Condo in Salinas

Very nice place and well furnished, everything that you need to get by. It is a great location as it is only a little ways from the beach and there is a grocery store close by. The electricity is expensive as we were told $10-$15.00 for the week and when we came to check out they told us it was $30.00 other than that there were no supprises. Nice place I would stay there again.

The condo was new and still needed a few items to make the stay more comfortable. They were in the process of replacing the window airconditioner in the 2nd bedroom so it was very hot. We went out and bought extra toilet paper and a bath map and washcloth. There was no bar to hang any clothes in either clost and we only had 2 forks. A toaster would have been a nice addition as well. Great location and a super value for the price. Would definately stay here again.

Simple, clean condo

This condo is clean, simple, and well located. The balcony has a nice view. The road is a bit noisy at times but not nearly as busy as the Malecon. The building is quite secure. Enjoyed our stay in Salinas and would rent this unit/ building again.

Good for the price

I have stayed here with my wife and our cat for one week in low season. Apartment was bit different from photos here, but it was in the same building (i guess, owner really owns few apartments there). Apartment is big and nicely furnished, building has good security (a guard, electronic keys and video surveillance everywhere). Two conditioners made pretty good climate inside. Building does not have pool or a gym (though I think, such apartment will cost significantly more), that's only disadvantage of it. Others cons are more about the location. Beach near the yacht-club is not very good, you need to walk for 5-10 minutes to reach clearer water (maybe in high season bad smell from the yachts is being dispersed more actively, though). There is some traffic in the street above, our apartment was on 4th floor, and conditioners are wall-mounted (not split-system), so we have heard everything clearly. Not a big concern for me, but my wife's sleep is very subtle, and she was waking up because of that noise sometimes. Maybe we just have lived too long in quiet and silent separate house in San Rafael, i don't know :)

Enjoying sunsets off the beaten path

June 4, 2012

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our four days at the condo over the Memorial Day weekend. The condo is fully equipped with everything we wanted and the view of the beach is stunning. We particularly liked having two TVs as my partner likes Spanish language programs and I prefer English. Liliam also set up the transport from the Guayaquil airport for us by private car. My principal advice is that condo users who do the same make a supermarket stop in Guayaquil to stock up on food before heading for the beach. There are no stores in the immediate area, through there is an excellent restaurant on the beach in front of the condo. The private villas in front of the condo -- an area not available no non-members such as us -- has an amphitheater where there are nightly shows. For us, this was an added treat to be able to watch the rehearsals and nightly performances from our balcony window. The dance troop is quite professional. Though this might not be everyone's ideal, the shows wrap up relatively early and the sound levels tolerable if you'd rather not listen in. The support staff were friendly and helpful, and for us the location was vastly preferable to the typical beach tourist trap Montenita about an hour and a half up the beach by bus. This is a place for relaxing poolside, taking strolls along the beach and enjoying the beautiful sunsets. I would expect to rent this condo again when I next visit Ecuador. The only things that would have made the stay even better would have been an updated collection of DVDS (there were a few but they were for the most part very old titles) and a new toaster as the one in the condo does not stay pushed down without manual assistance. But these were minor discomforts. The good news is that the wireless internet works very well, and faster than I had expects at such an off the beaten path location

Salinas in the off-season

This apartment is indeed the most secure building and rooms I have ever stayed in. It is specious and has many items for living, but non-stick utensils would be a big plus. It tended to have a musty smell, probably from not being open a lot due to the humid weather. It was clean, but the shower drain took and incredibly long time to drain water. The major appliances worked quite well and were very satisfactory. The beds were comfortable, a little soft for me though. Only 1 air conditioner in the apartment, in one bedroom. Even with the veranda door open, a fan was needed to keep reasonalbly comfortable. A ceiling fan in the living room would help a lot! The person renting it, Elizabeth and her husband David were fantastic people and took care of problems when notified very quickly. They were also quite helpful in assisting in further transportation needs and information about Salinas. Being the off-season, Salinas for me was much to quiet, and I could not find things to keep me occupied. I was only 1 block from the ocean and many restaurants, which was very handy and in a great neighborhood. This city is extremely safe, and I felt comfortable walking at most anytime of day or night. There is a nice supermarket 1 or 2 blocks away, and a very large supermarket a $3 taxi or $.25 bus ride away. The bus stops in front of the building. The people of the city are friendly and helpful, and all in all, Salinas is a nice, quiet city.
