Reviews for this vacation condo rental in Sapphire Beach, St Thomas, Virgin Islands
Great Stay For Quiet Anniversary
October 10, 2014
First, this review is loooooong overdue. But our opinion and memories of Greg and Michelle's Sapphire Village condo have only gotten better with time. They have anticipated everything. I can remember no problems with anything of any great consequence. My wife and I were very comfortable and used the condo as a base for our travels. We went out a lot. Start by taking a taxi to the big grocery store and REALLY stocking up. You can walk to the Beach, and it's one of the best beaches by the way on St. Thomas. Highly recommend spending a few days at the St. John's beaches, and this condo is perfectly situated for that. The ferry to St. J's is only a very short safari bus ride away. Be ready though to take a taxi back. Safari down to Red Hook is easy, but taxi is a must to come back. Don't walk there! We were most taken by the balcony at the condo. The view was better than advertised, especially in the morning. Sunrises were an event to behold, and just sitting out there and enjoying the ocean air and the calm of it all was what we were after. We were particularly interested in the history of the islands, and sitting on the balcony, one could just imagine the pirates and shippers cutting through the channel right in front of you. We didn't have updated passports, and that was a bummer. Going to the British VIs are what appears to be an excellent trip. We couldn't go because no passport. There's plenty of fun though to be had if you don't have one. Another great feature of the condo is the boatyard just at the bottom of the hill. Sailboat tours, British VI tours, snorkeling tours etc leave from there. Very convenient. The bathroom is very nice in the condo and recently done over. The bed was more comfortable than our own bed at home (foam mattress top is really nice to sleep on). I could list a few minor details to nitpick, but honestly I'm sure that Greg and Michelle have already fixed them. They are extremely attentive to their condo, and seem to be of the mind to make constant improvements. Oh yea, leave your snorkeling and beach gear at home. They have enough for an army right in the closet. Overall, the complex is very well-taken care of, very safe and nicely attended to. However, you are not in the heart of it all. It's a little removed from the action. However, that is exactly what we wanted. We want to go back again to the island, and we will only stay here if we do. No need to look any further.
Seth and Wilel - Thank you so much for taking the time to submit such a thorough (and flattering!) review. I really appreciate it. Its nice to be recognized for the stuff we do that is above and beyond -- because we really do take pride in our unit and we want the experience to surpass our guests' expectations. I do hope you'll return to see the fantastic renovation we just completed. Now the whole place is just as beautiful as the bathroom! I'll post some pictures shortly.

Condo has everything you need. Huge bedroom. Bathroom has fabulous shower. Balcony has excellent view of marina. Short walk to the beach, just load up the cooler with drinks and snacks. Snorkel gear was a huge bonus as the beach is amazing. Beach toys available at dive shop, even Bocci balls. No problem getting a chair however it was low season. Trees everywhere for shade. Lots of iguanas and ducks everywhere! They won't bother you unless you feed them. Pool very near by. Can bring your own drinks and sit by the pool. Close enough to run back and forth if you need to. Would recommend a car to visit other beaches and get groceries. Limited and pricey for groceries in Red Hook. Go to Pueblo in town, worth the drive. Also by the time you spend money on cabs you can rent a car for not much more per day. I do not recommend budget car (on site). We rented from E-Z car rental. Andre will give you a tour/lesson to drive on the island. We called it the "scared straight tour" but it was helpful. Linquest beach is outstanding. Megans beach is also a must.Lots of mangrove trees for shelter. If going when cruise ships are in it is busy, however you can wander down away from the crowds. Boat excursions are available right from the marina. Fishing and islands trips all available. Every night you can watch boats come in and even purchase the fresh fish. We booked with Captain Adam "Reel Livin" boat name. Went fishing and snorkeling, they cater to whatever you prefer to do. Ferry is very close. Many island access options. Safari is good from condo to red hook ($1 pp) however you will need a cab to get back at night and they will try and charge $5 a person however we paid $10 for the three of us the couple times we used the service. Red Hook is minutes away however I do not recommend walking back to the condo from red hook at night. The road is too dangerous. Dinner is great at Duffys. Food and happy hour specials vary so always check to see what they have going on. Bolongo Bay is very nice.Short drive.Iggys Beach Bar had the best burgers and very reasonable. Fun place, beautiful beach (Sapphire better though). Overall would recommend this condo for location, quality, amenities and the beach is 5 star. Owner was excellent. Quick to respond. Great vacation and lots of friendly people. If you want a great meal in Charlotte ("in town") you must go to Geengos. You will love it!

My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to go to St Thomas and even luckier to be able to stay at Sappire Village. The first thing you see when you walk in the door is the truly amazing view, you cant help but to run straight out to the deck and take it in. The beach is so close that you can see and hear the waves from the condo if your listing closely. The bar and grill is about 20 seconds walking distance and has some of the best food that i had on the entire island and the nicest people as well. One of the first things we did was go get something to drink during their happy hour which they had everyday ;) and then we went to lay down by the beach. There was absolutely no body there, and it was like that pretty much every time we went after that too, there were also chairs everywhere down there to lounge on which was nice. Besides the beach and the pool, the condo was defiantly the next best place to lounge at. The air conditioning was a life saver and the couches were huge. The bathroom was remolded, and defiantly nicer than my bathroom at home so I couldn't have ask for anything more! The bed was so comfortable if I wasn't on a tropical island it would have been impossible to get out of in the mornings. I would defiantly recommend this rental to anyone who wants to feel truly taken care of. Everything is so convenient you barely have to leave the complex and still get an amazing St Thomas experience. We LOOVED everything!! And will be back!! -Jessica and Cory

I couldn't imagine anywhere else I would rather be! St. Thomas is nothing short of a dream, and Michelle and Greg's condo was the icing on the cake! A two-minute walk to beach and 2 big steps to the pool and pool bar: the condo was in the perfect location! The beautiful view from our own private balcony was unbeatable and the condo itself was equally as nice. The recently remodeled bathroom vanity area is gorgeous and as spacious as the rest of the unit. All four of us fit very comfortably and had everything we needed right there- thank you for the snorkeling gear! Sapphire village is in the perfect location on the island: so close to the grocery, nightlife, restaurants, and copious bright blue, beautiful, quiet beaches for relaxing and enjoying the sunshine! If you're thinking about going to St. Thomas and you've found Sapphire 211 available... You've hit the jackpot! I'm just counting down the days until I can go back. Thank you for providing such a wonderful home away from home.

My close girlfriends and I went on vacation to St. Thomas for our graduation trip. We stayed here and had the most wonderful time. This room has a great view of the ocean. There is a great pool and bar located right next to the complex with welcoming service. The complex is a short walk to the beautiful beach and the marina where you can take all sorts of day boating/snorkeling trips. Downtown is only a few miles away with great shopping, food, and night life. My friends and I had a great time!

I have been to numerous places in the Caribbean (Bahamas, Jamaica, Cayman Islands) but nothing compares to St. Thomas and this Sapphire Village vacation home. The property is a dollar cab ride away from Red Hook, which has phenomenal restaurants and a great night-life, and it's a 5 minute walk from exquisite beaches with volleyball courts and oceanside restaurants. Any type of day excursions (we went on a snorkel trip to St. John) leaves from the marina, which is also a five minute walk away, so there's no stress of trying to find the location or pay for a cab. The on-site staff was helpful and friendly and thoroughly answered any questions we had, but also offered excellent suggestions of things to do. The vacation home itself was extremely comfortable and had all the amenities I could ask for. I especially enjoyed the newly renovated bathroom, the balcony overlooking the ocean with views of St. John, and the extensive book collection. So if you're looking for night-life and adventure trips or just want to relax beachside or curl up with a book on the balcony, this property has it all. I would definitely recommend this vacation spot to all my friends and family and hope to make it back soon!!
Thanks, Jordyn. You are the first person to comment on the book collection. Yes, we have a lot! People can just take a book off the shelf, read it at the beach or pool (my FAVORITE relaxing past time), and take it with them if they don't finish it, with no feelings of guilt. We encourage it!. Yes, we have THAT many :)
Such a Beautiful Place!

This was the best location right on Sapphire Beach! It was well furnished, very clean. It was just steps from the Sapphire Grill and pool. I could hear the music in the evening. I would recommend Michelle and Greg's condo to anyone wanting to stay at Sapphire Beach!

Fantastic views of the marina and beach. Quiet, clean and comfy. Close to shopping, restaurants, banks, etc. Unit is about 50 feet from the resort pool. Locals and staff are friendly and helpful. Needless to say, I would go back. If you're looking for a relaxing tropical get away, this is it!

LOVED LOVED LOVED everything about this rental. Gorgeous property with lots flowering plants and trees where you can take pics. My fiance and I loved the balcony and it's view of Sapphire, even the little cutout window nook. It's RIGHT next to the pool, though we didn't bother to since we preferred the beach. Air conditioning! Thank God! Trust me. Not every Caribbean rental property has A.C. Breakfast and bars on site just a walk away, and if you get bored, take your sweetie down to the beach at night. Sit by the water on the beach loungers and listen to the waves crash just feet away. We did that for hours. Night Life/ Red Hook only minutes away if you're driving or if you go out and catch public transportation. Totally worth it. Awesome stay. Will absolutely stay there again next time.

We have been renting this unit for over 10 years ,and we love it. The view is the best ,we believe, in the whole complex. We were renters to Ms Elise and we have met the new owners Greg and Michelle, they are just as committed as Elise was to seeing that are stay was perfect. I believe we were there first renters since they took over ownership. Location is perfect for a wonderful vacation, perfect beaches ,near by restaurants and close access to the ferry port for easy trips to St.John or the BVI.and the marina at Sapphire, for day sails. Can,t wait until we return visit booked for Dec.2012

Best Vacation Ever!

Sapphire village is definetly the most fun, affordable, relaxing quiet and beautiful place to stay on St. Thomas--in my opinion! The beach is just steps away and has the best snokeling around. We saw a sting ray right off the beach as well as many varieties of tropical fish. Red Hook is approx a mile away and has great restaraunts, night life, and a ferry to St. Johns. Red Hook Dive Shop also has amazing diving excursions and the owners and staff were awesome! This vacation was the best value for the money and we would highly recommend staying at Michelle and Greg's condo. It has some of the best views in the whole complex!
I thought I'd share a Thank You card I just received in the mail (April 7, 2013) from a guest who just visited.
"Dear Greg and Michelle,
We'd like to thank you so much for sharing your St. Thomas condo with us. It was such a perfect location! It was so nice to stay put in one place. Cruises just don't allow that to happen. We so enjoyed the beaches and took on island tours, and of course relaxed at the pool. We've traveled a lot and this trip rates up at the top. Thanks again so much. We'd sure like to go back one day! Fondly, Jim and Kathy"
