Beachtacular is the ONLY place to stay on StThomas

November 5, 2013

Beaachtacular (bldg E) is everything advertised and more. Open the sliding glass doors and step onto the sand. All the photos are up to date and exactly what the clean, well maintained condo looks like. No surprises. Fully stocked kitchen, air conditioning, two quite ceiling fans, two beach towels, lots of bathroom towels. Two flat screen TVs and brooms to sweep up the loose sand were dutifully used. Bernard (owner) was in close contact and kept in touch with us throughout the rental process. He gave us a lot of tips for the island. Laundry was in the marina building right behind bldg E, and was clean and a great benefit at $3.50 wash, $3.50 dry. Owner even provides laundry baskets. Mid week cleaning by Sonja was worth the price. We met her and she was nice and offered to help with anything we needed. The pool, 50 yards from the condo, was very clean and had beautiful views of the ocean just steps away. Snorkeling right out in front was incredible. Sapphire Beach has some of the best snorkeling on the island. You can rent gear for $10/day and the shop was very knowledgable about the snorkeling on the island. You couldn't be closer to Redhook (the place to be on the island), than the Sapphire Beach Resort 3 minute drive away. The East End is the place to stay. Ferry to St. John was right there and took 15 minutes. Foot ferry was $7 each way and left every hour on the hour till 11pm. Eat at XO. The service, food and prices were worth every penny. Caribbean Saloon had the best TVs in town, and excellent food & drinks. Duffy's outdoor Love Shack (where we went 3 times) had $2 taco Tuesday, dancing and free drinks for ladies on Wednesdays. Don't worry that it is in a parking lot, it's tons of fun! We would recommend renting a car. Driving on the left side of the road is not as bad as you think. We took a taxi to Redhook once and it was $10 (3 minute drive) each way. Open air bus is $1 but you don't know when it will arrive. You cannot walk on the roads. You can take a car to St. John for about $30 but the last car barge departs St. John for St. Thomas at 3:30pm (so we walked on) you can rent a jeep on the St. John side. Golf Course was 15 minutes away and was a great experience, we golfed 3 times. The service and food at the Golf Club was great. Megan's Bay (top 10 in the world) was just 5 minutes further and worth the trip for swimming and pickning (no snorkeling). If you go to Sapphire Beach Resort, stay in Building E!
