Make yourself at home at Gingerbread House! The cheery kitchen is stocked with coffee, spices and bakers basics. There are three comfy, quilt covered beds and living/dining areas furnished for homey comfort. Enjoy books, movies and CD's, play games at the dining room game table or walk a few blocks to downtown shops, cafes and the river. The private back patio is a shady haven for coffee or a barbeque picnic. Ski at nearby Monarch Mountain– a 25 minute drive, and return to relax in the Salida Hotsprings Pool or one of the other 4 hot springs in the area. Swing and play Frisbee in the park across the street or walk a block to the library for high speed internet. It's convenient and comfortable for a couple, a family or group of friends wanting to be part of the neighborhood in this friendly town.

Your well-behaved small dog is welcome. I use "small" because the yard is fully fenced but the fence is only 3-1/2 feet high.Cable TV is present. Three bedrooms and 1 full bath. Sleeps 6 maximum.Call and ask about available dates and rates for the "Gingerbread House"

Area Description

Salida, Colorado, is a small historic town nestled in a valley surrounded by high mountain peaks. The Arkansas River is a short walk from the house and there you will find some of the finest Kayaking and Whitewater rafting in the country. Nearby is a premier singletrack bike trail known as the Monarch Crest Trail. Hikers flock to the valley to hike the many Fourteeners (mountain peaks over 14,000 feet high) that ring Salida. Fly fishing is world class from the banks of the Arkansas or from a guided raft.
Salida has been listed as "Top 100 Small Art Towns," "Top 10 Places to Retire," and "Top 10 Outdoor Recreation Towns". Lots of restaurants, art galleries and boutique shopping. Quaint national historic downtown district. See reminders of our railroad, mining and agriculture history. Salida offers small-town friendliness with only two stop lights. World-class mountain biking, mountain hiking,climbing, fishing, kayaking, Ski Monarch (just 25 minutes away), snowshoe, cross country.
