Description of the Seabrook Island vacation home rental
As you step through the blue front door, cares and stress finally slip from your shoulders and peace and tranquility meet you. You pour a drink and sit watching the evening sunlight play on the water, soothing your frazzled nerves, as you promise yourself a laze in the hammock tomorrow. But for this first evening, a soak in the generous clawfoot tub awaits you, and then you sink into the vast master bed and enjoy the first good night’s sleep for a while. Tomorrow, you know, will be the laziest, happiest, most relaxing you’ve had for – oh, since whenever. There’s time for a round of golf, then a splash in the oceanside pool; before coming back to this special house of sanctuary and having to make a difficult choice – to watch a film on the huge screen with surround sound, or to put your feet up on the chaise longue in the sun room and just BE. This is the vacation you’ve dreamed of! And with all this space you don’t even have to sit with the rest of the family all the time – and anyway, the kids are off on the bikes that are kept in the garage and your spouse is eager to cook on the grill. What a life: you could get used to this dream of a home!

"Loved it!!! The description of this house is no exaggeration. It is immaculate, large, open and has every amenity ... We've been vacationing at Seabrook off and on for nearly 30 years, and this house offered the most amenities of any we've ever rented,"
Summer guests wrote, and booked for the following year.

We love our house too! So do our children and our grandchildren! We love the space, the quiet, our huge master suite and wonderful king bed, the beach, golf on our two championship courses, Java Java (our favorite local coffee shop), Ladles (the new soup and sandwich bar) and Charleston, of course. We used to live here full time; and every time we visit we can’t believe we ever left! Our home is ideal for a family, an extended family (2 master suites), or 2 families vacationing together.

And now it’s even better, with the new Club and Property Owners’ facilities, which you can enjoy with an Amenity Card (included in our rental charge). The new Lake House is a few minutes gentle stroll away, with its outdoor pools, children’s play area, fitness center (small daily charge) and cafe; the new Tennis and Equestrian Centers are also very nearby. The main clubhouse, golf and the beach club are a short car ride away. Enjoy eating a fabulous meal overlooking the ocean in the Palmetto dining room or an informal snack and a cocktail at the Pelican’s Nest, literally a stone’s throw from the beach.

HOUSE: totally renovated and with an enclosed sunroom (60 ft along the lagoon) and a new bedroom above the garage. All done with full time living in mind – no wonder guests say it’s got the best amenities of any house they’ve ever stayed in. It has the atmosphere of a home because we still think of it as our main home (only work makes us live in the UK!). Our greatest hope is that it will feel like home to our guests and that they will love it as much as we do.

BEDROOMS: sleeps 10 comfortably in 4 full sized bedrooms

MASTER SUITE - a gorgeous master bedroom suite with very comfortable California King bed, TV and DVD player, sofas; private bathroom with claw foot tub, separate, large European-style shower and twin sinks

UPSTAIRS MASTER SUITE - this bedroom is an ideal retreat, with its own shower room; it also has a 46" LED TV, blu-ray DVD player and surround sound system, together with 2 leather recliners and a leather loveseat

GUEST BEDROOM - with a pretty queen bed, TV with DVD and private shower room

CHILDREN"S ROOM - white bunk beds, a day bed and a trundle bed - its bathroom is right next door.

All bedrooms have drapes and ceiling fans; all bathrooms have full sets of towels and hairdryers.

THE MAIN LIVING AREA, with cathedral ceiling, has hickory hardwood floors throughout, a large sitting area with 32" LCD TV and DVD player, dining area with large dining table and seating for 8/10 and a beautiful state-of-the-art kitchen with granite countertops and wooden breakfast bar.

THE SUNROOM, overlooking the lagoon, runs the whole length of the house with second dining area (for 8), second sitting area with wicker sofas, rockers; and a study/desk area.

OUTSIDE is a large deck with adirondack chairs. There is also a Pawleys Island hammock.

The house is furnished with Pottery Barn/Restoration Hardware/Ralph Lauren. See the photos!

We also supply a cooler on wheels (ideal for the long boardwalks down to the beach), beach chairs, body boards for surfing, 2 adult and 2 children’s bikes (cyclists have priority on all Seabrook roads).

Area Info
If you don't know Seabrook, it's next to Kiawah but far less commercial. It's a hidden gem on the South Carolina coast just 30 minutes south of historic Charleston. A private gated community, centred around the Seabrook Club, it is a wonderfully tranquil spot and yet there is enough activity to keep the most energetic of us occupied all day, every day!

The Club's Championship golf courses, tennis courts, equestrian centre and beach club are only available to owners and resort guests (like you) staying in properties on the island, (your Club Amenity Card is included in our rental charge - extra fees apply for some activities, such as golf). Kiawah Island with its world famous golf is literally just next door.

The island has something to offer at all times of year. In the summer it is a family paradise with beach, boating, horseback-riding, cycling and more. In the spring and fall, the weather is perfect for golf, tennis and other activities. Even in the winter (average temperatures still in the 50's) the golf courses are open, the beach is deserted and wonderful for brisk walks, and there is always the lovely open fire in the house to come home to.

What a wonderful vacation!

February 20, 2011

We love Seabrook! The house felt spacious even with so many of us there and had everything we could need - bikes, books, games, chairs etc. Felt more like being at home than in a vacation property. The kitchen is amazing! The beds were all really comfy and we loved being so close to the Lake House. We were up there a lot for the playground and pool. Looking forward to coming back in 2011 and seeing the new addition!

Family vacation

September 16, 2010

Overall our stay was great. The house is lovely for a family get together and has everything you need for catering to a large group. Overall 4 out of 5 but I felt the place had been a little neglected. The bikes in the garage were a bonus and we loved our bikeride with the kids every morning.

WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE SAID:

Penelope & Kim, A long overdue thanks for letting us stay in your home. It was just as fabulous as the pictures depicted it. It had everything we needed to make us feel at home :) The weather was fabulous(once again...it always it) and it was a perfect vacation! Thanks again! Mike & Lisa (June 2008)

Can you tell me what you placed on top of the mattress of the bed in the master bedroom? This was the first time that my husband and I got a good night's sleep in a rental without waking up with aches and pains. Usually rentals have very hard beds. Whatever it is, I'd like to purchase one for our bed at home - Patricia

Dear Kim and Penelope, We just returned home from our trip to your home in Seabrook. Your home is beautiful. It was so clean, well decorated, and full of every little thing we needed for a good week at Seabrook. The children, ages 9 and 11, were particularly excited to jump on bikes just the right size for them. They were able to ride right away as we were unpacking. My favorite part of the house was the new sunroom. I enjoyed time reading there. Can we book again for next June? - Rob ad Kellie (May 08)

Hello Penelope! My family and I just got back from our vacation! We really had a great time and the house was great! I think that the house being so comfortable was the reason why I could have stayed away from home longer for the first time. Thanks again, Joelle

Loved it!!! The description of this house is no exaggeration. It is immaculate, large, open and has every amenity. The wifi worked like a charm, the master bedroom bed was extremely comfortable and everything we could possibly need was available in the kitchen.

The shower in the master bath was a hoot -- we called it the "time chamber" and it was good for a lot of laughs and some funny photos -- "beam me up, Scottie" style.

Tons of extras in the garage, too, including beach chairs and bikes, which we put to good use and which saved us from having to haul them from home. We've been vacationing at Seabrook off and on for nearly 30 years, and this house offered the

most amenities of any we've ever rented. The sunporch overlooking the lagoon was a personal favorite for reading and "gator watch" every morning, but a small fan I brought from home was very useful since the solarium-type room got pretty warm.

There was a wonderful selection of books and gamesâ¦â¦

Dear Kim and Penelope,Thank you very much for sharing your home at Seabrook with us. It is a very beautiful home. My son and daughter-in-law said it was the best vacation that they ever had taken. Thank you again for this week. We enjoy the porch very much and saw several alligators, deer and a fox.

Sincerely,Judith - September 2008

Hi Penelope, We have had a wonderful Christmas in your lovely home! It has truly been a blessing to us.We will be leaving today, Saturday at some point this afternoon as my son has an early flight out of Atlanta tomorrow. Again, we have so loved being in your home and would love to rent it from you again soon.

Regards, Barbara (Christmas 2008)

Dear Penelope, We would like to thank you for sharing your lovely property on Seabrook island. We really love it and are having a wonderful family time over the New Years Holidays! It feels like being away from home at a friend's house! The kids are enjoying playing tennis and horse riding and we went to watch the dolphins on the beach yesterday evening which was a big hit!

We wish you a very happy New Year for 2009 and look forward to coming back soon to Seabrook!

We are scheduled to leave on Saturday January 3rd and would like to check with you if it would be possible to check out at noon that day rather than 10:00 am as the weather is really gorgeous and we would love to take a last bike ride with the kids in the morning before heading back to Charlotte. Thank you for letting us know.

Best regards and have a wonderful and happy New Year! Flo

Dear Penelope,Thank you very much for letting us stay till noon on Saturday. We really appreciate it and are very pleased to be able to enjoy our last morning bike riding with the kids. Your house is really wonderful and so welcoming! It feels like a sanctuary! - Flo

Dear Penelope and Kim,

Over the holidays we spoke often to our friends and family and expressed

how much Fred and I enjoyed staying in your lovely home. Although this

note is quite a bit overdue, we wanted to thank you for sharing your

beautiful home. Immediately after returning from Seabrook, we got right

into our old habits of keeping busy with our hectic schedules and did not

thank you soon enough. We apologize about our delay in expressing our

gratitude, but wanted you to know that we thoroughly enjoyed our time there

and appreciated the feel of your home. The kitchen was fantastic. We hope

we left everything satisfactory to you.

We hope that you both enjoyed the holidays and wish you all the best in this year of 2009. Thank you again for allowing your home to us.

Fred & Michelle (Nov 08)

You answered all of my questions. Thank you again for your detailed information and time to write to me. It tells me we are looking at a home we would fall in love with and not want to leave!!

Sincerely,

Marilyn
