Description of the Sandpoint vacation home rental
Explore the lake by kayak, canoe, sailboat or motorboat. "Hit it!" waterskiing, wakeboarding or inner tubing right outside your front door. Fish for small mouth bass and rainbow trout off the dock. Build sandcastles on the sandy beach or play croquet on the large, grassy lawn. Schweitzer Mountain is just 12 miles away for winter sports or for hiking, mountain biking and berry picking in the summer. Soak your cares away and enjoy the views in the new Hot Tub.
A wide variety of wildlife can be seen everyday on the property. Osprey's, Bald Eagles, deer, moose, river otters, loons, coots and an abundance of trout and bass.
The home itself was custom designed to reflect the natural beauty of the area and the special relationship the Kooetenai and Pend Oreille native Americans had with this region. Cedar, pine, hickory, granite, slate and large stones are used throughout. Designed by well known architect, Jon Saylor, The Point has separate "pavilions".
The Great Room Pavilion is spacious, yet intimate. Cedar, wood-beam ceilings soar to 24 feet, but the plush, comfortable furnishings keep conversations easy and familiar. Floor to ceiling windows give you the feeling of being surrounded by water. Listen to the lake lap outside as you recline in the sitting area and watch eagles and ospreys hunt for a fresh fish dinner.
A massive river stone fireplace anchors the Great room. Remarkable for its artistic "dry stack" masonry, it burns real wood with ease thanks to an instant gas start. Radiant heat slate floors spread warmth throughout the Great Room, kitchen, breezeway, and powder room.
The heart of any home is its kitchen. The Point is no exception. An immense gourmet workspace allows a commanding view of the Great Room, Lake and guests. Multiple chefs can work freely on the expansive granite counter tops while friends and family gather around the "U" shaped alder bar to watch the culinary action. Stainless appliances, warming drawer, a five burner gas range, a pot filler, and other amenities make the cooking fun and easy.
A true hub, from the kitchen you're just steps to the lawn, deck, breezeway, and media room. An informal dining area right next to the kitchen makes serving easy. Or in the summer dine al fresco on the covered deck with an outdoor ceiling fan to cool you off. The natural gas barbeque right outside the door is perfect for grilling.
The Breezeway Pavilion features an entire glass wall that lifts up and hides above a cedar ceiling -- all at the touch of button. Watch a thunderstorm roll in or walk out to the stone, amphitheatre steps that lead down to a flat, grassy lawn -- perfect for volleyball, croquet or horseshoes (all provided).
The Family Room Pavilion is that perfect escape room for kids and adults. It's stocked with games, kid toys, 52" HD TV, movie and stereo system. A built in window seat holds two additional twin beds for hanging out or sleeping.
The Sleeping Pavilions form a separate wing of the house. Accessed by a long, generous art corridor with deep, plush carpeting and capped off with a solid wood door, the bedrooms offer a serene escape from the rest of the house. This separation allows early and late risers to enjoy themselves without waking the household. ALL bedrooms have incredible lake views!
The Master Bedroom Pavilion offers a beautiful King size bed, luxury linens, private patio, and an adjoining "serenity" room filled with books and a desk. The Master Bath is luxurious with a Jacuzzi tub for 2, granite countertops, slate shower with 2 showerheads and a separate dressing area. Additional bedrooms offer a Queen maple sleigh bed, a double bunk room (4 Twins), a 3rd Guest room with Queen pillowtop, and 2 Twin beds in the Family Room Pavillion window seat. Sleeps 12 very spaciously and comfortable. The Point at Sandpoint. Where Dreams Become Memories!
Note: It's difficult to describe the unique beauty of this home, the area and the seasons you can experience here. Please see a photo slide show at the link noted on this page. Owner also has many photos of the home & area that can be emailed. Thank you.
Area Information
The lake caters to a wide variety of water activities: fishing, power boating, sailing, canoe/kayak, swimming. There is a large variety and assortment of hiking, mountain/road biking, downhill or cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling. The Festival at Sandpoint is a very large music festival. Sandpoint is also a stop on the famous International Selkirk Loop -- one of the most beautiful drives in the world!

Our second year at The Point! Words just cannot describe this location and home. I'm not kidding when I say that our family's BEST memories were made at Lake Pend O'Reille. We have traveled to many wonderful destinations, but our hearts just keep coming back to the lake. Thank you Kellee for your willingness to share something obviously so special to your family. We can't wait to come back next year! Until then we will be counting down the days.

Absolutely the best home anyone could rent. Everything possible was at your fingertips. We will definitely be back.
Owner Supplied Testimonials

"Better than France, better than our Florida vacations, better than Maine, better than all the others! We've been blessed with lots of vacation variety, but this was the most relaxing, beautiful vacation we've had. The house was even better than our wildest imagination, and the Lake Pend Oreille views were breath-taking. The pictures, though eye-popping, do not do justice to The Point. Kellee and Rob are terrific hosts...even had hot chocolate chip cookies there upon our arrival. They were so very gracious in sharing this fantastic get-away with our family. The people of Sandpoint made us welcome in their community warmly. The surrounding area is chock-full of activities for any interest. Thank you again, Kellee and Rob, for a relaxing, wonderful time in your home! The memories made in N. Idaho will be special to us the rest of our lives. This is one of those vacations we must repeat!" Stuart, Knoxville, TN - 30 day stay, September 8 - October 8, 2010
Guestbook Comment: "Your home is simply incredible! They say a child's laugh is a treasure to your heart, but to hear 4 teenagers laugh and play and WANT to be with their parents for a week -- well you have given us memories that will last a lifetime! Thank you so much! ~Angela from La Jolla, CA (July 1-July 8, 2011)
"Amazing lake home! Views from every room were sensational. We saw eagles every day and caught a rainbow trout off your dock. We'll definitely be back". July 2009
"I know you've heard it all before but it really is an absolutely exceptional property. Your home is so dignified and warm. Life is memories and our week here will never disappear. Thank you very much!"
"Fabulous! From the stunning architecture to the unbelievable lake views. A few favorite memories: getting pummeled on innertubes, boating over to the small town parade, drinking the best young merlot ever on the deck, barefoot kids on green lawns, cooking a gourmet dinner in the fabulous kitchen and awaking to the lapping lake outside our bedroom window. WOW!"
"Your spectacular home afforded us a 'primo' first experience in Northern Idaho. We do look forward to coming back - SOON!"
Thank you for a great ski weekend. Love your place - the 180 degree view of the lake is unbelievable. Skiing was great in 6" of new snow. We were very impressed with the wide range of tree skiing and challenging runs at Schweitzer. But then to come 'home' to heated floors, a crackling fireplace and a great dinner made the day perfect.
Thanks again! Keep Schweitzer a secret!
