The streets of San Remo are lined with polished world-class hotels, exotic gardens, and seaside promenades. Long a haven for European aristocracy, San Remo is located on the western rim of the Italian Riviera, about 30 miles east of Nice, France.
The old town area has a rich mediaeval heritage.
The modified cathedral of San Siro originally dates back to the thirteenth century. The interior preserves a Crucifix by Maragliano and a canvas by Pancalino showing San Siro surrounded by other saints.
The single-nave sanctuary of the Madonna della Costa goes back to the seventeenth century. Here you can admire frescoes by Giacomo Antonio Boni and a painting from the Barnaba da Modena School (late fourteenth century) as well as paintings by Domenico Fiasella.
One of the most popular sights in San Remo is the famous Municipal Casino, housed in an art nouveau building.

"I want to document how much Olga and I enjoyed our stay at Castello Devachan.
As well you know, I have a rather extensive knowledge of the Castello, visually, from having created the painting for you relating to the 1920 League of Nations' conference there, after World War I.
I was not prepared, however, for the beauty of the Castello and the wonderful accommodations your place provided.
Olga and I thoroughly enjoyed the facilities, the patio and garden, the magnificent views from the dining room and patio, and the feeling of total privacy one experienced.
One warning to all who stay there....The master bedroom is so very conducive to sleep, one can miss most of the day!!
Total luxury and quiet.
As this was our first visit to San Remo (not, of course to Italy), we both fell in love with the city. It had everything and was not overwhelming.
The proximity to other towns and to Genova was a definite plus.
As you are aware, Olga and I travel quite a bit, staying in France for a month, and Italy for a month, every year as well as the USA from Hawaii to Alaska.
We both agree that Castello Devachan (actually, your place therein) was one of our favorite stops. We will return!!!

"We had a wonderful time at the Castello. The apartment was set up with all we needed and when we had any questions or issues, the property manager was always available. The terrazzo and garden are stunning and added extra living space that was great for the children. The Castello grounds are beautiful and the children enjoyed exploring them all ... from the pool to the tennis court and beyond, even making some friends along the way despite the language barrier! The center of town is not far from the Castello, though I would recommend having a car for anyone who stays as it can get tiring going up the windy and steep hills ... we had a car and it was tremendously helpful. I highly recommend this unit and hope to return soon!" Rosario - Chicago IL - Sep06
"We had a wonderful stay in San Remo!
Allesandro took good care of us, and the driver he found, Livio Faraldi, was great. He took us on two day trips in Italy - the Apricale loop and to the Cinque Terre, two highlights of the holiday.
The apartment was comfortable and we enjoyed the patio and view much.
The Castello is a bit farther from the train station and town centre than we expected, causing more taxi fares than we expected, but a small price to pay for having a lovely home base.
In all, we were very pleased and had a superb vacation.
It has been so lovely staying here. The apartment is charming and so convenient. We found Sanremo so easy to get from England.......We are still looking forward to exploring more of the city and enjoy the rest of the facilities provided in the Castello...swimming pool....tennis....the picturesque view from the terrace is of postcard quality! Thank you for making our relaxing stay so enjoyable. P Shaweewan - London SW14 -UK . 11/Sep/03
Superb apartment, even the shower impressed. Good access from the airport and a nice drive to such a characterful town. Even found it sample the delights of France, which is deceptively close by. Not enough time to do everything or sample the great cuisine of the area, so will have to come back .... 02/Sep/03 - P Hook - Peterborough UK
Great flat!Great setting & comfort! We enjoyed the golf at the local club and had fabulous fish in the restaurants in town. - Robert - Hounslow -Middx UK - 02/Aug/03
