This was our first vacation rental ever. It will not be our last. This house & property is welcoming & beautiful. Our family gathering was wonderful. . The attention to detail perfect. The house welcomes you, the beds cradle you and the furniture is comfortable. Waking up each morning the garden invites you to stroll. I couldn't imagine a more perfect setting for reconnecting with people you love. Thank you, Jan for creating this place & sharing it with us.

We so enjoyed our family weekend get-a-way over Father's Day in this charming, comfortable and serene 1920 cottage. The kitchen was an amazing place to prep, cook and relax while also admiring the ouside gardens, fountain and the occasional special guests (little cotton tail bunnies). The entire experience was enchanting. We enjoyed riding the bicycles around the quiet and quaint neighborhood, sipping wine and BBQing on the patio and then slumbering in fine linens in the most comfortable beds for a restful nights nights sleep. My grandchildren enjoyed playing hide and seek along the side yard and ping pong. There was so much to do on the property that no one really wanted to leave. It was truly an amazing restful time. Thank you for sharing this well appointed comfortable home filled with history and antiques!

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay in your Beautiful Montecito Home! Everything was perfect, from the great location to the huge, beautifully furnished home. Each couple had their own private suite and bath, which made the accommodations perfect. The fresh picked Flowers in each room really made us feel special. The kitchen was a cooks dream! There was every amenity needed and great serving pieces to make each meal truly special. We enjoyed many afternoons and evenings on the patio having lunch, snacks and drinks. The screening room was awesome! We enjoyed some good shows on the large screen. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting with multiple couples, large families, Girls trip, etc., for a special treat to Montecito/Santa Barbara area.

We were in search for a Santa Barbara home close to the beach to accommodate a girls weekend away and we could not have found a more perfect home! From the gorgeous gardens out of every wing, to the ambiance of the back porch with the string lights and fireplace....the amazing kitchen and the coziest beds! The owner was so sweet and so welcoming, it felt like we were staying at a friends home! I can't wait to return with my family! :)

BEAUTIFUL CAPE COD COUNTRY INN IN MONTECITO
December 14, 2012
Absolutely charming country home in one of the most beautiful areas of Montecito. My husband, two golden retrievers and I spent 4 days here and everything was perfect. The home is personal and intimate - every nook and cranny is a surprise -- collections look as though they were lovingly placed over many years -- we felt as though we were guests in a 5 star Cape Cod country inn. Every room is bright and sunny, has a spectacular kitchen, music library, a film screening room with more than 100 movies, huge yard - is perfect for families, or romantic getaway. Close to Miramar beach, the Montecito Village, Biltmore Hotel and Butterfly Beach, the Wharf, restaurants, and 5 minutes to the center of Santa Barbara and State Street.. A wonderful experience. Recommend for anyone who wants to experience Montecito and Santa Barbara.

This home embraced our family for 5 nights with comfort, warmth, and charm. Starting with dog bowls set out for our dogs and ripening avocados for us and continuing with split wood for our fires and the morning paper, our family was allowed to meet in the middle and savor our Thanksgiving holiday. The open kitchen allowed for us all to cook together. While fantastic antique English pottery surrounds you, the serving dishes and plates are family practical and everything you could possibly need is there. With a fantastic collection of movies, we relaxed in the evenings in the home theater room. There is room to spread out, corners to be quiet, and couches to cozy up on. The neighborhood surrounding includes beautiful hikes, a dog friendly beach, and nice neighbors. The owners are accommodating and accessible. This home is simply a treasure! We hope to return!

I took my two grandchildren, ages 3 and 5, and my adult children to this wonderful home. When we arrived, my daughter and I both said, in unison, " it's like walking into a fairy tale. " This charming home surpassed all of our expectations, and they were high to begin with. The monstrous hydrangeas, the fragrance of flowers everywhere, and the exquisite gardens, were truly overwhelming. And all of this before we ever entered the home! There are so many wonderful touches, lovely antiques, and every area filled with a visual delight. There was so much thought and attention given to making this house a home, and you feel it everywhere. The children played " lawn ping pong", the men played basketball, and we all loved being greeted by the adorable bunnies each morning, even giving them Farmers Market carrots to keep them returning! My granddaughter and I picked fallen rose petals to sprinkle in her bathtub. The minute she saw the lovely pink "princess" bedroom, she begged me to let her sleep there! The ceiling stars that glowed softly in the dark were magical, makiing us all feel we were sleeping outside. Many wishes were made on those stars at night! Even the bedroom closets were decorated with charming accessories! I photographed everything, and ran out of memory on my iphone because i had to remember every detail! We grilled locally raised beef on the wonderful gas grill, and enjoyed s'mores outside in the evenings on the lovely lit patio. The kitchen had everything, and more, for wonderful family gatherings. The adjoining family area had comfortable seating with a tv for morning favorite shows for the little ones. The big screening room off the spacious master wing was pure delight for everyone, popcorn included! We all loved sleeping under down duvets on cool nights, especially being from Texas! I truly can't say enough about this most special home. My granddaughter cried the night before we left, and we all had teary eyes saying goodbye to our ten day dream holiday. Thank you, Jan, for all the special touches, the lovely flowers placed in every room, for your patience and guidance to make this time such a memorable and lovely memory. We hope to return someday soon!

This charming, spacious, gorgeous home was the perfect place for my mother, sister and bridesmaids to stay during our wedding weekend in Montecito. Owner Jan was a delight to work with throughout the process and was incredibly accommodating when it came to having our rehearsal dinner at her home the night before the wedding. As a huge fan of all things nautical, the nautical details throughout the home (i.e. painted anchor on the tile in one of the bathrooms, an entire boat-themed bedroom, etc.) left me swooning. My only regret is that I was unable to stay longer. I definitely hope to have an opportunity to return.

Loved, Loved Loved this house.....so charming, warm and room for everyone to find their own little quiet oasis when needed! Since we were in Santa Barbara for our daughter's wedding, finding a quiet place occasionally was just what we needed. Jan was so accommodating and helpful. We so enjoyed the media room, the ping pong, basketball and lovely gardens. We especially loved the extra touches like the linens (so soft), billowy comforters and flower arrangements in every room. We would definitely rent this house again. Thank you Jan!!!!

The South of France in Montecito
April 20, 2012
We were four women looking for a bit of heaven to surprise a friend who'd just turned 70. She's traveled, celebrated and been to some of the most wonderful places in the world, which made finding a dream house our goal. And this house was perfect. We didn't tell Sybil where we were heading, instead teasing her that this would be a rustic, outward bound type experience. "Bring tennis shoes," Marilyn emailed her prior to the trip, refusing to answer when she asked, "What for?" Our two cars, connected by smart phones, arrived in Montecito within moments of each other. We pulled up at the house, not sure what to expect. We'd seen pictures, but the reality (unlike online dates) exceeded our expectations. The kitchen/great room was not only enormous, but with the white cabinets, blue and yellow fabrics, pine hutch with Spoke blue plates and other accessories done in the French style made it inviting and exciting. That we'd hired a chef who would shop with us at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market prior to cooking with us in this totally user-friendly kitchen made it even more important. Half of the group chopped radishes and veined shrimp in the prep area while the others cut fava beans and cleaned artichokes at the dining table. We'd brought several bottles of California wine and were already into them while getting the meal ready. That was an extraordinary meal. Sybil was given the master/mistress bedroom, enormous with an equally oversized bathroom, large TV and jacuzzi. She invited us to share her room, but we were happy with our own accommodations. The house was quiet, peaceful and fabulous. We didn't hear if one of us went out for an early jog as the house was spacious and perfect for our needs. We didn't have a chance to cook or eat outdoors, but that would be an added plus, particularly given that the well manicured hedges and lawn create a spectacular setting. Nor did we get to use the bikes. Leather bound books, a magnificent collection of pottery and cookware, plenty of lights and ample sitting areas and extra rooms added to the luxurious feel. We never stopped admiring and appreciating where we were. The house allowed us to take an early morning walk to a nearby Montecito cafe for breakfast, passing other unusual estates along the way. In short, it was large. It did what we'd hoped, which was to provide a setting that would make this "chick trip" the best ever.
Spacious and Welcoming
April 4, 2012
We rented this place for parents, three adult couples (plus two newborns) who were in town for a wedding. The house is immaculate and seems to just keep going and going so everyone had their own space. Once you catch your breath from walking from front to back, the place feels cozy. The fireplace on the terrace was a great place to have a bottle of wine and we spent considerable time in the big kitchen. Needless to say rooms and beds were comfortable. Shot some hoops on the basketball court as well. Overall, this is a beautiful getaway.

"HEAVEN ON POMAR LANE"
August 27, 2011
Normally you begin a story at the beginning, but in this case, ours started before....Jan, the thoughtful owner of this dream home, sent the keys together with a lovely welcoming note card, the front of which was a reproduction of a beautiful painting of her home. On arrival, we were greeted with large bouquets of fresh flowers cut from the story book gardens around the home. The home was just as advertised adorned in French Country antiques and tasteful accessories reminiscent of Cape Cod. The spacious country kitchen was a favorite; plenty of room for our "chefs" to help with meal preparations. We enjoyed all or our meals on the adjoining terrace surrounded by hydrangeas, roses and many more fragrant flowers. A large standalone fireplace was the perfect place for S'mores, singing and quiet conversation. The children loved the basketball court and table tennis. We shot endless "hoops" and enjoyed every moment there. A highlight of this spacious paradise was the master suite with it's large walk-in shower, separate powder room and even a large comfortable home theater with loads of beautiful windows and French doors to view the meticulously maintained gardens on all sides of the house. Pomar Lane is nestled in the "Hedge Row" area of Montecito. Some of the hedge rows on either side of the winding lanes are at least 25 feet high. The beauty is impossible to describe... it must be experienced. And, it's just a short walk to a lovely Pacific beach. The children loved "Boogie Boarding" and making sand castles. We're already planning on our next visit to this coastal paradise. Thank you, Jan for an unforgettable vacation.

Beautiful amazing, great location!
August 22, 2011
A beautiful home, close to everything but private, perfect for our annual ladies' getaway. We were enchanted with the decor, the gardens, the outdoor fireplace (!), the game court, the fabulous "big screen"...everything. The house is within walking distance of Montecito downtown, but we spent 2 of our 3 evenings at the house. The kitchen has everything you need and then some, and we had marvelous fun cooking up our favorite recipes to share while catching up with each other. Close to Santa Barbara's State St shopping, the wharf, beach, museum, botanical gardens. Also the Casa de Herrero in Montecito is only about 1.5 miles away, a glimpse of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, gardens, and antique Spanish furniture. Thanks, Jan, for a great time. The extra touches you provided were wonderful. We hope to come back sometime!

Perfect House for a Family Christmas
January 5, 2011
My family, 5 adults and 4 grandchildren, spent a wonderful week in this absolutely charming & inviting home. The owners thought of everything including a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and lovely decorations throughout. The large, exceptionally well-equipped kitchen with a fire place, comfortable couches and dining table with a view of the beautiful gardens, was a perfect gathering place for the whole family. The sport court with a basketball hoop and ping pong table provided us with space for outdoor activity despite the rain. The location is perfect, just a few blocks from the ocean and hiking trails nearby. The photos don't do it justice. Stay here! You will love it! We didn't want to leave. Thank you, Jan. It was perfect.

My husband and I, and my sister and her husband, met in Santa Barbara to celebrate our anniversaries, and we stayed in this home. It is absolutely gorgeous, very romantic and incredibly charming. The pictures don't do it justice, and I know my husband and I plan to rent this home again some year. Thanks to Jan Stein, the owner, for all the beautiful flowers in the house to make us all feel so welcome.

Owner Supplied Testimonials
Thank you for sharing your beautiful house with us.
It couldn't have been more perfect (the flowers, amazing).
We had a wonderful stay and it was hard to leave such a beautiful setting.
Your gardens and house are beautiful!
We had a lovely visit to Santa Barbara and area.
Staying in your home was great. Very comfortable and had everything we needed.
The guys especially enjoyed the media room and large screen.
Thank you so much for letting us use your amazing vacation home. We have all been properly spoiled.
We have had such a wonderful stay in your magnificent home! It's been such a treat. We'll cherish our memories throughout next Fall and Winter at home!
We had such a marvelous time, I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed your home. It is just gorgeous. The only thing I would suggest is getting a hammock for the back yard, because honestly, we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful garden out there and loved watching the humming birds dance around your roses. Thank you so much for being so thoughtful and buying an extra bike and a fabulous set of knives. We loved riding through the neighborhood. We laughed our way through the streets, it was such fun. I swear we felt like we were in a lovely cottage somewhere in the south of France. Thanks again for everything and I don't know when, but I'll guarantee we will definitely be back again.
It truly worked out beyond what we could have imagined! Your photographs on the Internet did not do your home justice. Your home not only offers beauty, but comfort, relaxation, and a place that made all of us want to stay longer. We were able to easily serve 20 people dinner after the graduation and actually didn't go out for any meals one time... very rare when you are away from home. Another thing that was so nice is that I was going to buy flowers and put up small lights outside....and when I walked in and saw your beautiful arrangements throughout the house and lights on the outside fireplace, I was in awe of another perfect touch you had made. Amazing!
My daughter had 6 girlfriends come over, who are graduating next year, and they all want to rent your house as well as every year for their sorrority sister reunions. They were having such a wonderful time out on the patio that they didn't leave to go downtown until 11:30 that night...another testimonial to the setting. They were even going on and on about renting it for their weddings someday. Very dear! So to sum it up...yes everyone there would consider renting your home. I will also pass your information to others. Also having the projection screen was perfect for showing the photo slide show I made for my daughter.
Again, thank you for providing a place that was memorable for everyone!
