Description of the Seattle vacation apartment rental
If you're coming for a vacation in Seattle, stay at Saint John's Apartments! Our two bedroom, number 304, is perfect for one or two couples or a family on vacation. There is one "master bedroom", a smaller "second" bedroom, and a really comfortable living/dining/kitchen space.
St John's was built in 1910. It is a charming old building. There are two floors of apartments over several retail spaces at street level. 304 is on the top floor and has a great view of Pike Street below.
The apartment was fully remodeled this last December, with new paint, carpets and kitchen cabinets. The kitchen is small-it takes the length of one wall-but it works really well. There is a dining table seating four, and next to that a small living area with couch and large stuffed chair. We have a TV with DVD and VCR and an extensive movie collection, CD Stereo and large, eclectic collection of music. The apartment has cable TV and high speed internet.
The master bedroom is on the corner of the building, with windows looking out on Pike and Harvard. It has a California king bed (it's 6" longer than a regular king size bed...great for tall people.)
The second bedroom has a trundle bed in it. The trundle stores one mattress under the other, so when there is only one person in the room there is only one bed, when there are two there can be two single beds. We can also put the two single beds together, when a couple is using them and wants to snuggle.
Our parking lot is right behind building. Parking costs an additional $10 daily.
There is a sunny back deck that all the residents in the building share, with lounge chairs and a gas barbecue.
And we have full time manager living in the building who will be glad to help if you have any difficulties.
We're in a great location. We're in what is know as the Pike-Pine Corridor, which denotes the two main streets that run from Seattle's Pike Place Market through the downtown shopping area and then up to the residential neighborhoods on Capitol Hill. The distance from St. John's down to the center of Seattle's shopping district is 10 blocks, the Pike Street Market is just 5 more. There are interesting stores, restaurants and businesses all along the way and it's an easy walk.
The neighborhood is busy day and night. This is a great place to people watch. Capitol Hill is a "bohemian" neighborhood, and we are in the middle of it, and there are people on the street all the time. Across the street from us is a large QFC grocery store, open 24 hours, and it draws people. And there are two bars across the street from us, and restaurants all around us. And the college is a block away. It's happening! So if you like watching/being part of that kind of city life, this is a great place.
FAQ about the neighborhood: Is it safe' Yes! We hope so. We've not had any problems in the area, ever. It is busy with people much of the time, and there's safety in numbers!
How about shopping for things' The convenience of the grocery across the street should not be underestimated: it's nice to just walk over there and get anything you ''d want. The store is quite large and truly world class, with a great selection of fresh produce, an excellent deli, bakery, lots of cheeses, and good selection of wines right in the store, and lots more! And, there is a large drugstore above the supermarket.
What about restaurants' There are two great restaurants in St Johns itself: two floors below the apartment is Ayutthaya Thai. If you like Thai food, you'll consider this a find. At the other end of the building is the Rosebud-- an American bistro menu, very moderately priced and very, very good! No matter where you stay in Seattle, do go there!

Reviews for this vacation apartment rental in Seattle, Washington
Wonderful!, February 18, 2008 Our stay at Saint John's Unit 304 exceeded our expectations. It was comforting and comfortable not to mention convenient to everything. Only a few steps away is an incredible gourmet grocery including an extensive wine selection, fresh fish and meats as well as a bakery and a Starbucks for all of our in home dining. Equally as close by you have a choice of Thai, American Bistro, Eastern Indian and an excellent Sandwich Shop for dining out. Up the street on Broadway are even more food and shopping options. The point is that I was overwhelmed by this sweet unit's proximity to an endless number of possibilites plus all that Seattle has to offer. The noise was a non-issue and I am a light sleeper. You may notice it a bit at first, but you will quickly get past it. The owner, Mark's hospitality, attention to details and our needs combined with the apartment's amenities, furnishings and decor were all perfect right down to the coordinating Martini glasses! Nothing was lacking except an excessive price tag! If he will have us, I know where we will be staying on all of our future trips to Seattle.
