Description of the Sciacca vacation apartment rental

We are a German Italian couple, we run in Sicily a Sciacca(AG) in the middle of the ancient Greek Temples itinerary our self catering accommodation (fully equipped, 1 or 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, bathroom and veranda), situated upstairs (mansard) our large villa. Sciacca is situated on the famous archaeological road between Selinunt and Agrigento.
Our estate is about 4 km from the town centre of Sciacca and also from the sea, situated in a rural and very peaceful idyll of about 50,000 square meters in the middle of a grove of olive trees. Our oldest olive tree has about 2000 years!!
In our large villa, we live in the ground floor: my husband Massimo, Sicilian (a very simpatico one), our son David, 1/3 German + 2/3 Sicilian (that's what he says) and last but non least me, Doris, German (who is living here in Sicily for more than 10 years). Part of our family is also Rubbia, our lovely dog and our cats Chip & Chop.
The four brand new (June 2004), nice and cosy apartments are situated on the first floor (mansard). All units are fully equipped with TV, Hi-Fi, fridge, toaster, heating, air condition, standing fans, linen and towels weekly change, our Olive Oil extra vergine during your stay, garden furniture (sunshade, chairs, table, storm lantern, candels), clotheshorse etc.
All our guests can use the washing machine, the iron and ironing board, and our internet to check or send emails. Happy to announce that our apartments now has Wifi, so bring your own laptop and surf the internet at top-speed.

All units are furnished with heating and air conditioning, standing fans, garden furniture (sunshade, chairs, table, storm lantern, candels), clotheshorse etc.
The price includes: Rental of the accommodation, water, gas, bed sheets, towels, blankets, iron and board, Linen and towels weekly change, our Olive Oil extra vergine during your stay, parking, washing machine, heating, air conditioning, standing fans. Discounts for long stay during November, December, January, February and March.

Area Description

SCIACCA (ca.40.000 inhabitants) is situated in the middle of the ancient Greek temples itinerary, on the famous archeological road between Selinunte and Agrigento. It's one of the oldest towns in the island. Sciacca is noted mostly for its Thermal Spa complex, it's beautiful beaches, and it's numerous artisan shops which specialize in ceramic ware.
Within few minutes drive you will find restaurants, pubs, banks, supermarkets, post office, hairdressers, cinemas, museum, churches and other visitor attractions. Within ten-minutes drive you will reach the finest beaches (rocks or sand, as you like).
There is an abundance of good, reasonably priced eating establishments in the area. These include pizzerias and restaurants. Anything from the plain and reasonably priced, to the more sophisticated palate are catered for. Public thermal swimming pool, 10 minutes far.
From Sciacca you can easily reach the most important sightseeing of Sicily in approximately 1 hour drive:
Palermo - 90 km; Selinunte - 30 km; Segesta - 75 km; Eraclea Minoa - 25 km; Agrigento/Greek temples valley - 55 km; Monreale and Erice - 75 km; Piazza Armerina with its antique Roman villa and mosaics - 140 km.

Excellent point of departure for visiting the Southwestern coast of Sicily from Agricento to Trapani, following suggestive routes of high interest both naturalistic (the reserve of The Zingaro) and archaelogical (Temples' Valley, Selinunte archaelogical area), for holidays between hystory, nature, sun and beach. Sciacca is also popular for its Carnival (one of the most important in Italy and the most important in Sicily) which attracts many visitors.

We found the Fontana Calda through one of the gay-friendly websites, looking for an inn near beaches (like Capo San Marco) and antiquities (like Agrigento). We are SO glad we found Doris and her lovely estate nestled in a picturesque olive grove. Sciacca is a charming town worth visiting for a slice of Sicily...not too big...not too small. This is a substantial fishing community with many good restaurants specializing in fish dishes. Doris was wonderful recommending us to nearby restaurants that we really enjoyed. She provided us with directions and made reservations for us when needed. She patiently drew out detailed directions to some of the beaches for us as we were constantly getting lost; and provided us with beach towels. The house was really splendid. She has four rental apartments with everything you can want. We did laundry twice...part of the Sicilian experience after all is to hang dry your laundry.
