Description of the Sayner vacation cottage rental

This gracious and finely crafted summer home, built in 1923, is nestled on several acres in the woods and overlooks one of Vilas County's most beautiful lakes. A lodge-like feeling is created by the cathedral ceiling and enormous granite fireplace in the living/dining room. Relax on the spacious screened porch as you watch spectacular sunsets. Large eat-in kitchen with dishwasher, large country dining table in main room. Five well- proportioned and charming bedrooms - Three plus (Fourth one w/out closet) downstairs; two upstairs. One old-fashioned bathroom w/ footed tub, a powder room, and separate shower. Winding steps lead down the hill past picnic table and handmade stone barbecue to a large private pier. Use of rowboat included with rental. Cottage also has wood shed and parking adjacent to the house. Note: this is not a winterized home. Available June through first week of October only.

Hill Cottage is located on Plum Lake, one of the most desirable lakes in Vilas County. It is down a private driveway (two other cottages share the road) from Hwy N in the town of Sayner, Wisconsin.(see map) It is situated in the Northern Highlands State Forest; all the land across the bay from Hill Cottage is state owned and thus undeveloped. The Northwoods are made up of pine and hardwood forests interspersed with cristalline lakes. There are miles and miles of biking trails right at the end of the driveway and places in town to rent bikes. Hiking and nature trails abound. Sayner has a beautiful 9-hole lakeside golf course and good public tennis courts a five minute walk from the cottage. Though a small community, it has a public library and a fascinating historical museum. Also just a 5 minute walk away is a children's playground. Sayner has several attractive gift and clothing shops in town and a popular dining spot, The Sayner Pub, as well as several other area restaurants and supper clubs. There is a convenience store/gas station in town but for major grocery shopping, St. Germain is seven miles away. Boat rentals available nearby. Bait shop in town. Take the opportunity to explore this breathtaking part of the country.

Hill cottage is owned by the same family which built it in 1923 and it contains many treasured heirlooms and memories. Four generations have enjoyed the swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, star gazing and reading by the fire that Hill Cottage makes possible.
