Description of the Savary Island vacation cottage rental

A special place !!.WARM SUN & SANDY BEACH Savary Island which is an eco-friendly paradise, located between Campbell River [famous for salmon fishing] and Lund[ famous for kayaking] just south of Desolation Sound [famous for yachting].! We are off the grid, no wires just trees. This is paradise, this is the place you come to, to relax and enjoy nature at it's finest moment. Warm water invites you to come in and enjoy it's pristine aqua marine color with sandy bottom. Development on the island, has been kept to a minimun. The island is a migratory stop for birds, and home to Bald Eagles & plenty of Island Deer. Weekly rentals available Sunday to Sunday. High season $1400. CDN per week. Shoulder season $1000.CDN per week. These rates include bottled drinking water, bed linen, and cleaning fee. Bring your own towells. The cottage is an open post and beam design with five patio doors facing the ocean. There is a huge sundeck which captures the sun most of the day, and offers stunning ocean views. Inside the cottage, a 10' kitchen bar spanned between 2 Cedar poles is the focal point; the kitchen is well equiped, with a propane fridge and propane stovetop, ceramic dinnerware and plenty of glassware and cutlery. There is a large three piece bathroom, with walk-in shower with on-comand hot water, it is lcoated behind the kitchen and between the 2 bedrooms. There is also an outdoor shower on the sundeck for a cool cleanup after a day on the beach. Rentals are available starting in May. May is "crab month" as there are plenty of Dungeness crab available. June is "prawn month" as the spot prawn season is upon us. You can purchase super fresh prawns, right off the boat daily at Lund & Savary wharfs during the June/July season. July, August and September are fabulous weather months, lots of great beach time to be had! And we have a rowboat, two sit-aboard kyaks and two mountain bikes for you to enjoy while exploring this paradise.Flights available via float plane to Savary. Area Information

The surrounding area offers many sights and islands.Eco tours of Desolation Sound are available You can see a dozen islands from our sundeck. Ideal area for kayaking, diving, fishing, boating and swimming. Perfect island for long walks on the beach, as you can literally walk around the entire island. It takes all day to fully to explore. The closest town on the mainland is Lund B.C. where you will find the water taxi to Savary Island. The water taxi takes about ten minutes. Very friendly locals. We provide you with all the contact numbers you will need for a smooth trip, including car valet service, water taxi, land taxi, ferry schedules, maps,list of what to bring, etc. We also have a new 2 bedroom guest cottage "Giggling Prawn", located just across the road. Inquiries welcome. The rate is $1000. per week.

Other Fees: Car parking is available at Lund, see Dave's Parking on your left. The Water taxi is $12.00 per person each way to and from the Island. There are extra charges for bikes and kayaks. We have 2 mountain bikes and two kayaks at the cottage available for you to use. The "Land Taxi" (it's a 3/4 ton pickup truck, book this through Lund Water Taxi) to and from "Talking Raven" (at 1404 Savary Island Road) and the wharf is $22.00.

Other Vacation Rental Amenities

High bank, waterfront trail in front of the cottage leads to the Beach with access to the largest oyster beach on Savary, and clams are also plentiful! (We have two top sider kayaks,perfect for the warm calm waters of Savary , life jackets are in the cottage, crab trap is on the trail near to the beach) you must have a valid BC salt water fishing licence to participate in the abundance of seafood available, including clams, oysters, crabs, and shrimp. The Sutherland beach trail (it's an amazing feat of engineering down a sand cliff), is 2 blocks away providing access to the South Beach area. Many other walking trails to North and South side beaches are nearby.

awesome view

We loved our stay at this cabin. It has an awesome view from the large deck. A somewhat treacherous path right at the foot of the deck leads you to the ocean. Great swimming during high tide. The cabin was charming. We enjoyed the bikes, row boat and propane fire pit on the deck, where we roasted marshmallows and gazed at the stars. A great family vacation. We loved Savary Island and will make it an annual summer vacation.

A total view of Desolation Sound from a large deck. Lovely facilities. Hate to give glowing reports or we'll not get accommodation there next year! Really lovely. All the bells and whistles from row boat to kayaks to great bikes. Fishing rods, crab traps and more.

Really enjoyed our stay. House is very well equipped, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The deck is great and the view is spectacular. Very well situated and close to several beaches including the one right in front of the house. The bikes and kayaks were enjoyed by the whole family. Highly recommended for a couple or family wanting a very relaxed getaway in a beautiful, natural environment.

breathtaking

If you love the ocean, this is the perfect get away. An amazing view, easy beach access straight down from the cabin, clean, lovely cabin with tasteful touches throughout, on an island straight from the tropics with sandy beaches and warm water! Our family had a fabulous vacation here and hope to return annually. I wouldn't stay anywhere else after being at this cottage.

Unplug, unwind.

A great little space in the middle of an island of quiet. The cabin is centrally located, and we meandered the whole island on bikes. Make sure you have a bike for each person and you will not be disappointed. The cabin has everything you would need, and reading at night by oil lamp was a nice touch. Beds were comfortable, beaches were warm, and every side of the island offers a different set of activities.

we stayed for a week and loved the cabin. it's very rustic, but well-done and comfortable. the instructions provided by the owner for parking and getting there were very helpful. the cabin is above a beach (semi-treacherous trail down...but others close-by are easier) that has tons of wildlife. we caught crabs and went kayaking - a great overall experience.
