Description of the Scituate vacation cottage rental

Beach house, right on the beach! You walk through sand to get to the house. Children love it, and parent's too. Large deck, grill, large, house size rocks line the water's edge giving children hours and hours of endless fun.

Area Information

This cottage is in a residential area with a mixture of rental properties and owner used properties. The beach is at the front steps, across the street is a tidal salt marsh.

Guests who know something about fishing routinely catch stripers and blues right off the large rocks at the waters edge.

Awesome for families

The kindness and generosity we were shown made our vacation one of the most memorable stays we have experienced in a long time. I can't begin to tell you how much the grandchildren loved the ocean, in fact they still talk about it and want to return next year. The family believes the protected beach is perfect for the kids to have an exciting adventure yet offer a great deal of security and safety. Your comfortable and casual house brought us peace and joy. we loved the new floors and freshly painted walls. We tood the downstairs bedroom next to the bathroom and allowed the kids to sleep in the upstairs rooms and have their own bathroom. The beach goers envied us sitting on your back porch while we watched the kids make sandcastles and play in the ocean. If you have small kids bring a safety gate for the porch steps. For older kids bring pails, nets, and boogie boards. We took day trips to Boston and Plymouth. Thank you for going out of your way to make our stay so pleasant

This isn't a Victorian inn or upscale hotel, it's a casual, comfortable beach house. And it's located on one of the most amazing sections of beach on the east coast! Look at the rock formations in the pictures! They hold tidal pools, can be dived off at high tide, and are fun to climb. Most importantly, when you're relaxing in the shade on the cottage's wide, wraparound porch, those rock formations provide a picturesque view that never grows old. (Compare to the straight, boring shorelines at most locations.)

Some of the furniture is old (some pieces are antiques), but the cottage is spacious and airy, and it comes with the comforts (kitchen appliances, cable TV, free wireless) that most people want. Yes, people do collect on the (pleasingly deep) beach in front of the cottage, but the cottage has a front "yard" roped off that provides tenants with private space, and frankly, people-watching while sipping coffee/juice on the huge/shady/breezy porch is part of the fun of this place! Plus, the locals clear out in late afternoon so there's plenty of time and space to throw frisbees or mount a ball game.

If you want a truly amazing view and a relaxed, charming atmosphere, this is a great place to consider. If you're looking for a formal setting and modern furniture, definitely go somewhere else. But good luck trying to find as beautiful a place to hang out.
