated! We should certainly hope to coma back for further visits!"
Kate, Mark & Sophie Gill of Hampshire

"Our first family holiday and probably going to be one of the best. Angers and the Lake at Voireau were lovely. Doreen and Dave made it a "home from home" and couldn't have made it any better.

(Sophie having a bath in the Stable sink!)
P.S. Thanks for the night of babysitting - one night off is a real treat. A Bientôt. See you soon."
Cabby, Roni, Ian, Joe and Archie Luxford of Surrey
"Another wonderful stay at Hirondelle Farm. Weather not too great but Dave & Doreen's hospitality care and fun ensured a great time was had by all! You cannot help but marvel at the exceptional craftsmanship of Dave's work - the FarmHouse is absolutely beautiful. The perfect French holiday for all families - we will be back again soon! (If they'll have us ....!!)"
Matthew & Greg Thompson of Nottingham
(aged 13 and 9-10 whilst at Chateaubriant)

"Thank you for a superb week, we have had an excellent time. We have had an action packed week, going on the bikes to playing badminton in the garden. Thank you once again, it was superb"
Bob and Anita Thompson of Nottingham

"We've had a brilliant week. Thank you for arranging the wonderful weather. We were somewhat relieved when, due to a risk of fire (because of the hot weather), Bob's BBQ skills were not put into practice!! Seriously though, thank you so much to Dave & Doreen for being such perfect hosts and allowing us to enjoy your beautiful gite. The peace and quiet has been wonderful - an opportunity to chill out.
To anyone else reading this - you must try L'Amazone for a memorable meal. What a great week."
Leonora, Richard, Elke and Amelia (11 months) of Oxford

"What a fantastic place! it looks like we are joining a long queue of people planning a return visit. definitely the best gite we've ever stayed in, every need catered for.

"Well, well, well, did we have fun. Came here for a quiet break and got more than we bargained for. Local places brilliant and cottage was fabulous. Wine very cheap and might sink the boat on the way home. Great holiday, will return, thanks to Doreen & Dave - good laugh." (Stephen)
"I will bring my cello next time for a soiree of wine-drowned music making. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!" (Rosie)
"Doreen and Dave had a dream, not many people make it happen. Well done, it's truly a success" (Janna)

Mairead, Noel & Holly of Dublin
"We've all had a wonderful stay in this lovely gite, both clean and well equipped - everything you would need "Home away from home". We look forward to returning, many thanks."
Alan & Mel Grant of Fareham
"Words cannot express what a beautiful and peaceful gite Dave & Doreen have created - we can only reiterate what has been written before. Dave & Doreen are brilliant hosts who have ensured that our stay has been perfect - they have a wicked sense of humour, and they drink all your wine! Excellent shopping and cheap wine, next time bring a trailer!! A truly relaxing and wonderful release - you have done us proud."
The text below was received in an email from the Thompson family of Nottingham who had stayed with us for one week and had arranged to go to another gite, with a swimming pool, for the second week of their holiday. (We have since installed a pool surrounded by timber decking in the FarmHouse garden)
"Well, what a second week! Biggest mistake out, not stopping 2 weeks with you. Our second accommodation was absolutely filthy, including the much looked forward to swimming pool. The property was so disgusting we made the decision to leave within hours of arriving. Unfortunately, we could not find a hotel for the night, and ended up sleeping in the car!! All the relaxation we'd benefited from with yourselves, was undone in a matter of hours.

It is such a shame that the quality of accommodation available for the second week was not a patch on your gites (possibly a hard act to follow)."
