Unique. lovely,one bedroom apartment directly on the sands of beautiful Viking Bay,in Broadstairs, Kent, Charles Dickens favourite holiday town. The flat is in Eagle House, a converted Adimaral's house, built in 1796, and within sight of Bleak House where Dickens conceived the famous novel of the same name. The apartment which is tastefully furnished and fully equipped, sleeps 2 - 4 people and is Several yards from the beach with private beach entrance, yet close to shops and restaurants. Broadstairs is an unspoiled beach town which came second in a recent contest for the best resort town in the UK. It is directly on sheltered Viking Bay with its lovely sea and cliff walks, close to a railway station and all amenities and within easy access of London and ferries to Europe. Eagle house backs on to a cliff and when inside the apartment it is as though the town does not exist, no noice, only the sound of sea and beach. A car is not necessary as pubs, restaurants, cinema and shops are all close by as are busses and trains. Fall asleep to the sound of the sea. For more details and photographs please email me. Area Description

Some historians say that the isle of Thanet in Kent, where Broadstairs is located, is where English history began. In 597 AD St. Augustine arrived in Thanet bringing Christianity to England. The Vikings and Romans landed in Thanet and there is a replica Viking ship close to Broadstairs and also Roman remains including castles and forts to visit. The medieval town of Canterbury with its magnificent cathedral is about half an hour away anc can be easily reached by train or bus. When Nelson won the war against Napoleon, Napoleon's flag, an Eagle was brought to the admiral house in Broadstairs as a symbol of victory, hence the name Eagle House. Because of its location, Broadstairs has a special micro climate which is more temperate than the rest of England and boasts more sunny days. The broadstairs area has 10 sandy beaches all in close proximity, 7 of which have been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, one of which is Viking Bay. Viking Bay has a lift during the summer months from the promenade to the beach. Broadstairs boasts lovely gardens along the promenade flanked by excellent restaurants, cafes, famous ice cream parlours. There is also a bandstand with concerts, dancing, etc. There are a wide variety of activities to keep both adults and children happy, including both walking and bus tours. Broadstair is a wonderful place for a holiday and Eagle House is the ideal location to enjoy that holiday.
