Description of the Seabrook Island vacation home rental
"Loved it!!! The description of this house is no exaggeration. It is immaculate, large, open and has every amenity ... We've been vacationing at Seabrook off and on for nearly 30 years, and this house offered the most amenities of any we've ever rented." Visitor, July 2008
How do you choose where to stay on Seabrook? The villas are lovely but small (we used to own one!). The private houses give much more space and privacy, and afford a much higher degree of luxury (that's why we upgraded). What's more for roughly the same rental cost, you can sleep 2 families (2 private baths for the parents/grandparents) for the price of one! But what about being close to the beach, you say?
The beauty of the Seabrook beach is that it has no houses on it! Everyone has to walk across the boardwalks and almost everybody has to take the car and park in one of the plentiful parking spaces by one of the entrances. How else will you get the beach gear (which we provide) down there. Of course, if you want to pay a fortune, you can get an oceanfront property; but you wouldn't be looking at this page if you were in that league!
We totally remodeled this home in 2007 with new kitchen, 3 new bathrooms and a cathedral ceiling in the living area. We have also closed in the screened-in porch to create a beautiful sunroom running the whole length 60ft of the house with tranquil views over the lagoon. It is gorgeous. Everyone who visits loves this house. On top of that we have lived here for the last 6 months and equipped it for just that, living, entertaining, comfort and every amenity you could hope for. It has a beachy feel but a luxurious finish.
In more detail, our luxury house sleeps 8 comfortably in 3 full sized bedrooms, including a gorgeous master bedroom suite with very comfortable California King bed, TV and DVD player, private bathroom with claw foot tub, separate shower and twin sinks; the second bedroom has a queen bed, TV with DVD and private shower room; the third bedroom has bunk beds, a day bed and a trundle bed - its bathroom is right next door; the living area, with cathedral ceiling, has hickory hardwood floors throughout, a large sitting area with 32" LCD TV and DVD player, dining area with large dining table and seating for 8 and a beautiful state-of-the-art kitchen with granite countertops and wooden breakfast bar. The sunroom, overlooking the lagoon, runs the whole length of the house with second dining area, wicker sofas, rockers, desk etc (all new for 2008). Outside is a large deck with adirondack chairs. There is also a Pawleys Island hammock. The house is furnished with Pottery Barn/Restoration Hardware/Ralph Lauren. See the photos!
If you don't know Seabrook, it's next to Kiawah but far less commercial. It's a hidden gem on the South Carolina coast just 30 minutes south of historic Charleston. A private gated community, centred around the Seabrook Club, it is a wonderfully tranquil spot and yet there is enough activity to keep the most energetic of us occupied all day, every day!
The Club's Championship golf courses, tennis courts, equestrian centre and beach club are only available to owners and resort guests (like you) staying in properties on the island, (your Club Amenity Card can be purchased on arrival direct from the club - extra fees apply for some activities, such as golf). Kiawah Island with its world famous golf is literally just next door.
The island has something to offer at all times of year. In the summer it is a family paradise with beach, boating, horseback-riding, cycling and more. In the spring and fall, the weather is perfect for golf, tennis and other activities. Even in the winter (average temperatures still in the 50's) the golf courses are open, the beach is deserted and wonderful for brisk walks, and there is always the lovely open fire in the house to come home to.

Reviews for this vacation home rental in Seabrook Island, South Carolina
Penelope & Kim, A long overdue thanks for letting us stay in your home. It was just as fabulous as the pictures depicted it. It had everything we needed to make us feel at home :) The weather was fabulous(once again...it always it) and it was a perfect vacation! Thanks again! Mike & Lisa (June 2008)
Can you tell me what you placed on top of the mattress of the bed in the master bedroom? This was the first time that my husband and I got a good night's sleep in a rental without waking up with aches and pains. Usually rentals have very hard beds. Whatever it is, I'd like to purchase one for our bed at home - Patricia
Dear Kim and Penelope, We just returned home from our trip to your home in Seabrook. Your home is beautiful. It was so clean, well decorated, and full of every little thing we needed for a good week at Seabrook. The children, ages 9 and 11, were particularly excited to jump on bikes just the right size for them. They were able to ride right away as we were unpacking. My favorite part of the house was the new sunroom. I enjoyed time reading there. Can we book again for next June? - Rob ad Kellie (May 08)
Hello Penelope! My family and I just got back from our vacation! We really had a great time and the house was great! I think that the house being so comfortable was the reason why I could have stayed away from home longer for the first time. Thanks again, Joelle

Loved it!!! The description of this house is no exaggeration. It is immaculate, large, open and has every amenity. The wifi worked like a charm, the master bedroom bed was extremely comfortable and everything we could possibly need was available in the kitchen.
The shower in the master bath was a hoot -- we called it the "time chamber" and it was good for a lot of laughs and some funny photos -- "beam me up, Scottie" style.
Tons of extras in the garage, too, including beach chairs and bikes, which we put to good use and which saved us from having to haul them from home. We've been vacationing at Seabrook off and on for nearly 30 years, and this house offered the
most amenities of any we've ever rented. The sunporch overlooking the lagoon was a personal favorite for reading and "gator watch" every morning, but a small fan I brought from home was very useful since the solarium-type room got pretty warm.
There was a wonderful selection of books and games……
Dear Kim and Penelope,Thank you very much for sharing your home at Seabrook with us. It is a very beautiful home. My son and daughter-in-law said it was the best vacation that they ever had taken. Thank you again for this week. We enjoy the porch very much and saw several alligators, deer and a fox.
Sincerely,Judith – September 2008
Hi Penelope, We have had a wonderful Christmas in your lovely home! It has truly been a blessing to us.We will be leaving today, Saturday at some point this afternoon as my son has an early flight out of Atlanta tomorrow. Again, we have so loved being in your home and would love to rent it from you again soon.
Regards, Barbara (Christmas 2008)
Dear Penelope, We would like to thank you for sharing your lovely property on Seabrook island. We really love it and are having a wonderful family time over the New Years Holidays! It feels like being away from home at a friend's house! The kids are enjoying playing tennis and horse riding and we went to watch the dolphins on the beach yesterday evening which was a big hit!
We wish you a very happy New Year for 2009 and look forward to coming back soon to Seabrook!
We are scheduled to leave on Saturday January 3rd and would like to check with you if it would be possible to check out at noon that day rather than 10:00 am as the weather is really gorgeous and we would love to take a last bike ride with the kids in the morning before heading back to Charlotte. Thank you for letting us know.
Best regards and have a wonderful and happy New Year! Flo
Dear Penelope,Thank you very much for letting us stay till noon on Saturday. We really appreciate it and are very pleased to be able to enjoy our last morning bike riding with the kids. Your house is really wonderful and so welcoming! It feels like a sanctuary! – Flo
Dear Penelope and Kim,
Over the holidays we spoke often to our friends and family and expressed
how much Fred and I enjoyed staying in your lovely home. Although this
note is quite a bit overdue, we wanted to thank you for sharing your
beautiful home. Immediately after returning from Seabrook, we got right
into our old habits of keeping busy with our hectic schedules and did not
thank you soon enough. We apologize about our delay in expressing our
gratitude, but wanted you to know that we thoroughly enjoyed our time there
and appreciated the feel of your home. The kitchen was fantastic. We hope
we left everything satisfactory to you.
We hope that you both enjoyed the holidays and wish you all the best in this year of 2009. Thank you again for allowing your home to us.
Fred & Michelle (Nov 08)
You answered all of my questions. Thank you again for your detailed information and time to write to me. It tells me we are looking at a home we would fall in love with and not want to leave!!
Sincerely,
Marilyn
